Kodansha USA will not rescue any more Del Rey titles

kodansha-usa-logo
Kodansha USA have now confirmed through their official Tumblr page what many had speculated for quite some time now, they will no longer be rescuing any more Del Rey manga titles. Kodansha USA took over publishing under Random House’s manga inprint replacing Del Rey in 2010.

After the take over, Kodansha USA rescued popular Del Rey titles such as Air Gear, Fairy Tail, Genshiken, NegimaPhoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Shugo Chara!, and The Wallflower. It seems now that the time for rescuing titles has long passed.

Kodansha USA look to be setting out to make their own mark, already having revived the Sailor Moon manga series in the West, a move which received wide-spread acclaim. Unfortunately a number of Del Rey titles will not be rescued for further release under the Kodansha USA brand, but that doesn’t mean that other companies can’t reach out to make the save should they choose to.

"Stand tall, Eren!"
“Stand tall, Eren!”

Imagine-nation, the anime/manga/game spotlight show, recently had an episode where they featured the the Spring Anime release Attack on Titan. They discussed a great deal of things like; the context of the series, it in relation to the Japanese industry of Anime and Manga, a look at the series from behind the scenes and more.

The two videos below focus on the behind the scene segments of the show and really give a good insight into Attack on Titan. It also shows the amount of work and dedication that goes into making a series of this caliber.

The only thing you must keep in mind before watching either (or both) of these two videos is that some of the stuff that will be spoken of or shown will most likely be spoilers for the Anime so view at your own risk, guys and girls.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s “Ora Ora Border T”

Last week Bandai released a video showing off the newest item in it’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure line. It’s called the Ora Ora Border T and with a little help from a smart phone app you could be the owner of your very own Star Platinum Stand!

Pretty sweet designs huh?
Pretty sweet designs huh?

The shirt and app combination uses AR Technology (much like what Nintendo does with the 3DS) to give off the illusion of activating a Stand like the characters in the series. When you shoot video of the shirt through Bandai’s Nextpets app (iOS and Android) the virtual star platinum appears and proceeds to yell his signature “Ora Ora Ora” shout. This can all be seen in the video.

Last month Bandai’s Beams Online shop began selling the shirt in black-on-white and purple-on-black for 5,040 yen or about US$50. A brand new colour, green-on-black, will go on sale this month.

Check out both the Gallery section and the Featured Video section below to fill your “Ora Ora Ora” needs and don’t forget to drop us a line in our comments section.

Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Blade and The Punisher Film Rights Return to Marvel

Marvel-Movie-Properties-01

About 2 weeks ago at an Iron Man 3 press conference, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed that the Daredevil movie rights had returned to Marvel. Now, so have Ghost Rider, Blade and The Punisher‘s reportedly.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that we can expect a new film in these series any time soon, as Feige stated;

There comes a time in contracts where, if a studio is done making the movies, [the characters] come home. That doesn’t mean we’re going to make another movie. But it means they’re back in the fold, which is where we want them to be.

All it means is that the former film rights had expired and so, legally, Marvel have reattained them. But there’s always hope, and you’d have to imagine with the massive success of The Avengers that these great characters could be integrated into Phase 4, or maybe even Phase 3 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

Street Fighter Moves Coming to Remember Me

Remember-Me-Combo-Lab-01
Moves sound familiar?

In the upcoming neo-Paris, cyberpunk title Remember Me, Capcom are throwing in a little homage to their premiere franchise – Street Fighter.

As seen in the image above (found on the game’s Steam product page), if you pre-order Remember Me from Steam, you will receive what is called the “Combo Lab Pack”, featuring three exclusive ‘pressen moves’: the Flash Kick, the Spinning Bird Kick and the Dragon Punch. These moves are trademarks of Guile, Chun-Li and Ken, respectively, from Street Fighter. These attacks can be incorporated into your custom combo chains. Although a nice nod, it shouldn’t come as a surprise as Yoshinori Ono Street Fighter IV producer – has been consulting with the developer Dontnod Entertainment in creating a fluid combat system.

Remember Me is coming out June 7th here in Australia.
