Team up with two new 5-star playable characters, Vesna and Vodyanitsa, for an intense showdown, and return to Liyue to celebrate the long-awaited Moonchase Festival!

SINGAPORE, September 12, 2026 — Global interactive entertainment brand HoYoverse announced today that Genshin Impact Version 7.1, “A Rekviem for the Underworld,” will launch on September 23. With the situation in Snezhnaya becoming increasingly dire, the nation is drawing up a new plan to stand against the Heavenly Principles. Meanwhile, the growing threat of Ronova, the Ruler of Death, is setting the stage for an inevitable showdown. Two new 5-star playable characters, Vesna and Vodyanitsa, will join the roster, bringing new ways to enhance Stellar Swirl reactions. Players will also return to Liyue for the long-awaited Moonchase Festival celebrations.

Check out Genshin Impact Version 7.1 trailer here:

In Version 7.1’s Archon Quest, the crisis in Snezhnaya continues to deepen. Players will finally come face-to-face with the Tsaritsa and uncover the true strategy behind her years-long effort to collect the Gnoses. Meanwhile, Ronova, the Ruler of Death, has used her authority to severely hinder Snezhnaya’s progress, bringing an inevitable showdown ever closer. The arrival of Rhinedottir, the Ruler of Life, only adds further uncertainty to the unfolding situation. Players will head to the front lines and fight alongside Snezhnaya in a climactic battle against Ronova. The Ruler of Death will also appear as a new Weekly Boss, giving players the chance to confront her overwhelming power firsthand. Completing the new Archon Quest will grant Primogems ×620. Starting in Version 7.1, players can also take on special assignments issued by the Tsaritsa’s Confidential Secretary, helping handle matters both great and small while gaining deeper insight into the Tsaritsa’s approach to governing Snezhnaya.

Two new 5-star playable characters, Vesna and Vodyanitsa, will bring their own unique ways to enhance Stellar Swirl reactions. The youngest Commander in Druzhna history, Vesna is known for her unwavering loyalty to the Tsaritsa and joins the roster as a 5-star Anemo Sword wielder. In combat, she can convert Cryo Swirl reactions into Stellar Swirl reactions. Using her Elemental Skill and other abilities, Vesna can summon Spirit Blades and gain a certain amount of “Sword Essence.” She can then consume “Sword Essence” with a special Elemental Skill to command the Spirit Blades to strike enemies. When they attack near a Stellar Vortex, their attacks are treated as Stellar Swirl reaction DMG. Her Elemental Burst summons another wave of Spirit Blades to deal AoE Anemo DMG while restoring “Sword Essence.” Vesna also offers a unique way to explore the open world. As a Vila, she is able to take flight during exploration. Players can also experience a special anecdote featuring Vesna to unlock a unique appearance for her sword spirit companion.

Vodyanitsa is the Prima Donna of Snezhnograd’s Korolevskiy Troupe, as well as a kind-hearted Water Imp and 5-star Hydro Catalyst wielder. In combat, she can transform into her Water Imp form and sustain her song through her Elemental Skill, continuously healing the active character, reducing enemies’ Hydro and Cryo RES, and boosting the active character’s ATK. In this form, she can also move swiftly through the water. Her song further empowers Stellar Vortices, reducing enemies’ Anemo RES and increasing Stellar Swirl reaction DMG. Her Elemental Burst carries her voice across the battlefield, dealing AoE Hydro DMG. While exploring the open world, Vodyanitsa can remain in her Water Imp form and move freely even outside the water. Players can learn more about her through a story featuring Vodyanitsa and obtain a unique appearance for her microphone as a reward.

In the first phase of Version 7.1 Event Wishes will feature Vesna and Vodyanitsa, with Skirk and Escoffier returning in the second phase.

The long-awaited Moonchase Festival returns to Liyue after five years, welcoming players back for another celebration! Yilong Wharf has been transformed for the festivities, but beneath the celebrations lies a mystery from the past that even Zhongli and Zibai have yet to unravel. The festival will also introduce three new mini-games inspired by Liyue thaumaturges, with a variety of rewards up for grabs, including a new 4-star Sword.

