It’s all fun and games until someone loses a shoe. How exactly are they supposed to go on living with only half a pair of shoes? It’s just not right! You know what else isn’t right? Hypocritical developers, everything to do with Sony these days, Capcom’s incessant denial and the fact we can’t cheat in Mario Kart 7 any more, that’s what’s not right. But despite all that, we’re still having fun! Right?

There you have it folks, these games should keep you busy for quite some time, well till next week at least. I’ll be back next week for another dose of iOS goodness, in the meantime if anyone would also like to suggest their own suggestions, please feel free to share them in the comments section below.
When Playstation All Stars Battle Royale was revealed for the Playstation 3, many have questioned whether the game will also make the jump to the handheld front in the form of the Playstation Vita. Despite the smaller screen, it seems like a perfect portable game. If an interview with Digital Trends is anything to go by, then a Vita version might not be out of the question.
In that interview, game director Omar Kendall of Superbot Entertainment was asked if there would be a Vita version. Kendall’s answer was simply “Maybe… Stay tuned.” While that is no confirmation of a Vita version, this comment suggests that there could be interest for the portable jump, whether it is Sony or Superbot themselves.
Recently, Sly Cooper will debut on the Playstation Vita with the fourth entry of the series Thieves In Time. This will also make an appearance on the Playstation 3 and will feature connectivity features between the console and its portable brother. With a retail poster also igniting rumours of LittleBigPlanet Karting heading to the Vita, then there should be no reason or excuse hindering the transition for the Sony mascot brawler. This may be the start of Sony providing support for the struggling handheld.
While it should be no surprise, it seems that Cole MacGrath (inFAMOUS), Nathan Drake (Uncharted) and Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) will be included in the roster for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. The confirmation seems to be coming from Cole’s inFAMOUS 2 voice actor Eric Ladin, whose tweet has fired up the internet. This is his tweet:
He mentions Nolan North, who is the voice actor of Nathan Drake, and David Hayter, who is the voice actor of Solid Snake, pointing to an appearance of those two characters in the game. While it was confirmed that there will be third party characters in the game, it was theorised that they would come as downloadable content. Solid Snake is a third party character, but his importance to the Playstation brand may suggest that he may be included right off the disk. With that said, Drake and Solid Snake’s appearance should not come to a surprise for anyone.
Sackboy will get into a kart for the first time when LittleBigPlanet Karting makes its debut on the Playstation 3 this year. However, a retail poster suggests that the Playstation 3 will not be the only gaming system Sackboy will be karting around.
On the dedicated Playstation website Playstation Lifestyle, a contributor by the name of Jared spotted a retail poster in an Australian EB Games store. He took a picture, which you can see below (courtesy of Playstation Lifestyle):
While this is all rumours and speculation, it would not be a surprise if the new karting game does make the jump to the portable scene. Sly Cooper is heading to the Playstation Vita and a Vita version of Playstation All Stars Battle Royale is not out of the question. Considering that the Vita need some games at the moment, a strong first party offering may shift a considerable amount of units and install confidence in third party studios.
It was revealed yesterday that Toonami would indeed be returning in all of its glory on May 26th. Obviously this news delighted the many fans who were desperate to see the programming block return after the April Fool’s day airing of the program.
After this news was revealed a number of people jumped up to say that Toonami would just contain the exact same shows they used to show on Saturdays, including Cowboy Bebop, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Durarara!!, FLCL and more. This listing appeared on TV Guide but according to DeMarco this is far from what will be shown.
DeMarco responded to fans’ concerns on Twitter yet again by stating that the listing “is NOT the lineup. But to be clear, I don’t think that’s a bad lineup.” It appears that Adult Swim is going to be keeping their line-up a secret until the air date, though fans will likely be able to find out beforehand when the TV Guides do actually updated.
Don’t get your pitchforks out quite yet Dragon Ball fans, Dragon Ball Z for Kinect isn’t the game they are talking about. But in all actuality, V-Jump revealed yesterday that the Dragon Ball Sparking! series, or as it is known in the West, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi, will be ending with the next game released in the series.
