Playstation-app-02

After whispers and speculation all the way through this year, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has finally made an announcement on the features and release date of the ‘PlayStation App’. The new app for mobiles is coming soon for all the gamers who are geared to play the anticipated PS4 and it is by far on a whole new level compared to their current official app.

Designed to enhance the experience for gamers on their new console, the use of the app is extensive as it allows mobile devices to act as a second screen to support PS4 games. You can use it for many simpler uses as well such as easily accessing your PSN features, messaging people on your Friends List and browsing the official PlayStation website. The PS app can be downloaded for free onto smartphone and tablets which run on the popular systems; iOS and Android, and will become available in the US on the 13th of Nov and the 22nd of Nov in Europe.

PlayStation App comes with an astonishing variety of features that allow users to effortlessly enjoy the world of PlayStation. The crazy features that have been listed are as follows:

  • Direct access to various PSN features and information
Users can not only just access their own profiles, but also have the ability to access and filter their friends’ profiles. Also their is the ability to see and compare trophy accomplishments, exchange messages to friends with any PS system and users are notified about game invites and their friend’s shared activities.
  • Browse the official PlayStation website and access information
Users can access the PlayStation official website to browse through news, blogs and game information. The language and content of the website will depend on the country the user’s Sony Entertainment Network account is registered.
  • PS4 Second Screen Feature
Users can install PlayStation App onto their mobile devices to use as a second screen in supported games. For example on ‘The PlayRoom‘, a title pre-installed in all PS4 systems that requires PlayStation Camera, users can draw pictures on their mobile device screens and flick them towards the TV. The images then appear as a 3D object within the game.
  • Spectate other PS4 users’ gameplay
When users’ friends upload or begin live streaming their gameplay on PS4 systems, the friends’ activities are displayed on “What’s New” of the PlayStation App screen. When users tap on this notification, they can boot pre-installed applications, such as browsers, to spectate the uploaded gameplay. Users can also post comments on gameplay screenshots, footage and live streams.
  • Purchase game content on PlayStation Store
Users can purchase game content while away from home and download it directly onto their PS4, PS3, and PS Vita systems.
  • Use a mobile device as a simple remote to control the PS4 system
Once installed, users can use their PlayStation App to control their PS4 system as long as both devices have access to the same Wi-Fi access point. For example, users can switch their PS4 system to standby mode, startup their PS4 system from standby mode, and use their mobile phone as a keyboard for their PS4 system.

It looks like fans of the Ys series in Europe won’t have to wait for months to hear whether or not Ys: Memories of Celceta will be heading over to their region, as it has been announced today by NIS America that the company will be bringing the game to Europe in early 2014.

The North American release of the game is being handled by XSEED and they recently detailed the game’s main characters. As for the story itself, Ys: Memories of Celceta revisits the story of Ys IV with an all new story which will feature conspiracy, deception, and mystery. To go along with this announcement the company also released a number of anime screenshots which you can check out below.

Dying Light gets a couple Halloween screenshots

Considering Halloween is about forty-eight hours from now it only makes sense that any developer working on producing a horror game would take advantage of the spooky atmosphere to try and put out some Halloween themed screenshots and it looks like Warner Bros. and Techland have decided to do just that.

As you can see above, two new images of the game have been released. As for the game itself, Dying Light is set to be released in 2014 on the PC as well as both next-gen and current-gen consoles minus the Wii U. For those looking for more info on the game we recently were able to check it out at an event and you can find our impressions here.

While, at the moment at least, there seem to be no plans from NIS America or other Western companies to bring the PlayStation 3 exclusive Fairy Fencer F to the West gamers won’t have to import it to try out the game. Compile Heart is planning on releasing a demo for the game on the Japanese PlayStation Network on October 31st.

Since demos are of course free and creating a Japanese PSN account is rather simple, this means gamers worldwide will be able to sample the demo which will allow players to check out the game’s battle system while taking control of Fang, the protagonist, Harler the mad scientist and Pipin which is a strange green creature.

Drakengard 3’s weapons introduced in latest screens

Drakengard-3-weapons- (12)

When Drakengard 3 is released there will be a number of weapon that Zero can use to take down the numerous enemies that will stand in her path and these weapons can be switched between while the player is actually in battle. The four weapons are somewhat standard, with a sword being the most balanced weapon with launching attacks, flowing combos and plenty of shed blood to make it easier to activate Zero’s special abilities.

To accompany this weapon there is a spear which, while more damaging with a longer reach it is slower, fist weaponry which has short range but is quick and easy to chain combo attacks and finally a chakram weapon which will allow players to clear out crowds with low damage but extensive reach. From the looks of these screens, the chakrams look like they will be my weapon of choice. Currently Drakengard 3 is set to be released in the West by Square Enix sometime in 2014.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction Trailer Has No Dinosaurs

call-of-duty-ghosts-extinction

Following the launch trailer last week, Activision has gone and surprised everyone by revealing a new co-op mode for Call of Duty: Ghosts before it’s even out. While Treyarch found success with Nazi Zombies, Infinity Ward are adding aliens to their modern warfare shooter. Check out the trailer below.

Described as a survival, base defence and scavenging mode for up to four players, Extinction is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape with aliens running amok and trying to kill you. Looking at the title, you’d expect dinosaurs but I guess that’s asking for too much these days. Come on DICE, given your Easter eggs in previous games we know you’re making a dinosaur mode for Battlefield 4. Right? No?

