compile-heart-agarest-war-countdown

Today a new teaser website has been launched by Compile Heart and it just so happens to be a countdown website. At the moment the site simply features a wrapped present with a countdown timer that is surrounded by various holiday images as well as bananas.

The text next to the bag roughly reads as “From Compile Heart, for every man: a hot present that will warm the heart and body.” It is also interesting to note that a few characters on the present’s tag have been revealed so far and they currently are pointing towards Agarest Senki, the Japanese name for the Record of Agarest War RPG series which has been quiet for a couple of years. The countdown is set to finish on Christmas Eve but there is always the possibility that more information will be revealed before that so stay tuned.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z Demo Out Now

battle-of-z-poster-01

It’s been a long time coming since the announcement in June but a demo for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is now available on the PSN for PS3 and PS Vita and on the Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360. The new brawler which allows for 8 players to battle it out at once promises an all new battle style with unique actions such as synchro rush and revive soul, new characters that will be playable for the first time such as Bills and Whis and new game modes such as Dragonball hunt.

While the demo is confirmed to be out for the Japanese and North American markets, the European and Oceania market releases should be coming in sometime today, hopefully before midday, so keep checking the PlayStation Store every hour or so if you are keen to give it ago. Unfortunately PSN release times are always a bit up in the air so we can’t say an official release time. For those waiting for the demo to release or finish downloading, Namco Bandai have also released a couple of videos of their developers playing through the demo in both the single player missions as well as online. You can check out both of these videos below.

DBZ-battle-of-z-tgs- (26)

The demo includes the first four missions of the games mission mode, four playable characters in Goku, Kid Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo, a multiplayer mission against Great Ape Vegeta in which an online team can be formed to help you take down the fearsome Saiyan and finally the battle mode where two teams of four compete in an online battle. If you purchase the full game, you can transfer all progress made in the game such as points, cards, log data and mission progress across at that time.

The demo for Battle of Z released yesterday on the Japanese PlayStation Store and both native gamers and eager foreign fans alike took to the message boards to discuss their opinions on the game and reaction so far has been mixed with a heap of positive and negative opinions. Check back very soon for our full review of the demo and leave your opinion below if you have played it for yourself. Be careful not to download the Vita version by accident if you are on the PS3… as I embarassingly did.

Dying Light Shines a Light onto Nighttime Gameplay

When Warner Bros. and Techland first showed off Dying Light‘s contrasting gameplay, they only briefly showed off the heart pounding suspense of nighttime. With just a glimpse of the change that comes over the undead in the night, there isn’t much to go on for what waits in the darkness of night. The newest gameplay video they’ve just released however shows off more of it.

Coming in a little under 10 minutes, the Dying Light nighttime gameplay video gives a better idea of what to expect when the sun comes down, but unfortunately doesn’t have another extreme chase sequence leaving that still a bit unknown. It does give an idea of what other things the player will be doing besides just gathering supplies, as electricity is pretty important to day to day life.

Those wanting to see what Techland is cooking up can find the gameplay video embedded below. Dying Light is currently set to release some time in 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Dubbed A REALM AWOKEN, the Patch 2.1 update offers a wealth of exciting new gameplay content, including:

The Crystal Tower: Reaching to the heavens, this massive monolith, long thought to be a legend from eras past, has been unearthed in the wake of the Calamity. What could be the purpose of this crystalline construct, and what forgotten relics now stir within its walls? Those who would unravel these mysteries must first win their way through the Labyrinth of the Ancients, the perilous maze that leads to the entrance of the tower proper.

Tackle this new dungeon with up to 24 players and do battle with the dark forces that have awoken within.

The Wolves’ Den: Named after a crew of Roegadyn Sea Wolves that first discovered this odd crucible-shaped island off the shores of Limsa Lominsa, this PvP Arena will soon open to all the Grand Companies of Eorzea, in the hope that the staged battles held here will raise the realm’s defences.

Housing: The Lavender Beds (Gridania), the Goblet (Ul’dah) and Mist (Limsa Lominsa) are the three distinctive residential districts of each of the city-states. Enjoy creating a unique base of operations for your free company members to call home. Purchase a plot of land and then start your build, with customizable fixtures for the house, as well as interior and exterior decorations and furnishings.

Thornmarch: The Moogles are trying to resurrect their legendary leader, Good King Moggle Mog XII. Will the return of this mythical being pose a threat for the Warriors of Light?

Beast Tribe Quests: Learn about the beast tribes of Eorzea in these daily quests.

Treasure Hunt: Search for buried treasure with up to four players to obtain rich spoils.

Aesthetician: A new quest has been added that will allow you to befriend an aesthetician of great talent.  Completing it will allow you to change your hairstyle, face paint, and more.

Hildibrand, Agent of Enquiry: Nashu Mhakarraca, Hildibrand’s faithful assistant will need to muster up all her powers of deduction to unravel the many mysteries that beleaguer Eorzea. Unusual zombie activity in Ul’dah, you say? This smells like a case!

