telltale-games-poker-night-2-01

Quick, name your favourite Telltale Games character. I’m pretty sure Claptrap is appropriately disappointed at your choice of a far more versatile, playable character. Now imagine a sequel to a game where they all play poker against each other. Now stop imagining, because that game is being released!

An achievement in cross console cross-promotion, Poker Night 2 is stacked with unlockables that are accessible in heaps of big name titles, such as Borderlands  2 and Team Fortress 2. With exclusives for every platform and tonnes of in-game unlockables too, there’s a lot of meat to this poker game. There are also characters from classic properties like The Evil Dead’s Ash and the Venture Bros.

If that’s not enough, the atmosphere of the Inventory, a bar hosted by Moxxi that holds the tournament, can be skinned if you win upgrades as well. Play cards in an Aperture lab – why not? It seems safe enough. While the game is out tomorrow iOS owners will have to wait a short while until it is available to them.

Grab the game here as of tomorrow.

Pre-Alpha Footage of Total War: ROME II

total-war-rome-2-01

Total War: ROME is an enduring classic. With the sequel due out sometime this year we’re being drip fed a whole bunch of sweet goodies by Sega and The Creative Assembly.

Here’s the newest drip down the feeder, the historic battle of Teutoburg Forest. How do you feel about learning while procrastinating? If you’re cool with that then take the 12 minutes out of your day to watch this clip.

A few nods to new mechanics can be found within. Mostly, however, this video kinda just shows you where they’re up to with the level design. Pre-alpha level considered, this game looks like it’s going to end up with a great polished look when it’s released.

Hotgen release Link It Free to play on iTunes store

link-it

Some news for all you puzzle fans out there as popular mobile developer Hotgen release the innovative Link It, a new puzzle game whihc is now available for free via the App. store. The premise of the game is to challenge players to find a common word that can be used both before and after 2 other words to ‘link’ them together.  For example, given both the clues ‘brick and ‘wall’ a player would need to decipher the answer ‘paper’ to link both the clues.

“Link It? Is a new take on a classic formula,” says James Stewart, producer, Hotgen. “Instead of the more typical and direct word association type puzzle games, we wanted to do something a little bit different with Link It? Figuring out what word literally links the two clues together rather than sussing out a common trait is what sets Link It? Apart and it’s not as simple as it sounds.”

With more than 150 different puzzles to try your hand at, Link It is a must for those who consider themselves quick thinking puzzlers, as well as anyone who enjoys word puzzles with a twist and is available now for free from the iTunes App Store on both iPhone and iPad.

Lost Planet 3 Multiplayer Details Arise

lost-planet-3-banner

Lost Planet 3 is making it’s way to consoles in August, but Capcom have now come forth to give us a bit of insight on the multiplayer mode. Personally, I thought the strongest thing about Lost Planet 2 was the game’s Multiplayer, and it looks like that along with a tight single player campaign, a lot has went into making this mode great.

Here are the details of what can be found in Lost Planet 3’s multiplayer, but keep in mind that the game will have four individual modes, with only half revealed as of today:

  • Scenario Mode sets each team a series of either offensive or defensive challenges and mixes them up with the extreme and unpredictable conditions of E.D.N. III. Players can compete in both third person on-foot action and in first person combat using the futuristic Vital Suits, making this a dynamic gameplay experience.
  • Akrid Survival sees two teams of three players compete independently of each other in a series of encounters against waves of hostile Akrid before the teams go head to head in a final PvP elimination round

Sounds decent thus far, but for a further look, watch the new trailer down below. Lost Planet 3 launches for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on August 27th.
