Insurgency Joins Steam’s “Early Access” Community

Following the highly successful “Early Access” campaign back in March, INSURGENCY has been announced to be coming to the new Steam Community. Now for those unfamiliar, this program allows players to try the game as it is developed, throughout Alpha and Beta stages.

For a limited time, those who grab the game now can get it for $14.99, which is 25% off retail value.

So what is INSURGENCY about?

INSURGENCY is a tactical, team-based first-person shooter for up to 32-plus players designed for Windows PC, Mac OS X (and later on Linux), using Valve’s Source Engine and distributed through the Steam platform. If the name INSURGENCY sounds familiar, that’s because it’s based on the popular total conversion for Half-Life 2 — Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat — that saw more than a million free downloads and was awarded the ModDB “Player’s Choice Mod of the Year” in 2007.

Very interesting deal to say the least. You can go the the storefront page for the game here, and check out the game’s official forums by following this link.

Zordix Return with Aqua Moto Racing 3D

aqua-moto-01

Yes, you heard that right. The very odd but lovable developer Zordix have returned, and are releasing Aqua Moto Racing 3D to the 3DS eShop. As you would expect, this romp takes place on the water, and sort of reminds me of Wave Race, but a little less flashy.

Features Include:

Selected Features

  • Dynamic “Real water”.
  • Local Multi-play.
  • Stunts for boost
  • Career mode

I am glad we have real water here as opposed to fake water, as no one likes racing on apple juice or milk. You can check out the trailer and new screenshots down below, and expect this title to be out later this year.

eJay Kickstarter Unsuccessful but Not Dead

When Wired Productions decided to take its new idea to the people, they lapped it up. The Kickstarter campaign for eJay Pure ended yesterday, with the goal of bringing back the classic PC music editor.

While they weren’t successful in raising the £150,000 they required the eJay team aren’t calling it quits. Over a third of the amount required was raised, displaying a strong interest in the product.

eJay emphasises smooth user interfaces while having tonnes of sound packs to accommodate whatever is popular with its users, from K-Pop samples to 8-bit chip tune.

All in all, the project has given Wired Productions a few successes. Online radio station www.ejaypure.com has been more popular than at first assumed and will continue to supported as Wired Productions looks for another avenue to market.

Ride to Hell: Route 666 Races Out with Trailer

After releasing the trailer for the retail game for their new game universe, Deep Silver has finally put out a trailer for the arcade game due out this summer. Developed by Black Forest Games, Ride to Hell: Route 666 looks like an interesting title, focused not on the main character for Ride to Hell: Retribution, but instead an interesting combination of strategy and brawling, while riding a motorcycle.

If that combination sounds confusing to you, well you aren’t alone, but thankfully with the new trailer it is easier to understand just how the game will work. While gameplay is a little limited, instead focusing on the games art and action, there are a few telling snippets of what to expect. Seems the game will task players will figuring out the ideal formations and biker types to place, then put the plan into action and dish out tickets for the gun show, both kinds, as they set out to conquer Route 66.

Players can check out the trailer for Ride to Hell: Route 666 embedded below and see how it looks and the little bit of how it’ll play, to gear up for its release this summer for XBLA, PSN, and PC.

In other related news, the public voice has spoken as the 5th faction will be Draconians. Master of Magic and Master of Orion artist George Edward Purdy has lent his hand in the creation of this new faction, and the Wastelands Interactive team is happy to release such craftsmanship early on.

If the project yields $35,000 or more, a 7th faction will be introduced to the 4X strategy title. Only you can make this happen by going to their Kickstarter page and donating (here). Nonetheless, the team is extremely excited and very thankful for all of those that have supported the title thus far and allowing the game to become possible.
