For the first time ever, the Yakuza series will be appearing on a non Sony platform. It was announced in Japan today via a Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation that Sega will be releasing Yakuza 1 & 2 HD on the Wii U on August 8th.
It is worth noting that Yakuza 1 & 2 HD was released on the PS3 in Japan last year, but this is still quite a notable addition to the Wii U’s lacking library. Yakuza 1 & 2 HD will feature off-screen GamePad play and a number of other Wii U specific features that were not detailed further. It is worth noting that Yakuza 1 & 2 HD on the Wii U has not been announced for Western release at this time.
Today during a Nintendo Direct presentation it was announced that one of the hottest Wii U titles that gamers have been waiting for has finally been given a release date. Though don’t get too excited, it still is a bit of a ways off.
It was announced that Platinum Games’ Wii U exclusive The Wonderful 101 will be released in North America on September 15th while gamers in Europe will be getting it a few months earlier on August 23rd. Strangely enough, Japan will be getting the title last on August 24th. Nintendo mentioned that more details about the game will be mentioned during one of their Nintendo Directs during E3 this year.
Guess what? Next year ends in an even number. Know what that means? One half of the Olympic games will be held that year and Nintendo and Sega are teaming up once again in a completely unsurprising collaboration to bring Wii U gamers a chance to join in on the Winter Olympics once more.
Today it was announced that Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games will be released on the Wii U and will make use of the Wii Remote Plus and the GamePad to play various events. These events include things such as snowboarding, curling, luge and more Winter Olympic events.
Nintendo has announced that they will be doing something a little special during the week of E3 this year. Rather than providing Wii U game demos to only the select few normal people and game journalists that enter the event, they will instead be giving everyone a chance to play their Wii U games early. Well, everyone who lives near a Best Buy in the US and Canada.
Today it was announced that during the week of E3 Nintendo will be providing unreleased Wii U game demos from E3 to Best Buy so fans of the Wii U or potential Wii U buyers will have a chance to try out games that will be coming to the system in the future. Currently it is unknown what games will be offered but Nintendo will likely announce more details closer to the event.

Back in April it was announced that Konami would be bringing the Metal Gear Solid franchise together in one simple bundle for fans of the series or newcomers to purchase. However at the time only a vague release window was given and it seems that Konami won’t be able to make it within that window. However they did announce today that Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection will be released in North America and South America on July 9th.
For those who don’t know, The Legacy Collection is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid franchise and it contains the original Metal Gear Solid, the HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker, the Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions and last but not least, the Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition. To top all that off, it also will come with two Ashley Wood digital graphic novels and a brand new 100 page art book which highlights the various art that has been used to market the franchise throughout its 25 year history.
Today Tecmo Koei Europe had a bit of news to share for Dynasty Warriors 8 and alongside that bit of news comes a large helping of screenshots and character art for the game. Today it was announced that three new characters have been added to the Jin Kingdom in the form of Zhang Chunhua, Wen Yang and Jia Chong.
Zhang Chunhua is an intelligent woman who is the mother to both Sima Shi and Sima Zhao. She is well known for her fierce personality but also for her smile. Alongside her we have Wen Yang, a young brave warrior who has taken up arms in an effort to help his father. Finally there is Jia Chong, a man with great political skill who has dedicated his life to establishing a man of ability on the emperor’s throne.
Besides this news the comapny also announced what Australians will be able to pick up if they pre-order DW8 from a number of retailers. Those who pre-order the game from EB Games or JB Hi-fi will receive a limited edition smartphone pouch which will feature one of four exclusive designs which focuses on a character from each of the four kingdoms. Also anyone who pre-orders the game will receive a free DLC pack that will provide Zhou Yu, Lu Xun, Cao Cao, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu their outfits from Dynasty Warriors 1 as well as outfits for Zhao Yun and Sun Shangxiang from Romance of the Three Kingdoms 12.