Call of Duty: Ghosts is coming out on November 5 for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U with a release on next-gen consoles soon to follow.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z Demo Coming Soon

DBZ-battle-of-z-tgs- (20)

Fans of Dragon Ball Z eager to try the latest game in the series won’t have to wait until release day to do so. Namco Bandai recently announced at a conference in London that the game will be receiving a demo sometime in December for the PS3 and Xbox 360 (it is unclear if the demo will be for Vita as well but it seems likely). The demo will feature both single player and online battles so players can try all aspects of the game and any progress you make will continue into your full purchase should you buy the game when it releases.

The conference also unveiled that there would be a limited edition of the game coming to Europe (and I assume Australia as has happened in the past). The limited edition is called the “Goku Edition” and comes with a statue of Goku in his Super Saiyan form as well as an art book in addition to the day one DLC Naruto Sage mode costume for Goku. North America hasn’t received many Dragon Ball Z game limited editions in the past and unfortunately this might be no exception. The Goku Edition is only available for the PS3 and 360 releases as the Vita is getting a digitial only release.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is launching in January worldwide with Australia to receive the game the same day as Japan on January 23rd, 2014. Europe will receive the game on the 24th while the game launches in North America on the 28th. Stay tuned to Capsule Computers for more information on Battle of Z as it becomes available.

Noucome Episode 3 Impressions

Noucome-Episode-3-Impressions-1

Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Comedy wo Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru
Episode 3 – ① Girls und Panty Shots ② You Want to See Underwear Even if it’s a Guy’s?

I am a picky man when it comes to comedy. If something is silly for the sake of being silly I will be the first to leap on it and tear it to shreds. That is not to say though that wacky ideas have no place in anime, or that all comedy should be serious and expertly crafted, quite the opposite in fact. For instance, one of that anime that inspired me to become a reviewer was the Fall 2011 surprise anime of the season, Ben-To. An utterly ridiculous anime with an off-the-wall concept, but what made it so brilliant in my eyes was its refusal to drop any hint that it was concious of its own silliness. Taking itself utterly seriously despite the clearly mad idea that it was based on made every joke twice as funny while also immersing you in the world and actually making you think that fighting over half priced food was insanely epic. So far Noucome is no Ben-To in my eyes, but it is achieving one thing that may secure its place in the greats if it can keep it up, its gimmick is seeming less like a gimmick and is actually serving a purpose.

Noucome-Episode-3-Impressions-2

At first glance Noucome seems like a generic harem with a funny idea behind it and I am certainly not going to claim that it is anything more than that 3 episodes in, but I have a good feeling about it thus far. Today’s episode was a direct continuation from last week‘s mini-cliffhanger involving Kanade overhearing a surprise confession from the otherwise stony Yukihira. What I loved about this introduction was how in a matter of seconds they turned what looked like maybe the start of a romance back into exactly what it was before via a quick uppercut, knocking him out, and wiping his memory. It was a nice bait-and-swap trick that completely got me and left me in stitches. Not to mention, Yukihira’s initial reaction where she lit up like a stop light and stammered his name like the secret moe girl that lies under that fake cold aura she puts on.

Noucome-Episode-3-Impressions-3

After last week’s efforts to make Yukihira laugh completely failed it looked like Kanade might have failed his task at the first hurdle, but in the end all it took was a gravity defying slip on a banana peel to have both her and myself rolling on the floor laughing. You simply can’t beat the classics. This week’s challenge seemed easy by comparison, “Spot Yawakaze Konagi’s panties being worn.” It’s just one quick panty shot, nothing could go wrong right? Well … Apparently not in the world of Noucome where a schoolboy can be cursed with absolute multiple choice. At every corner he gets defeated, be it by the Yawakaze Bodyguards that beat him up on multiple occasions or the multiple other natural phenomena that get in his way. By far the funniest moment of the episode came towards the end when Konagi repeatedly falls over and every single time one of the many forms of anime censorship comes to her rescue and is pointed out in true parody fashion by Kanade. Damn those supernatural light beams! First To LOVE-Ru Darkness and now this!

Noucome-Episode-3-Impressions-4

God didn’t make Kanade’s quest easy by dropping some really obscene choices into the fray, but nothing that you wouldn’t expect having seen previous episodes. However, there were a few new comedic techniques thrown in like the occasional bits of self-narration which were very blunt and amusing. I really like how the series has set up the main character as being in an obscene situation which requires him to say rude things to girls and generally be an idiot, but keeps letting you in on his perspective where it is apparent that he is really sorry that he has to do these things. Having a main character that is not just a senseless pervert is nice in this situation and definitely helps the laughs keep on coming.

Noucome-Episode-3-Impressions-5

Romance wasn’t exactly a big factor of this episode, but we did get a bit more of an insight into Yūōji and Konagi who hadn’t really been touched on until now. Konagi was as moe as can be and even Kanade recognises it which is why he feels so bad having to put her through so much to see her panties. Yūōji on the other hand, seemed completely shameless until right at the end when she ran off after getting embarrassed when the wind blew her skirt up. Forget Yukihira being gap moe, I think Yūōji is the true gap moe character here! Either way there was enough moe goodness in this episode to sink a battleship and as a result the episode was wonderful. Fantastically funny, quick paced, and despite how stupid it was it had a surprisingly sharp wit which puts it a cut ahead of most of the other comedies this season.

Noucome-Episode-3-Impressions-6

On a side note, the “what-if” situations that seem to have become a recurring skit are just getting funnier and funnier. They’re probably the main reason I like the multiple choice gimmick so much. Let’s hope they continue to be this random and well executed.