Back in Snezhnaya, players can join local children in a seasonal snowball event and take on a host of unusual foes. Meanwhile in Natlan, a tournament prediction event will invite players to predict the final results for 16 competing teams over several days of matches. A variety of rewards will be available for completing these events.

Miliastra Wonderland will also see a range of new updates in Version 7.1. The lobby will be refreshed with an autumn-themed look inspired by traditional motifs such as osmanthus blossoms and the moon, and players can unlock an elegant cosmetic set for free by completing the related event. A special festival event will offer even more rewards, including an exclusive headpiece. The editor is also being expanded with new controls that support client-side scripting, along with collaborative editing tools that give players even more ways to create and experiment.

The new version will also mark Genshin Impact’s sixth anniversary with players around the world, bringing a generous lineup of anniversary rewards. For the first time, players who complete the latest Archon Quest will be able to choose one event-exclusive 5-star character for free from a select lineup at any point during Version 7.1. Players can also select one standard 5-star character for free, along with Primogems ×1,600, Intertwined Fate ×10, and more anniversary rewards.

Genshin Impact Version 7.1 launches on September 23, bringing players into a pivotal moment for Snezhnaya! With cross-progression and Co-Op functions, players can enjoy their adventure across PlayStation®, Xbox, PC, Android, and iOS. The game has been rated T for Teen by ESRB on PS5, Xbox, PC, and Google Play, and 12+ on iOS. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 Review

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2

Developer: Konami
Publisher: Konami
Platforms: Xbox Series XPlayStation 5 (Reviewed), PC, Switch, Switch 2
Release Date: Available Now
Price: $69.99 USD – Available Here

Overview

For quite a while, Metal Gear fans didn’t know what was going to happen with their beloved franchise. After the surprising spin-off action game that was Revengeance followed by the masterpiece that was Metal Gear Solid V, the series languished for three years until a terrible survival game nearly drove the series under.  What followed was five years of silence until Konami revealed that not only would they be bringing together the Metal Gear Solid games in a series of collections but remaking Snake Eater from the ground-up. After a successful first Master Collection and a masterful remake, now Konami has brought out the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, containing one of the most significant elements and that is the fact that it is freeing Metal Gear Solid 4 from the chains of the PlayStation 3. So combining that title alongside Peace Walker and even the non-canon Ghost Babel as a bonus, how does this collection come together?

Story

For as divisive as Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was back at the time, it certainly didn’t deserve to be imprisoned on the PlayStation 3 for two decades but that happened to be its fate until now, giving players new to the series and longtime fans the ability to experience Solid Snake’s final outing at its best. Set five years after the events of Big Shell, Snake has started suffering from accelerated aging that has turned this veteran soldier into an old man, dubbed “Old Snake” by the game. While hiding away from the world that is convinced he is a criminal, he is brought back into the fold for one last job by none other than Colonel Campbell himself. While PMCs have grown in power to the point that the rival nations’ militaries, the SOP System suppressing and helping maintain PMC soldier’s connections during conflict and more, Liquid has made his move and is rising to power in the Middle East.

With one last task keeping him moving forward, it will be up to Old Snake to put a stop to Liquid Ocelot and prevent him from enacting his plan that goes far beyond what any could have expected, even as it brings Solid Snake’s journey to a satisfying finale. Metal Gear Solid 4 was always a bit of a strange game and one that was absolutely notorious for having twenty minute long, or even longer, cutscenes as it explained numerous details and references that spanned the entire franchise including events that happened in the Metal Gear games all while players would also encounter familiar faces, face off against “beauties” haunted by their trauma and turned into weapons, and buying DNA-code free firearms off of a man who has a cigarette and soda addicted monkey wearing a diaper as a pet.

This ridiculous story is one that manages to be as absurd and eerily familiar to the current world as any of Kojima’s previous Metal Gear entries, what with the rise of AI, drone warfare, and autonomous weaponry, but it also is as impactful now as it was back then, maintaining its relevancy as being the final major note in Snake’s journey as well as tying up every single loose end that the franchise had canonically in the timeline, even though this was not the last Metal Gear Solid game to be made. In fact, the next game in the collection, Peace Walker, was released later but instead follows the events that took place following Snake Eater.