Currently there is practially zero information about the title besides the fact that it will be called Dragon Ball Sparking! Omega and will be the sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. The game will also have the most characters out of any previous DBZ game, which means that they may be scraping the bottom of the barrel badly. Perhaps fighting as Bulma will put a twist on things?
Hands up Vita owners; now, keep that hand up if you’ve got enough games to play on your shiny new system…hmmm. Sony’s latest handheld has been going through something of a proverbial dry spell for the last wee while, a fact much publicised by everyone and his dog seeking to jump on the inevitable bandwagon of doom that has unhitched itself from the 3DS in order to latch on to the Vita.
Yes, there isn’t much out there at the moment – going into a retailer and looking at the Vita section is a little bit concerning. Yes, the last ‘new’ thing I got for my handheld was a five year old PSP game, and yes I bought it just so I could get some use out of the thing.
But we, the gaming public, despite our talent for doom and gloom and generally throwing around giant mountains of negative, should keep carrying our little torches of hope. Nintendo suffered the same with the 3DS, but thanks to a small handful of big name games, are now enjoying a far more successful time. Note that the 3DS has thrived on the back of time worn franchises, characters that have seen significant shelf life over Nintendo’s entire history: was Super Mario 3D Land really anything new?
“Simply put, there aren’t enough good games for it yet. Also, I think the price may be too high.” Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil)
Sony’s repertoire of icons may lack the pop culture power of Mario, but there are some that could provide some serious mileage for the Vita. Currently announced to make the handheld hop are Metal Gear Solid, Sly Cooper, Resistance, Little Big Planet and more. Now I’ll readily admit that a handheld Mario game has a lot more pull than a re-release of an HD collection of old games, and that as good as Little Big Planet and Sly Cooper may be, they aren’t in the same league of brand power. What the Vita really needs is another big fish, which with Uncharted already out of the way leaves God of War for the Western crowd, and crucially for the Vita’s abysmal performance in the Asian market – Monster Hunter.
Neither has been announced. Yet.
Monster Hunter has demonstrated it’s ability to kick start Sony handheld sales already -the release of Monster Hunter Freedom 3 saw Japanese PSP sales rocket from 30,000 to 40,000 units per week to over 300,000 in the week of the game’s release. This was in the PSP’s sixth year of existence – the Vita cannot afford to wait that long.
E3 is only a short time away, and Sony has never been in a better position to announce something big for the Vita – there’s no greater motivation than financial trouble. Any sort of comeback for the handheld right now would do wonders for them, as would any sort of price drop. The Vita is a great piece of kit, but it’s expensive. Any slashing of the Vita price tag is probably a bit of wishful thinking and one move too much like Nintendo’s 3DS strategy – but when you’re grabbing headlines like this, bold moves need to be made.
“It’s a very hi-spec machine, but I don’t see the combination of software and hardware that makes a strong product.” Shigeru Miyamato
Despite the Vita’s public fragging there’s little doubting it’s a great machine – even the competition says so. E3 needs to be the start of the turnaround for both the handheld and the company behind it. Sony have so far promised 20 new gaming experiences at E3, and more Vita announcements from a second Vita Game Heaven in June. Big cards need to be played, and played as extravagantly as possible to drum up support – thre’s nothing to be gained from being quiet now. Sony needs to destroy the competition at E3 and take home that ‘winner’ accolade that always gets thrown around after the conference – show strength, show confidence, show new and exciting – save the Vita, save the brand.
Then all that’s left to do is the PlayStation 4 vs Xbox 720 battle and the rest of the continuing financial decline. Not too much to handle surely?
Konami revealed today that a playable version of Zone of the Enders HD will be available next week not only to those with tickets for the event, but also to the public as well reports Andriasang. The event itself is called the Zone of the Enders HD Night Fastest in the Universe ReBOOT Preview event and will be taking part at Shinjuku’s Wald 9 theater on May 25th so if you happen to be in Japan at that time, then you may have a chance to be one of the first people to play Zone of the Enders in HD.
To help raise hype for the event and to satisfy fans around the world who have absolutely no way to get to the event, the above image was released from the preview build of Zone of the Enders HD. Looks pretty good so far but I’m sure fans around the world will be much happier when a solid release date is announced.
