While XSEED Games and FuRyu’s first-person dungeon crawling RPG, Unchained Blades, has been available on the PlayStation Portable (also playable on the Vita) since June of this year, the Nintendo 3DS version of the game has been in and out of limbo since the localization of the game was announced.
However today XSEED Games announced that Unchained Blades will be released onto the Nintendo 3DS eShop on January 3rd for $29.99. Along with the release date announcement, XSEED has also released a number of screenshots and a trailer for the game, both of which can be seen below. In case you are curious, you can find our review for the PSP version of the game here.
It’s becoming something of a habit for games to offer special bonuses for people who pick up launch copies of the game and Metro: Last Light will be no exception. Today THQ announced that anyone who picks up a copy of Metro: Last Light once it has been released will be given the “Limited Edition” version of the game which comes with some bonus Ranger Mode DLC and a “Ranger” loadout including a fancier gun and more high-grade ammo.
In Metro 2033, Ranger Mode gave players less ammo and players received more damage from enemies, making the game more about survival than other difficulty settings. It is also worth noting that if you pre-order the game on the PlayStation 3 (via the PlayStation Store only) you will be given a free digital copy of Homefront and a Metro Last Light PSN Theme.
Curious about when you will be able to pick up the enhanced version of the already enhanced Ninja Gaiden 2 on the PlayStation Vita? Then you’ll be happy to hear that Team Ninja has updated the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus website with a release date for the PlayStation Vita exclusive.
As you can see on the game’s official website, the game will be hitting stores in North America on February 26 while gamers in Europe will be able to buy the title on March 1st, unless you live in France then you can expect to see the title on February 28th. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus features a number of new enhancements, including switching between ninjas in the middle of battle and new costumes for Ayane, Rachel and Momiji.
While we may already know when Dead or Alive 5 Plus will be hitting European and Australian Vitas, gamers in North America have only had the vague Q1 2013 release window to work with. However today Team Ninja announced that Dead or Alive 5 Plus will be released in North America on March 19, a few days before the European release date.
Currently there have been no screenshots released for this Vita version of Dead or Alive 5, as the above image is for the console game. As for new features, nothing new has been revealed as of yet, but some already announced features include the ability to play the game with the Vita held vertically, fight someone in first-person mode and also activate attacks via “taps, swipes and pinches” on the touch screen.

There you have it folks, these games should keep you busy for quite some time, well till next week at least. I’ll be back next week for another dose of iOS goodness, in the meantime if anyone would also like to suggest their own suggestions, please feel free to share them in the comments section below or in the iOS forum section on the site here.
The first trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s epic monster battle film, Pacific Rim, has been released!
The film will come out in July of 2013, and will be available to watch on IMAX and in Real 3D. It stars the increasingly busy Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Diego Klattenhoff and, wait for it…Ron Perlman! (He’s pretty much a legend in geek circles)
As if you needed any more selling points for a film featuring building height robots battling other-dimension monsters, arisen from our deepest oceans, the trailer also reveals a familiar voice for us gamers; GLaDOS! That’s right, this is a triumph for the industry! Some may argue her place in the film, but I say it’s awesome. Do you think there’s a promotional cross-over planned?
Check out the trailer directly below and let us know your thoughts! This is going to be a mega-blockbuster next year! Oh, and I think it’s safe to say that there will be no cake in this movie.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine was really in 2009, but only this week have we been treated to a design reel showing all the variations of Deadpool considered for the film.
Amalgamated Dynamics Inc., the visual effects company tasked with nailing down the Deadpool character design, has released the reel on Youtube through their Studio ADI channel. It features 82 different versions and looks for the Merc with a Mouth (or without, in the case of the film). The official video description reads:
“Here, in quick succession, are 82 variations on Deadpool. It was our job to satisfy the many creative voices on the show, from director Gavin Hood to the Producers and Studio, so we generated a huge selection of artwork from complete direction changes to subtle variations like tweaks to eye color. This is why having a design phase at the start of preproduction is so valuable. We’ll never satisfy everyone with a design, but an exploratory like this lets us consider the options.”
Check out the video directly below and let us know what you think; was there a design in there that you preferred over the final one used in the film?

Imagine if you were playing the next-gen Grand Theft Auto and you were able to travel to Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas? Well that’s what Rockstar Games are looking to do. In an interview with Digital Trends, Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies stated that he would like to see an explorable world that connects all cities from the Grand Theft Auto games,
“Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, and in that context reimagining Vice City would be very interesting.”
As any GTA player would know, each Grand Theft Auto game takes place in a different era, with Grand Theft Auto III set in 2001, Vice City in the late 80’s, San Andreas in the early 90’s and Grand Theft Auto 4 in the modern era.
Though the crossover in storylines from Grand Theft Auto III to San Andreas ceased in Grand Theft Auto 4.
While Rockstar has recently re-release a 10 year anniversary edition of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on the mobile, Benzies went on to say that there’s always a possibility that they’ll come back to the iconic city again,
“It is always a possibility. There are a few references to the city in our current-gen GTAs so it is part of that HD universe, and it is certainly somewhere we would love to revisit. However Vice City, perhaps more than any other GTA game, was as much about the era as the setting. Miami in the 1980’s is so iconic it would feel strange to revisit the city in a different time period.”
The next big game in the series Grand Theft Auto V is to be released next year.
At the Toronto premiere of his upcoming Spaghetti Western inspired Django Unchained, Quentin Taratino answered a burning question.
Whilst walking the red carpet Quentin Tarantino was asked by We Got This Covered if we would ever see Kill Bill Vol. 3. His reply was, “I don’t know if there’s ever going to be a Kill Bill. Vol 3. We’ll see, probably not though.” Obviously not 100% definitive, but it’s pretty close. It’s very disappointing news for fans of the previous two films, but not surprising either. The status of the film has fluctuated throughout the years, with nothing solid ever being promised.
Tarantino also recently stated that he doesn’t want to overstay his welcome in the industry, telling The Hollywood Reporter that, “Directors don’t get better as they get older.” He then told Deadline, “You stop when you stop, but in a fanciful world, ten movies in my filmography would be nice. I’ve made seven. If I have a change of heart, if I come up with a new story, I could come back. But if I stopped at ten, that would be okay as an artistic statement.”
So it looks like Tarantino may not want to waste one of the final spots on that open discography with a sequel…What do you guys think? Would it be worth taking away from an original IP to do Kill Bill Vol. 3? We’ve seen how successful Inglorious Basterds and now Django Unchained have (already) been.
