Today Gogogogo.com revealed the next Boss Backstory for the new, free-to-play, browser-based, 2D, third person shooter; Tata Blitz and that boss is none other than the infamous Dracula! You can read the official teaser description below.

Tata Blitz is a great game known for its comical, cartoon style. The game features varies battle maps, unique and crazy characters, awesome weapons and fast-paced PVE mission and PVP challenges. Players will be transported to an array of foreign maps that will feature scenery from all over the globe including Egyptian Pyramids, Dracula’s Castle, Dark gas Swamps and a whole lot more!

The Official Tata Blitz Boss Backstory:

“Bob, do you really believe in Dracula?” a timid voice asked from the darkness.

“Shut up Rocky. You’ve asked me that a hunnerd times, don’ ask any more!” came the sharp retort, the South accent thick on his tongue.  The silence thickened ominously, broken only by the two’s footfalls on the stone walkway.

Bob and Rock had been best friends for what felt like forever.  Both were huge fans of everything Vampire, and had always fantasized about meeting a live…or dead one.  An online forum they both followed had mentioned an abandoned castle where a vampire was rumored to live, and they’d decided to adventure out to see if it was true.  The two had spent hours walking around the deserted castle, and were on the verge of leaving when they stumped upon a secret entrance to an underground passage.  Though night was falling, the possibility of a secret underground lair was too much for the duo to resist!

Bob lead the way with Rock, more timid, following behind.  The darkness was both thrilling and a little intimidating.  Rock secretly wished he could be back at home in his cozy chair in front of the TV and computer, but he couldn’t leave his best friend to go exploring alone.  Suddenly, Rock felt some fluid drop onto his face, and he screamed, startling Bob.  Both lifted their leads slowly and discovered they could no longer see the roof clearly.  With a thunderous noise, hundreds of bat wings began to beat in time as faint green lights – the reflection of the creatures’ eyes – suddenly light up the gloomy cavern.

The two began to run without caution, not realizing they were running deeper into the underground catacombs.  They screeched to a halt as they entered a cavernous chamber and stared in horror, for sitting in the middle of the room, on a raised platform, sat a coffin.  As its lid slowly rose up, Rock’s last thought was for his comfortable chair as he was attacked by the swarm of ravenous vampire bats that has followed the two inside…When did this happen and where?  It’s up to you to find out!

Snoop Dogg’s Kung-Fu Inspired ‘Way of the Dogg’ Out Today

Way-of-the-dogg-Screen-01

Way of the Dogg, an arcade rhythm-fighter title brought to us by Snoop D-O-Double-Gizzle himself is releasing today on the Xbox Live Arcade, with release on the PSN Store and mobile platforms soon to follow.

The bombastic game draws inspiration from Snoop’s love of 70s Kung-Fu movies (don’t we all love ’em!), and follows the story of America Jones – the toughest street fighter in town, whose two great passions are the fight and his woman, Sierra. But, in a classic filmic twist, Sierra is taken from him, forcing AJ to step up and take his fighting skills to a whole new level under the watchful eye of Master Snoop. He must learn the “Way of the Dogg”.

Way of The Dogg features intense, rhythm-action combat matched to a selection of Snoop Dogg’s greatest hits including: “Who am I (What’s my Name)”, “Gz and Hustlas”, “From Tha Chuuch To Da Palace” and “ Pump Pump.” Way of the Dogg’s story mode pits players against the toughest fighters around in brutal one-on-one fights. In addition, the game features highly stylized temple fight-challenges taught by Snoop and multiplayer to boot [to the face!].

Snoop spoke about his inspirations in making the title with Echo Peak;

I’ve always dug old school Kung Fu movies. Growing up in the hood, me and the homies used to hit the Palace Theater in Long Beach to watch the double feature Kung-Fu flicks and come out of the theater play fighting each other, making those old school sound effects. I wanted Way of the Dogg to pay tribute to that feeling and bring that same excitement, fused with my music, to the game.

You can check out the Way of the Dogg Gameplay Trailer embedded below, and visit the official Way of the Dogg Facebook page for all the latest updates.

Position Based Fluids the Future of Realistic Water in Games

Location-Based-Fluids-01

Two physics programmers at NVIDIA – Miles Macklin (blog here) and Matthias Müller-Fischer – have written a paper, accepted for presentation at SIGGRAPH 2013, called Position Based Fluids (PBF) that explains the algorithm and inner workings of the new fluid simulation technology.

The SIGGRAPH submission video can be viewed at the very bottom of this article. Directly below is a supplemental video which demonstrates the further work achieved since submission, enabling spray and foam effects.

Position Based Fluids – Supplemental Video

Here is an excerpt of the abstract, although very few of us will truly understand it:

In fluid simulation, enforcing incompressibility is crucial for realism; it is also computationally expensive. Recent work has improved efficiency, but still requires time-steps that are impractical for real-time applications. (…) We incorporate an artificial pressure term that improves particle distribution, creates surface tension, and lowers the neighbourhood requirements of traditional SPH. Finally, we address the issue of energy loss by applying vorticity confinement as a velocity post process.

You can read the paper in full right here. And we thought Bioshock had amazing water…

crunchyroll-ghost-slayers-01

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll has announced three new anime shows added to its selection: Gurren Lagann, R.O.D -The TV- and Ghost Slayers Ayashi. All three anime titles have been licensed and released by Aniplex of America.

