New Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z Trailer

battle-of-z-screenshot-01

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is the upcoming team fighting game from Namco Bandai. It separates itself from other DBZ fighting games with its heavy emphasis on team combat, allowing players to face off against each other in 4 v 4 team battles.

At this year’s TGS 2013 conference, a new trailer for the game was shown. Most of the footage in the trailer is brand new, and showcases a lot of the gameplay mechanics and features that players can look forward to when the game launches early next year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita. I personally was chuckling as I watched the trailer, who’s narrator sounds like a 2am infomercial salesman. Nevertheless, the game looks awesome and the trailer is more than worth your time to check out.

We also found out that players who purchase the Day One edition of the game will unlock a special alternate costume for Goku. Players will be able to clothe Goku in Naruto Uzumaki’s Sage Mode outfit from Naruto Shippuden. This shows a growing collaboration between the two fan favourite anime/manga series, as the Day One edition of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 had a special Goku outfit for Naruto to wear.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think of the game? Will you be picking it up, or is it just about time that they left Dragonball Z alone? final-fantasy-xv-lucis-city

While we were warned that no new information or footage will be shared on Final Fantasy XV, that hasn’t stopped Square Enix from releasing something.

That something happens to be a re-edit of the E3 2013 Announcement and Gameplay trailers with a scant few glimpses of additional footage. The main point of interest here is the user interface that shows up during gameplay segments. At 2:09 you can see a mini map brought up and at 2:57, a communication window of Ignis talking to Noctis.

Final Fantasy XV was announced for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and is yet to receive a release date. You can see the new trailer below.

Ubisoft IPSOS Study Reveals ‘Just Dance Generation’

Just-Dance-2014-IPSOS-01

Ubisoft have announced the results of a study conducted by research institute IPSOS, which looks at the way modern teenagers use digital technology, and the role it plays in their social lives.

Aside from the confirmation that technology does not isolate teenagers from real life (as we already knew), the survey showed that teens use dance games to enhance their social lives and reflects their love for music in a positive way, whilst bringing them closer to both family and friends – hence why the generation has been affectionately dubbed by Just Dance developers Ubisoft the “Just Dance Generation”.

Just-Dance-2014-Digital-Days-01

Here are some quoted specifics from the study;

The study highlights that video games form a part of daily life for this generation: 95% of them actively play video games, many on mobile devices (89%), but with a large majority also owning a game console (83%). Dance video games, like Just Dance, are much more than a solo pastime, offering a modern and inclusive way of getting together with friends or family of all ages to enjoy dancing and music:  94% of survey participants play dance games with friends, 89% with their family. 75% of those surveyed highlighted that the Just Dance series allows them to have a great evening together with friends and family, whilst 75% identified the game as a great way to get a party started.

Just Dance 2014 releases on October 1st nationwide for current generation consoles, and in November for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Here is Metal Gear Solid V’s TGS Gameplay Walkthrough

metal-gear-solid-v-tgs-demo

Konami showed off its next stealth powerhouse, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, during its Ground Zeroes portion with a presentation lead by none other than Hideo Kojima. The gameplay demo was set in the same level as when the game was first revealed, but instead a proper attempt at the level with more engaging commentary…if you can understand Japanese. Check out the off screen walkthrough below and the Making Of Quiet, if you haven’t yet.

The game’s mechanics seem more defined from when we last saw it, with new features such as tagging enemies and brief x-ray vision accompanying a UI that seems much more complete. These attempts to streamline and modernise the franchise has seen mixed reactions from fans, with some welcoming the changes while others likening it more to games like Splinter Cell. What is your take? Let us know!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been announced for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
