We are still a ways off from the Nintendo 3DS’ release, but that doesn’t mean Capcom doesn’t want to tease us with some brand new screenshots for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D which will be hitting the new handheld next year.
The screens honestly are kind of a preview in a way for the kind of graphics gamers should be expecting on the 3DS, and by the looks of it this may be the strongest handheld to date as these images are beautiful. Now graphics aside, the game itself is looking pretty awesome as well, and as you can see we now have clarification that Claire Redfield, Chris, Wesker, and Hunk will all be playable. The idea of having a game based on the popular mode to me is great anyway, so I am ready to see even more features that this game has to offer as I am sure it is jam packed with some fan service to longtime Resident Evil Fans. For now, you can feast your eyes on these new images below and we will keep you updated when Capcom releases even more info on this new 3DS title.
Yes, you heard it right. A web store for the browser, by one of Apple’s largest competitor. It looks like this is going to be Google’s attempt to take on Apple’s Mac App Store, which is scheduled to open before Christmas this year. The Chrome Web Store is just opened 2 days ago, on the 7th of December. It mainly builds on its previously available extensions, themes and utilities for their popular browser. Basically, they made everything downloadable for the Chrome under one store, and rebrand it as the ‘Chrome Web Store’. At the moment, paid apps on the store are only available for the US, but they promised to expand it internationally in the near future (early next year).
I see several interesting games on it, like Plants vs Zombies which has already infiltrated every device possible. Other than that, Electronic Arts also brought a lot of games to the Web Store to reach out to the gamers on Google’s popular browser. To name a few, FIFA Superstars, Poppit and Mirror’s Edge 2D. Apart from games, the store also has apps for Communication, Education, Entertainment, Family, Lifestyle, News, Productivity and Utilities. Check them out if you happen to have Google Chrome installed on your computer. If you happen to be like me, who never turns off her laptop and left her Chrome running for weeks, restart it. You should be prompt to install the Chrome Web Store. Have fun!
What happens when you take what used to be an iPhone game and upgrade it so that it looks amazing on the PS3? You get Dungeon Hunter: Alliance. Gameloft has announced that they will be bringing Dungeon Hunter: Alliance to the PSN and will allow players to team up with three other heroes to travel through dungeons and defeat monsters to accomplish the quests set for them.
There is even a twist to the game, the whole reason that the world has fallen into such chaos and evil abominations roam the world is because of the Queen. Though the Queen herself was once your main character’s love! Interesting to see how the story will take place, but one thing we can tell from the trailer below is that DH: A has a Diabloesque feeling to it. But don’t take my word for it, take a peek at the trailer and be ready for Dungeon Hunter: Alliance to be available on the PSN January of next year.
The game itself will have these unique features that are set to take audiences by storm:
A unique multiplayer experience on PlayStation®Network: play locally or with your Friends, or team up online with players across the globe! The game difficulty will adapt to the number of players. Do your training and climb the ranks in the online global leaderboards.
A real quest to complete solo or with others, spanning over 30 levels with an immense world of dungeons, villages and forests to explore, including areas that are randomly generated. Gothicus will never cease to amaze you!
A level of production rarely achieved on PSN: graphics and special effects rivaling retail games, smooth animation even during multiplayer sessions, and a dark gothic ambiance that immerses you in the heart of the action.
All the ingredients for a great role-playing game: choose your class, optimize your hero’s development by assigning experience points to the attributes of your choice, and equip your hero with the best armor thanks to the items you collect throughout your adventure.
A fun “hack & slash” gameplay adapted to your preferences: choose between classic controls (with a wireless controller) or innovative controls thanks to compatibility with the PlayStation®Move motion controller to recreate a “point & click” experience similar to PC games.
Let me say that Gameloft has found an absolute winner with Eternal Legacy !! My hands on preview of the game yesterday actually blew me away to how similar it was Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII. For anyone who’s a fan of turn-based Japanese RPGs, Eternal Legacy for the Apple iPhone is looking like one of the most polished J-RPGs ever to reach the iPhone.
Personally I never knew it would have been possible to walk around with a JRPG that contains well over 40 majestic regions all rendered in full 3D with well over 60 hours worth of gameplay. Oh and did I mention it plays, looks and feels EXACTLY like FINAL FANTASY XIII all in the palm of your hand – yes I believe I did, but I wanted to make sure you were all aware of this because Gameloft should be commended on creating an amazing title that might look like Final Fantasy on the surface but the deeper you delve into it the more you will discover that a great amount of time and effort has gone into creating a massive unique world with a gripping and absorbing story and amazing unforgettable characters and enemies.
Eternal Legacy takes place in the sci-fi fantasy world of Algoad where robots and magic and guns and swords are all real. You take on the role of a young man by the name of Astrian who ultimately must save Algoad from total destruction and restore peace to the living bond between humankind and nature.
The first section of the game is a well designed tutorial that will introduce you to your hero and the games simple to use control system. Straight away I could see a huge improvement graphically over other Gameloft titles, character models actually have moving mouths when they spoke (also the voice acting in the game is superb – everyone I encountered in the first section of the game replied verbally, no more reading and that is a huge plus).