Four years after that entry, Big Boss, formerly known as Naked Snake but now saddled with his new moniker, has established his own mercenary faction in the Colombian region called the Militaires Sans Frontières, or simply the MSF. Upon the arrival of an agent carrying a message from his former mentor, The Boss, he chooses to take action once again into investigating a freshly formed army and the mysterious weaponry that they have gathered, including a massive weapon code-named Peace Walker, a nuclear tank designed to instantly fire its nuclear payload if triggered. As Snake delves deeper into the conspiracy and designs of the organization that helped construct Peace Walker and their meaning, it becomes clear that he must put a stop to it at all costs, even if it means going against what he previously swore off.

Peace Walker shows the limitations of the PSP that it was released on at the time both through its gameplay as well as its narrative. While still a worthwhile storyline, the basic pacing of the short missions and reveals pushed the handheld to the limit back then and while seeing the story updated once again, after the previous HD release, is nice nonetheless. It is interesting to note that while the overarching storyline of the game isn’t necessarily inventive, it does serve as the building blocks for what would eventually become Metal Gear Solid V both narratively and partially in design.

Finally included in the game is an odd little bonus that even most fans of the franchise probably have never touched or even heard about in the form of Ghost Babel. This Game Boy Color title once again pushed the old handheld far beyond what the limits were at the time even if it feels like something of a long-forgotten game that is a blend of Metal Gear as well as some Solid to try and tie things together. It tells a completely non-canon alternative story that takes place after Metal Gear 2 and sees Snake facing off against a number of unique bosses and enemies that for its time were impressive but now are mostly an afterthought.

Perhaps the most interesting inclusion in this entire release outside of the games themselves is the absolutely exhaustive amount of bonus reading content that is included. These range from being simple manuals and character biographies to straight up providing entirely timelines and how certain characters connect with one another, the various actions and how they tie together, and more. The game even warns players before reading that it will spoil content with how in-depth it goes and it does seem to contain quite a lot of information that longtime fans may have only scratched the surface of or only barely remember and now are able to see it all laid out in one place, including direct links within the compendium to go down a rabbit hole of information and learn the ins an outs of each story.

Gameplay

In a similar vein to the first collection, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 splits all three games into their own separate titles which is something of an odd decision, especially since Ghost Babel is slotted into a “Bonus” only title which is strange as it could have easily been stuck in with Peace Walker. For the most part Guns of the Patriots plays the exact same as fans of the original will remember it with many of the controls modified to better work with the current expected layout for aiming and shooting, though aiming down the sights is still a bit of an odd choice, having players tap triangle while already aiming. Swapping between equipment and weapons are simple and easy to do on the fly, with most things needing to be unlocked by Drebin or immediately available for purchase or use upon picking them up, depending if they were obtained from a rebel or a PMC member.

Players are encouraged to play stealthily and use less lethal methods to take down enemies, and even bosses as there are extra rewards for non-lethal boss take downs, as it not only keeps Snake’s stress levels low but keeps the “war price” that affects how expensive Drebin’s unlocks are, down. This can be done through simple stealth take downs, tranq darts, making use of the OctoCamo that will help blend Snake into his current environment automatically, but there are also plenty of moments that players can choose to go loud and support one side of a conflict or are forced to with some impressive gunplay that still feels good to this day.

Peace Walker continues the impressive standard but as mentioned earlier, lays the groundwork heavily for what would eventually become the core gameplay loop for Metal Gear Solid V. Peace Walker’s PSP origins meant that while the combat was sufficient, it was also kept to a smaller scale as players would find themselves being sent out on missions in various locations rather than a large area players would need to navigate through with their map. Similarly this is also the entry that introduced the Fulton Recovery System meaning players can easily attach it to any guard they have knocked out and instantly remove them from the field helping keep stealth approaches simpler since no one can stumble upon a knocked out guard. These recovered soldiers and other items can then be used to manage the player’s base such as assigning soldiers to the best posts that fit their skills and so on. It is a bit surprising that the game’s multiplayer element was transferred into the collection and a welcome one at that.