Episodes of Gurren Lagann will be released every Friday at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Premium Crunchyroll members get three episodes per week while free users get two. Ghost Slayers Ayashi starts on Saturday 3:00 p.m. EDT with all 30 episodes available to premium members. Free members get three per week. R.O.D -The TV– begins on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Paying folk get the first 13 episodes while the rest get three per week.

There is a region-specific catch, however, as only those of us in North America can watch these shows.

The good news for some international anime fans is the launch of Crunchyroll’s service in Spain and Portugal, and it will hit the ground running by streaming most of this season’s titles along with other hits like Muv-Luv: Total Eclipse, Naruto Shippuden and Nyaruko-san. Subtitles will naturally be in Spanish and Portuguese, respectively.

The Entire BEYOND: Two Souls Tribeca Presentation

Beyond-Two-Souls-Tribeca-Screen-01

BEYOND: Two Souls has been getting some great buzz thanks to its Tribeca Film Festival presentation – the second game to be an Official Selection (people seem to forget the fact that L.A. Noire was first in 2011).

Now, barely a week since the trailer shown at the event was released online, the entire presentation has made its way onto the official PlayStation YouTube channel. The presentation went 90 minutes and included – besides the aforementioned trailer – a lengthy Q&A session and 35 minutes of sequential gameplay footage.

You may watch it all in the video embedded below. I actually expressed my hope that this would be available for viewing, but now that it is, I’m not sure I want to spoil myself, or the game. 35 minutes is a solid chunk of what is reportedly a 10 hour long experience, but for those of you without that concern (or restraint), enjoy!

Laike’s PC Download Deals 5/4/2013

star-wars-weekly-deal

May the 4th be with you! There are tons of Star Wars themed sales this week in celebration of May 4th, so let’s get to it!

Steam is leading the charge this week with all Star Wars franchise titles having 66% knocked off their regular price. For the exceptionally brave, the already discounted Star Wars Collection is 50% off. If you must choose a few Star Wars titles, I highly recommend Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel for RPG fans. I also have a huge soft spot for Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I really enjoyed the ability to customize your own Jedi, including lightsaber and combat styles.

Star Wars isn’t the only sale on Steam this week. Tomb Raider is 50% off. It’s an excellent price for a good game, though the most frugal gamers should wait as Greenman Gaming has had it for 50% off with an additional 20% off coupon in the past. Be sure to check out our review of Tomb Raider if you haven’t made up your mind. Additionally, 4 Elements, Closure, Snapshot, Retrovirus, Sol Survivor, Legendary, Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals, BC Kings, Puzzle Kingdoms, Stealth Bastard Deluxe, and Cave Story+ are all on sale as part of Steam’s Week Long Deals.

Greenman Gaming is running several themed deals this weekend. Several newly released titles are 30% off with the coupon GMG30-BH67J-TILO5. Interesting titles include BioShock Infinite and its season pass, Dead Island Riptide, Defiance and its Digital Deluxe Edition, and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. If you plan on purchasing Defiance, I recommend sticking to the regular edition unless you plan on using the included boosts heavily. I highly recommend the game, as I’ve sunk many enjoyable hours into the game. Be sure to check out our review of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Bioshock Infinite, Defiance, and Dead Island Riptide if you are considering a purchase.

Finally, GMG is running a Bethesda Deal this weekend. GMG has knocked down the prices of Skyrim, Dishonored, and both games’ DLC by 50% off. This is one of the cheapest prices for the Dragonborn DLC so far, so if you’ve missed previous 50% off sales, it is a good time to buy now. The new Dishonored DLC, The Knife of Dunwall, is not included in this sale. Unfortunately, GMG’s 20% off coupon, GMG20-GGN5D-FC3NA, will not work for this sale.

GamersGate’s Spring Sale extends into its second week with new deals every day and several bundles deeply discounted. There are single titles discounted by around 50% throughout the whole event, but these can be easily ignored for the much better daily and bundled deals. I highly recommend the Deus Ex Collection which contains all the Deus Ex games and DLC. The original Deus Ex is a classic must play title. Fans of open world games should check out the Just Cause Collection for 75% off. The games play a bit like a wacky action film, but are incredibly fun. The open beta weekends for Just Cause 2 Multiplayer Mod really extends the life of Just Cause 2.

Get Games is running a Lego themed sale this weekend. Several Lego titles including Lego The Lord of the Rings and Lego Harry Potter are 50% off. Might & Magic Heroes games are also 50% off right now. I highly recommend puzzle fans pick up Clash of Heroes. The game was originally released for the Nintendo DS and has received HD graphics for the PC release.

Gamefly has a 20% off coupon for May, GFDMAY20, that works on many titles including several on sale. The Witcher 1& 2 bundle is on sale for $9.59 with the coupon. I highly recommend the series for hard core RPG fans. The world is well crafted and can easily take up many hours of time. The Risen series is also on sale for $9.99 with the coupon code. Risen 1 is a little rough on the edges, but fans of action RPGs who are looking to escape Skyrim for a while will have fun with Risen’s pirate themed world. GameFly also has several Star Wars themed games on sale in celebration of May the 4th. The coupon code works with these titles, knocking some prices lower than Steam’s. Strategy and sim fans haven’t been left out of the cold. Omerta: City of Gangsters and Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants have been bundled together and put on sale for $19.99.

Amazon is running a large Codemasters publisher sale this weekend. The best deal is the Codemaster Action Pack containing seven games is only sale for 77% off. The pack contains Overlord 1 and 2, game full of British humour and evil minions to command. I highly recommend checking those two titles out if you are looking for a laid back but fun hack ‘n slash.