The first few battles will explain how to use your basic weapons, skills, magic, items, assigning battle commands and tactics to your two AI controlled team members which join your party within the first 10 mins of the game. At any point in time up to three characters can take to the battlefield, and as you progress through the game you’ll pick up teammates along the way and have the option to select and swap over your AI team that best suits your current situation. You can also queue up three different attacks one after the other in quick succession and then watch them execute as soon as your action gauge is filled. Best piece of information I could recommend to anyone already familiar with turn based RPG’s or new to the genre is to take your time and fully understand and read all the tutorial notes so you can enjoy what the game has to offer so you can play it to its full potential.
Battles take advantage of the full 3D artwork with character models nicely animated when performing regular, special and magic attacks. As with all JRPGs there will be an abundance of random battles, this is something that you can’t hide from. It what makes a JRPG what is it, so expect to run into many enemies along the way. One thing I discovered pretty quickly which I wasn’t very happy about was that all enemies you encounter and battle don’t have a health bar. Not sure if this was missing due to the preview build, but anyway this could make the game a little harder for some players, but then again it will keep you on your toes and make you strategize and think what kind of attack you should use next as you’ll never know how much HP the enemy has left. (On a side note ** usually JRPGs don’t often put health bars for enemies, this sort of information is usually either found out through a skill of some sort or left in the dark and to be estimated by the player if they have encountered them before)
Having the ability to choose your own path, do sub quests to gain extra items and much needed experience and interact with the environment, items, people and enemies plus solve puzzles to advance further the game, Eternal Legacy is certainly jam packed with so much content that you will find it hard to believe this sort of game can run on an iPhone. Fans of JRPGs or newcomers eager to get into this style of game should seriously consider picking this Eternal Legacy once it’s released in the iTunes store in the next few days as you won’t find anything else quite like it. Will you have what it takes to save the beautiful world of Algoad? I believe you can because I surely will surely going to be giving it my shot at it!!
The long delayed RPG Two Worlds 2 will finally be released to store shelves in both the United States and the UK after many months of waiting. Although the game has been released in Europe for a few months now many people have been sitting in the dark still waiting to see how different Two Worlds II is from its low rated prequel. That wait will soon be over because SouthPeak announced that the game will be released on January 25th for both the US and UK.
Before I mentioned that the game has seen a release in Europe for a few months and has done quite well for itself. Being released on the Xbox 360 and PC the game has sold over a million copies which is very good considering the history behind Two Worlds releases. It also received general praise but it will interesting to see how well the game will sell next year when it is released for the US and UK.
It’s starting to feel a lot like the holidays around the world with retail stores clamoring for consumer’s money by offering the best deals. But what is the best way to ring in the holidays? How about with a plasma cutter and loads of severed limbs? If it that sounds like your way of having a great time then you are in luck because EA announced that they will be launching their single player Dead Space 2 demo on the XBLA and PSN December 21st in the US and the 22nd in Europe.
The section of the game that will be demo’d will give players a chance to be reintroduced to the series as a whole and just who exactly Isaac Clarke is after we last saw him, but this time he is going to be taking a terrifying journey through the Church of Unitology which is literally crawling with Necromorphs. But then again Isaac has a new weapon in his arsenal to take them down, the Javelin Gun and even his new boot jets to give him 360 degree maneuverability in zero gravity.
Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis had this to say about the upcoming demo release:
“Releasing the demo five weeks before launch will not only reconnect players with our hero Isaac Clarke, but will also give them the opportunity to experience firsthand various jaw-dropping scenarios. It’s gonna be awesome.”
“Games for the Holidays” is microsoft’s upcoming festive game promotion. Each week starting on December 22nd, a new game will come out from MGS. These games vary in style and leave plenty of room for something for anyone. The unique feature in these games, is that each of the games feature the characters from the other two games, so you can play as any of the characters within any of the games.
Here are the release dates for the three games:
December 22: A World of Keflings, 800 Microsoft Points
December 29: Raskulls, 800 Microsoft Points
January 5: ilomilo, 800 Microsoft Points
Below is a new video showing gameplay from A World of Keflings, Raskulls and ilomilo.
Last year Unlock Xbox held a competition that required people to think of game concepts and then pitch them in hopes of getting their games created for the whole world to play. Well, 2 finalists were picked and over the last year their games have been in development. The two games are now available for everyone to download from the xbox dashboard COMPLETELY FOR FREE!! These games are full arcade titles with 200 gamerscore to unlock and online modes. Each also has gamer pictures to unlock.
I’ve played both games, and they are both quite fun. Did I mention they were free?
You don’t have any excuse not to download them, and should definitely play them and enjoy them.
Check out the trailers below for some insight on the games while you wait for them to download or if you are sitting at work. Also, don’t forget to vote for the best game on the poll that is located on your XBox dashboard.
An exclusive teaser trailer for Batman Arkham City has dropped and sadly it was incredibly disappointing. The teaser trailer consisted of a few short seconds of what seemed like splintercells being beaten up from the shadows. The ending reveals that it was Batman doing all the beating up.
What exactly did we learn from this teaser? That Batman can beat people up, and that he isn’t “trapped” after all. Sure it isn’t exactly satisfying but it is at least something.
Well that one game called warcraft came out and many of you are probably sucking your brains playing it. Break away from the evil and check out this weeks PSN update!
