The Settlers Online Adding New Upper Level Features

As players of any online MMO style game know, reaching the higher levels can often get boring as there is never much new to do, but understanding this Ubisoft and Blue Byte have added new content into The Settlers Online: Castle Empire specifically for high-levels, with a trailer for it to boot.

Adding in “Epic Raids” for The Settlers Online, those that have reached the higher levels will be able to take part in five new adventures based around well known fairy tales. In addition to these new adventures, the game will also be getting plenty of in-game content such as Magic Beans, Magic Beanstalks, and a new special the Quartermaster General, who while unable to lead armies can transport them quicker than any other general.

Daisuki Launches Anime Streaming on YouTube

Daisuke-youtube- (1)

Anime streaming service Daisuki began streaming its service on the popular video sharing website YouTube last Sunday. They have opted for a healthy mixture of  both classic anime and more modern, critically acclaimed anime including a number of beautifully animated series by SHAFT. The series that they are streaming include:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Bakemonogatari
Nisemonogatari
– Nekomonogatari (Black)
– Monogatari Second Season
Sword Art Online
– Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
– Mobile Suit Z Gundam
– Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
– School Days

While I firmly believe that School Days is one of the worst piles of trash to ever squirm its way out of Japan, the rest of the lineup is very strong and many are among the best anime ever created.

The service’s YouTube channel, found here, also includes music videos by the Visual Kei rock band vistlip, the Hakuōki musical, and the first episode of Little Witch Academia.

This move is just another  in a new wave of making anime more accessible to the western world through easy-to-use and affordable streaming. Recently manga has making similar strides by going digital and this was discussed at length in the latest CC Anime podcast which you can listen to here.

senran-kagura-burst-logo

It has been a long time coming and many fans have been asking for the game series to be localized in some form for quite some time, and that time is now. Today it was announced by XSEED Games that they have acquired the license to Senran Kagura Burst and are planning on releasing the title in English in North America as a download only title.

The game will be released sometime this Fall and managed to get past the ESRB with only a T rating, despite the suggestive nature of the series. To commemorate the game’s announcement the company released a handful of English screenshots as well as an English trailer for the game featuring the Japanese voice work which will be retained when the game is released.

For those who don’t know, Senran Kagura Burst contains not only the second game in the series, but also an upgraded version of the original Senran Kagura, meaning gamers will get two games in one. In the game players can play as five female ninjas, each with their own abilities as they fight against other ninjas. The game is known for the fact that when damaged, the girls’ clothing is ripped or sometimes torn off completely. No price for the title has been announced as of yet.

Owarimonogatari-1

NisiOisin‘s latest novel in the Monogatari series, the long awaited Owarimonogatari, is set to be released this fall according to the NisiOisin Anime Project’s Twitter account. This news comes just days after  the supposed release date slip-up by Sony regarding the Kizumonogatari movie, also set to release this fall.

Fans that can’t wait to dive into  the latest novel will be glad to know that the first story entitled “Ugi Formula” will be published on September 9th in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. This particular story in the Monogatari series will detail the events of when the main character Koyomi Araragi meets  a strange new girl called Ugi Oshino.

After being teased by a tentative April release date and then a summer release date that never happened, fans will be relieved that this seems to finally be set in stone. The sequel to Owarimonogatari is still seemingly planned for next year, but whether Zokuowarimonogatari meets its planned release date better than its predecessor is yet to be seen.

An anime adaptation of Monogatari’s second season is currently being aired and news of any future Monogatari developments can be found in our anime news section.

War of the Vikings Announced by Paradox Interactive

War-of-the-Vikings-Trailer-Screen-02

Paradox Interactive, cultivators of epic facial hair (their words, not ours), have just announced an all-new multiplayer action title called War of the Vikings that utilises the technology used in the 2012 medieval squad-based combat game War of the Roses – both are developed by Fatshark Games.

Be prepared to enter the Viking Age, where fighting is in every red-blooded male’s DNA. Whether sacking England as the mighty Norsemen, or defending the nation as a brave Saxon, you will design your own custom warrior with rich customisation options. The skill-driven, close-combat experience has never been so visceral or brutal before, with large scale 64-player battles amongst authentically inspired settings and with era-accurate weaponry. Executive Producer for the War of the Roses franchise, Gordon Van Dyke, said;

War of the Roses was a fantastic experience for us to launch, and as it’s evolved over time, eventually growing into its current Kingmaker edition, we’ve been inspired many times over by the possibilities of the close-combat genre. It’s clear to us that that there are many more experiences we can share with our players, and War of the Vikings is our next step in establishing Paradox and Fatshark as leaders in the art of online war.

War-of-the-Vikings-Trailer-Screen-01

Here is a list of War of the Vikings‘ features:

  • History Comes to Life (and then you kill it) – Historically inspired content from the Viking Age, including levels and environments, weapons, helmets, shields, and heraldry
  • Close Combat and Ranged Ravaging – Skill-driven fighting blends swinging, blocking, and dodging with intense ranged combat, including arrows, spears, and throwing axes
  • Mod Your Squad – Enhanced squad features allow players to define a role for their warriors in battle using custom squad perks to buff your hirdmen
  • A Viking to Your Liking – Design your own Viking or Saxon warrior, choosing everything from weapons and armor to battle perks, customized taunts to unhinge your foes, and a variety of beard options
  • Pick Your Battles – Game modes include up to 64-player epic battles, new hardcore “Pitched Arena” mode with 32 players and no respawns, and a Training Ground to test out new character builds