Then there is Ghost Babel, a title that is perhaps the most unique and at the same time most limited of all three titles in the collection. The game plays akin to the old Metal Gear games with a top down perspective and simple controls but does give Snake the option to press up against walls and the like similar to how he can in the Metal Gear Solid games, bringing it into something of a strange middle-ground bridging the two stories even if it has no real place in the storyline other than a “what if”, at least the gameplay itself is enjoyable.

Audio & Visuals

With Konami bringing the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 to modern platforms it sees each game once again take a slight jump in quality, however minor, though most of it happens to come from the fact that all of the games now run completely smoothly at 60 FPS, minus Ghost Babel of course thanks to its design. The character models and designs in Guns of the Patriots look as impressive as ever, with the OctoCamo system doing wonders, even if it can make a few cutscenes look odd at times, and players having plenty of gorgeous visuals throughout the incredibly long cutscenes. Similarly Peace Walker has seen a decent graphical improvement over the HD release in 2011 but this is still a PSP game in the end. As for Ghost Babel, the title really did push the limits of the GBC and it is clear even today why with how gorgeous the game’s spritework looks and detailed the environments are given the age of the game.

All of the games’ voice work has been maintained perfectly throughout the years and the actors’ performances continue to impress all these years later, which is important given how long players will be listening to some of them talk, and how iconic many of the specific phrases in Guns of the Patriots have become over the years. The background music across the titles remains impressive and untouched, with players even being able to find tracks of iPod music MP3’s they can use to listen to other games’ songs while traveling around in Guns of the Patriots often hidden out of the way or given as rewards, though listening to the iPod will occupy the equipment slot at the time.

Overall

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 managed to do what many thought would never happen, saving Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from its PlayStation 3 jail, and it is nearly worth the price of admission simply for that. However the plenty of flair that comes with MGS4’s story and gameplay also play a huge role alongside Peace Walker’s extensive amount of missions that laid the groundwork for MGSV, despite still looking rough in many areas. Combine that with the bonus that is Ghost Babel and tons of extra lore and in-game bonuses and this is a collection that, despite being a bit smaller in size compared to the first one, is well worth it for any fan of the franchise.

Hard Sci-Fi Tactical RPG Frontier: Path of Shadows Launches on PC

0

Oduvan Games releases its first major PC title after two years of development, combining turn-based tactical combat, open-sector exploration, and a nonlinear story shaped by a sentient alien Symbiont.

Independent developer Oduvan Games announced the release of Frontier: Path of Shadows, a hard sci-fi turn-based tactical RPG now available on PC via Steam.

After two years of development, Frontier: Path of Shadows marks the studio’s first major PC release. Players follow Jay and the crew of the Simurgh through a fractured corner of outer space, where rival factions compete for influence in the aftermath of the Interstellar War.

Along the way, players will explore planets and dangerous regions of space, take on contracts and side missions, fight tactical battles, make difficult choices, and uncover the mystery of the strange alien being connected to Jay — the Symbiont.

Tactical Combat Where Positioning Matters
Combat in Frontier is built around a network of interconnected tactical points rather than a traditional grid. Different positions can provide advantages or inflict negative effects, while movement abilities allow players to push enemies into dangerous locations and turn the battlefield itself into a weapon.

Each crew member has unique abilities, with new skills opening additional tactical combinations. Weapons and equipment come in different rarities, encouraging experimentation with squad builds and loadouts.
Battles also feature changing environments, enemy compositions, and procedural conditions that force players to adapt.

For those willing to take greater risks, Frontier includes a roguelite extraction-style combat loop: win a battle, push deeper for better rewards, or leave before losing what you have earned.

Explore an Open Sector
Outside combat, players are free to choose where the crew travels next.

The sector includes planets, nebulae, asteroid fields, wrecks, other ships, contracts, side quests, random encounters, and resources. Players can follow the main story or spend time exploring and taking on optional activities.

Resources can also be handed over to different factions to increase reputation, giving players another way to shape their relationships with the groups competing for power across the sector.

A Story Shaped by the Symbiont
At the heart of Frontier: Path of Shadows is a nonlinear story filled with quests, faction conflicts, discoveries, and difficult decisions.