Pharos Sirius: This abandoned lighthouse, strikingly pierced by corrupted crystals, has been made the domain of the siren of Umbra. Adventurers must venture within and defeat the seductress and her legion of undead minions if this beacon of civilization is to shine once more.

Haukke Manor (Hard), Copperbell Mines (Hard): New dangers and formidable foes await those who would dare revisit and test themselves against the new hard mode for each of these dungeons.

Duty Roulette: The Duty Roulette allows players to enter instanced dungeons, trials and guildhests at random. There are four roulette categories, each of which can be selected once per day and adventurers can reap some great bonus rewards.

The Howling Eye (Extreme), The Navel (Extreme), The Bowl of Embers (Extreme): New extreme battles against three primals: Garuda, Titan and Ifrit.

The Minstrel’s Ballad: Ultima’s Bane: Test yourself against the Ultima Weapon once more in this new hard-mode boss battle.

Main Scenario Quests: Where there is light, there is always shadow. The beast tribes persist in their efforts to summon the primals. The once defeated Garlean forces resurface, harbouring renewed ambitions of conquest. And the baleful Ascians lurk in the shadows, their presence rousing dark forces long since forgotten.

As new threats emerge, adventurers must once again heed the Crystal’s call.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is available now on the PlayStation®3 system and Windows PC and comes to PlayStation 4, April, 2014. A free 30-day trial is included for new accounts, with monthly subscriptions starting at £7.69 / 10.99 €.

Dying Light shows its dark side in a new gameplay video

Dying Light shows its dark side in a new gameplay video

Techland and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released today a new gameplay video from Dying Light, showcasing the darker side of the game’s revolutionary day-and-night-cycle mechanic. The video gives a glimpse into different strategies that players will adopt depending on the time of day in order to survive.

Slow, apathetic, and easily visible, the infected are not much of a threat in daylight. A skilled courier, sure of their parkour skills and smart enough not to engage in combat with too many enemies, can effortlessly avoid larger groups of the infected or escape beyond their reach. But this relatively safe state of affairs is turned upside down as the sun sets!

At night, it is you who is at a disadvantage. Without daylight, the senses of the infected become more acute while their thirst for human flesh skyrockets. They run, jump, and climb, so there is really no place where you are safe anymore. They grow in strength, which means fighting them is not even an option. Those of them who were too afraid of light to come out during the day now swarm the city hunting for you. Still, there is something even worse lurking in the shadows…

See it with your own eyes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioM4UcNDiO0

What tactics will you use to survive the night? Will you put your trust in your agility and try to outrun the infected despite the odds? Or use the lack of light to your advantage and sneak past them? Remember, your decision determines if you will see the sunrise today!

Dying Light is a first-person action survival horror game set in a vast and dangerous open world, where players scavenge for supplies during the day as to be best prepared to survive the night. The game will launch for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2014.

King Unveils First Ever Parallel World of Play for Candy Crush Saga

King Unveils First Ever Parallel World of Play for Candy Crush Saga

The world’s most-popular social game invites players to enter the magical new ‘Dreamworld’

LONDON & NEW YORK: 17 DECEMBER 2013: King, the world’s leading casual games company, today announced the first ever expansion of their global hit game Candy Crush Saga. Titled ‘Dreamworld’ and available from today across Facebook and mobile platforms (iOS and Android), this new game mode will transport players to a parallel world of dream-inspired levels, introducing a magical twist to the traditional Candy Crush Saga game.

This enchanting new ‘Dreamworld’ mode is unlocked for existing and new Candy Crush Saga players after they’ve completed Level 50 on the Saga map. Once unlocked, a new dream-like Saga map becomes available where players can experience the earlier levels of the game again but in a challenging new way.

In ‘Dreamworld’ a magical new character, Odus the Owl, introduces an additional layer of gameplay. It’s all about equilibrium – keep Odus the Owl perched on his half-moon by crushing the correct coloured candies which consequently keeps him steady and stable.

In addition, players can look forward to new mesmerising special effects including the ‘Moon Struck’ reward which introduces a new game state where some coloured candies are removed from the board, making it easier to complete the level.

“We’re thrilled to offer new and existing Candy Crush Saga players an exciting new way of playing the game” says Tommy Palm, Games Guru at King. “We hope that the new ‘Dreamworld’ mode will prove a fun twist for newcomers to the game and a tantalising challenge for our loyal fanbase. As with all our games, we endeavour to offer our valued players a regular flow of exciting new content – we hope that they will love the new map, as much as we’ve enjoyed developing it.”

With 65 ‘Dreamworld’ levels available at launch, player progression on mobile devices will seamlessly synchronise with Facebook so they can unlock new levels and access leaderboards wherever and whenever they like, without losing their progress in the game.

The ‘Dreamworld’ levels are available now on Facebook, Android and iOS devices.
