Oh, Japan! – #5 The Hair Clap Clip

Oh, Japan! is a weekly feature in which I chronicle the wierd, wacky and just plain crazy goings on in Japan. Because we all know, Japan is prone to doing things that make us Westerners say “Oh, Japan!”.

We have had video games, prank shows, music videos, game shows and now I present to you Japanese Commercials! This one is quite a doozy. The Japanese are well known for commercials that think out-side the box, to put it lightly. In this hair dye commercial, you are more than likely to end up clapping your hair back and forth than whipping it.

Check out the clip below and don’t forget; If you’re happy and you know it clap you hair! CLAP! CLAP!  What more can I say besides, Oh, Japan!

Gundam Cafe Visit

Big Fan of Gundam?… Well then this is the place to go! It opened in April 2010 and the Capsule Computers team randomly stumbled upon it on our stay in Tokyo for TGS. We sat down, had a couple of beers like typical Australian’s and felt like more people should know about it!

Located not far from the JR Station at the “Denkigai Exit” and just below the Yamanote line, Bandai Gundam Café is definitely something you should check if you stop by Akiahabra. I myself am not a hardcore fan, but it was evident that the atmosphere of Gundam was very present and the place had several fun facts about the series across its walls. On the menu you’ll find alcohol beverages, non-acoholic drinks, snacks, and interesting Gundam shaped cakes… We didn’t stay too long, but it was a great experience.

Check out the photos below, I even found some mild engrish!

Eden Eternal Update Coming Mid-September

0

It has been announced that Aeria Games will be releasing a content update for its fantasy MMORPG, Eden Eternal in Mid-September. This latest patch will include a new playable race, the Anuran, frog-like outgoing creatures known for their sense of humour; the ability to gather materials from established guild towns and craft items for characters level 30 and above; Gemcrafting, Engineering and Alchemy will be available to the Humans, the Zumi and the Anuran respectively; player shops, where individuals can set up their own stalls in the main town, Aven; and NPCs that will expand game progression for players.

Eden Eternal:

Eden Eternal transcends the limitations of a lot of free-to-play MMORPGs in terms of class allocation. You’ll begin the game as either a Warrior or a Magician, and as you progress through the world of magic and fantasy, you’ll be able to unlock up to 15 unique classes, three of which are still to be released in the coming months. This means that you’ll be able to change your class to any other one you have already unlocked, at any given time!

Now, after slashing some foes with an axe as a Warrior or causing some magical mayhem as a Magician, you feel like jumping into the shoes of childhood hero, Robin Hood? Become a Hunter then – after unlocking it of course. Turns out the bow and arrow ain’t your forte and you’d like to try your hands on some healing and buffing magic? Become a Cleric! Still unsatisfied? Then try any of the other classes in the vibrant and colourful world of Eden Eternal until you
find the right one, the one that best suits you!

Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011: Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Today during the Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011, Nintendo showed some footage of Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The footage showcased Mario, Sonic along with their friends and foes participating in power walking, wrestling and sprinting amongst other Olympic sports. What particularly nice to see with this footage is that the developers have stayed true to the characters’ personalities. Sonic moves like Sonic, Mario moves like Mario, etc. Although it’s kind of odd to think that Bowser has the capabilities of beating him in a sprinting race, but hey it’s all in good fun right?! Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is licensed through the International Olympic Committee’s interactive entertainment licensee International Sports Multimedia (ISM), and is coming to the Wii and 3DS and will feature more than 50 events-the largest number of Olympic sports franchise history! Unfortunately no release date has been announced yet, but expect to for it to be announced until later this year.

RAGE Tim Willits Interview

During my visit to the Aurora Bar for the hand-s on RAGE gameplay event, I was fortunate enough to meet the creative director of id Software himself, Mr Tim Willits. Tim was present at the event to help promote to the media and to fans of id games the gameplay features of their newest entry into the FPS market: RAGE, published by Bethesda. During the event, he walked around the floor, talked to the players and got some feedback as to their thoughts.

During a free moment of the event, I was also able to grab a quick audio interview with Tim. WE discussed how RAGE attempts to set itself apart from other FPS titles in the current market. We also discuss gameplay mechanics, including weapons, and listeners can hear Tim’s own account of the world of RAGE.

Culchobit Coming to 3DS

During Nintendo’s 3DS Conference 2011 some footage was shown for a 3DS soccer title called Culchobit (カルチョビット), coming in 2012. Sporting cute, cartoony and simplistic 8-bit graphics, Culchobit will place a focus on stats and is currently in development. It was also revealed that the game would contain multiplayer online support. Very little has been revealed about the rest of the game, I guess we’ll have to be a little more patient! Culchobit (カルチョビット) is set set for a 2012 release, and it is unknown at this point if it will be released outside of Japan or not. Check out our gallery below of screenshots from the Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011!