Path of Shadows is the first chapter of a larger Frontier narrative. Its main story reaches a conclusion, while introducing characters, mysteries, and conflicts intended to continue in future chapters.
Jay is bonded to an aurorite Symbiont, a rare form of sentient crystalline life coveted by powerful forces across the sector.

But the Symbiont is not simply another tool. It watches how the player behaves. Decisions made in conversations, combat, exploration, and interactions with the world gradually shape its tendencies and the way it responds to Jay.

This relationship can influence major story developments and help determine which endings players reach.

What Comes Next
Oduvan Games plans to continue supporting Frontier: Path of Shadows after release with fixes, updates, balance adjustments, and improvements based on player feedback.
The studio is also considering:

  • additional storefronts, including the Epic Games Store;
  • new combat encounters, side quests, and random events;
  • future chapters and stories in the Frontier universe.

The story of Path of Shadows may reach its conclusion, but several questions remain.
Why is Jay able to bond with the Symbiont?
What did the Argonauts discover on the Path of Shadows?
And what exactly is Khan hiding?

Frontier: Path of Shadows is available now on PC via Steam.

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS UPDATE 43.1 ADDS NEW KICK ACTION AND WATER-BASED COMBAT OPTIONS

0

The update also expands item interactions, adjusts LMG balance, and brings JUJUTSU KAISEN collaboration content and new leaderboards.

EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. – SEPTEMBER 10, 2026 – KRAFTON, Inc. today announced Update 43.1 for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, introducing new ways to approach combat, movement and item use.

New Combat and Movement Actions: Update 43.1 adds a new kick action to unarmed combat. Players can use kicks to knock back other players or break certain objects, including windows and wooden doors. The update also allows players to use sidearms and throwables while on the water’s surface. Swimming and diving speeds have been increased by 25%, providing additional options when moving through water or engaging nearby enemies.

Expanded Item Interactions: Depending on the item, players can now pick it up and carry it directly or throw it to a teammate without first placing it in their inventory. Healing and boost items, along with certain deployable items, can also be used directly from the ground. These changes reduce unnecessary inventory management and make it easier for players to take action without interrupting the flow of a match.

LMG Balance Adjustments: Light Machine Guns (LMGs) have received additional balance adjustments based on gameplay data and player feedback collected since Update 42.3. The first LMG meta rotation had a greater impact on the overall gameplay environment than expected. This latest round of tuning adjusts aim speed, recoil, effectiveness against vehicles and world spawn rates while preserving the weapon class’s core strengths and characteristics.

JUJUTSU KAISEN Collaboration Content: Update 43.1 also brings new collaboration content inspired by the anime JUJUTSU KAISEN. The collaboration adds themed spaces and visual elements to selected areas of Erangel, bringing JUJUTSU KAISEN into regular matches.

New Leaderboards: A new Leaderboard menu has been added to Career. In addition to Ranked standings, players can view their rankings across a wider range of categories, including seasonal wins, kills by weapon and Clan XP.

Additional Updates: Additional updates include the return of Solo Deathmatch in Arcade, adjustments to boat durability and repair functionality, changes to parachute activation conditions, support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4.1 on PC, the return of Rumble in a Duo format on PC, adjustments to character hit detection on console, and additional custom preset slots.

Fortnite is now one of the largest discovery platforms in the world, and we intend to build there at scale, said Nitish Mittersain, Founder & CEO at Nazara.  “Reissad has raised the bar with an experience that is raw, immersive, and visually stunning. Bringing Bodycam to Fortnite proves that UEFN is ready for premium-quality FPS experiences. It becomes the template for the IPs, original experiences, and partnerships we bring to this ecosystem next.

At launch, Bodycam UEFN features Russian Building, one of the most recognizable environments from the original game, recreated for Fortnite with a focus on authenticity, atmosphere, visual fidelity, and fast tactical encounters. The map is designed for high-pressure close-quarters combat where positioning, reflexes, sound awareness, and precision determine the outcome of every fight.

Bodycam UEFN launches with three multiplayer modes:

  • Free For All – Every player fights alone in fast-paced matches where survival depends on awareness, accuracy, and reaction time.
  • Team Deathmatch – Two teams compete to reach the score limit first in squad-based combat inspired by classic competitive shooters.
  • Gun Game – Players progress through an evolving arsenal by securing eliminations, racing to reach the final weapon and claim victory.

The experience also includes long-term progression systems, allowing players to climb ranks, unlock weapons, earn rewards, and pursue competitive goals through regular play.

Bodycam UEFN is planned as a live experience, with future updates expected to introduce additional maps inspired by the original Bodycam, new weapons and equipment, new rewards and unlockables, seasonal updates, community events, and additional gameplay modes.

With Bodycam UEFN, Nazara aims to push the expectations of what players can experience inside Fortnite and demonstrate how major gaming IPs can use UEFN as a serious platform for franchise expansion.

Bodycam has always been built with the ambition to stay ahead of technology rather than wait for the industry to move first, said Luca Dassier, Studio Director at Reissad.Partnering with Nazara Technologies and Virstate is what makes this expansion possible. They lead it, they own it, and they bring the publishing and development strength to build Bodycam a genuine home on Fortnite. For us, this partnership is about preparing for the future of Unreal Engine 6 by gaining hands on experience with Verse, the programming language expected to play a major role in its ecosystem. And at the same time, Bodycam on PC remains the complete and undivided focus of our studio. This partnership is precisely what allows both projects to move forward at full speed.

HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush Now Available on Consoles and PC

0

Sydney, Australia, September 11, 2026Milestone, a leading global racing game developer, and Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT), a leading global play and family entertainment company and owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world, announced today the launch of HOT WHEELS™ Infinite Rush, now available on PlayStation®5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch™ 2, ROG XBOX Ally, ROG XBOX Ally X, and PC via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store.

Watch the HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush launch trailer here:

HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush expands the fun beyond the iconic orange tracks, immersing players in a toy-scale world designed for exploration and high-speed racing fun. Players can race, explore, collect, customise, and create as they shape their own adventure across four interconnected islands packed with races and free-roaming activities.

From the bustling streets of Wheelswood to the industrial canyons of Gearville, the natural landscapes of Tentacle Bay, and the neon-lit alleys of Drifty Temples, each island has a distinctive visual identity and blends a variety of racing challenges, unexpected obstacles, and hidden collectibles. Players can freely sky-jump between the environments as they unlock new areas and events, shaping their own journey at their own pace.

With more than 150 vehicles available at launch, ranging from iconic Hot Wheels™ Originals to legendary real-world automotive brands, players can expand their garage by completing races, taking on special events, and defeating the racing crews across the islands as they compete to earn the Rush Master title. Four distinct vehicle classes — Drifters, Speeders, Titans, and Versatiles — offer unique handling and feature a perk system that shapes performance and playstyle, encouraging players to experiment with different setups. This way, players can build a Rush Squad ready for any challenge: a four-vehicle team featuring their preferred Hot Wheels™ from each class. With a quick-switch button, they can instantly change vehicles while exploring the islands, ensuring they always have the right ride for every activity.

Customisation is at the heart of the experience, with extensive options available through Sticker and Livery editors, including wheel customisation, boost visual effects, and personalised boost and dash sound effects.

Creativity extends beyond the garage thanks to the Track Builder, which allows players to design unique routes that blend with the game world. The adaptive ground-snapping system lets track modules follow the terrain, while action markers define virtual opponents’ behaviour, including racing lines, acceleration, and braking points. With creations shareable across supported platforms*, the Track Builder offers endless opportunities for players to create, share, and compete with the wider community.

HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush also features multiplayer options, with full cross-play* support for online challenges and local split-screen** for up to four players, giving players multiple ways to compete across competitive modes, leaderboards, and asynchronous challenges.

HOT WHEELS Infinite Rush is available now on PlayStation®5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch™ 2, ROG XBOX Ally, ROG XBOX Ally X, and PC via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store.

*Nintendo Switch 2 does not support cross-share or cross-play, so it is limited to its own platform.

**Nintendo Switch™ 2 will have 6 competitors per race
