Lord of the Rings Online: Riders of Rohan Update 11 Incoming

lotr-online-update-11-04

It seems that even though the next expansion for The Lord of the Rings Online is announced that doesn’t mean the developers at Turbine are focusing on that alone as a new update for Riders of Rohan is on its way. With such a big map to draw from it isn’t hard to find more areas to add in for players to explore, so with the new update players will be able to traverse and adventure in the Eastern Rohan region of Wildermore.

The update, titled “Treachery of the White Hand”, comes complete with five new areas within the region; Writhendowns, The Fallows, Whitshaws, High Knolls, and Balewood, players will seek to find and stop the forces causing the bleak cold weather to be all the more deadly. Rumored to be the work of Saruman, acting through the Stone Giant Núrzum, an all new questline will be available, with VIP players able to for free.

The update wont just be opening up new areas though, as several gameplay changes will also be implemented with Update 11. With mounted combat seeing a revamp via class traits aiding mounted combat and mobility bonuses moving from traits to the base steed instead. The Lord of the Rings Online will also be rewarding players more for logging in each each with Silver Hobbit presents fitting level and class. VIPs will also see some more rewards with custom character portrait frame, bonus experience being improved, and better Silver Hobbit presents than those non-VIPs.

Players can check out a little of what the new update will have in store by clicking on the images in the gallery below to see the full-sized screenshots of the new areas. The Lord of the Rings Online was developed by Turbine and published by Warner Bros Games.

Resident Evil: Revelations HD Trailers Take us Inside the Horror

resident-evil-revelations-screenshot-13

In the mood for a satisfying tease? As we mentioned in our Resident Evil: Revelations review back when it launched on the 3DS, this portable title delivered with atmosphere. With the experience now hitting consoles, Capcom have posted a small trailer to show just how atmospheric the upgraded port will be.

Sure, it’s just an enemy and a bit of darkness, but this encounter is made alone – which is why in the game it’s actually a unnerving experience. Also out today are two other “Case Files” videos, showing off more of the game to the unfamiliar. Resident Evil: Revelations HD drops May 21st, and you can check out all three clips below.

Anuman and Paul Cuisset bring Darkstone to Mobile Devices

darkstone-mobile-01

French game company Anuman and French game developer Paul Cuisset are teaming up to bring the classic fantasy role playing game Darkstone to mobile platforms.

The mobile remake of the game is set to be released fourteen years after it’s original 1999 debut. It will be published by Joystick Replay. This comes as a result of the partnership between Anuman and Vector Cell that was forged near the end of 2012.

With more than 100 levels and 4 playable character classes, players will get to enjoy rediscovering the original game with a new interface and game system that have been adapted to touch screens. It will also recognize the remixed original voices and sounds.

Said creator Paul Cuisset,

“Anuman Interactive and Artefacts Studio teams are doing a great job. This new version of ‘Darkstone’ is fun to play and I am delighted to see this title newly adapted on mobiles.”

Darkstone will be available on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices in June 2013. For more information, you can check out Anuman’s official website here (*Warning* – It’s in French)

Super Mario RPG and More Join Club Nintendo Rewards

may-cn-01

This Month’s Club Nintendo Rewards are now up due to the monthly refresh for May, and this time things are a bit of a mix between the legendary and obscure. 3D Classics Excitebike (150 Coins), Super Mario RPG (200 Coins), Aquia (100 Coins), and Maboshi’s Arcade (150 Coins) are all available for the taking on Club Nintendo, allowing you to trade in your coins for an old favorite or something that may be rather new to most.

This is a decent lot and it is obvious what the frontrunner is, but I am curious when we are going to see some other first party titles hit the service such as Pokemon Snap and Super Mario Bros. 3 – just two name two that have not seen the rewards treatment. Either way, these goods are up until June 2nd, so get them while they last.

Meet the Infected in The Last of Us

the-last-of-us-infected-01

The Last of Us is getting closer to a release, with the demo dropping on May 31st ahead of the June 14th release date. I know, you are all hungry to get your hands on it now, but this new trailer may catch your interest while you simmer. Creative Director Neil Druckmann and Game Director Bruce Straley have come together in this clip to show off the infected within the game, and how these antagonists with effect the player as they make their way through.

Also in the clip, we learn a bit more about how our two heroes evolve as characters. It’s all pretty interesting stuff, and you can check out the official trailer down below.

Neverwinter – Whispering Caverns Trailer and Screens

Neverwinter-Devils-of-Whispering-Caverns-Screenshot-08

Dungeon & Dragons Neverwinter fans should be getting their fill of the game as the beta just opened April 30th. Those bloodthirsty to finish the active running storyline should be excited to hear about the highest zone in Neverwinter thus far. The Whispering Caverns are home to the darkest denizens of Faerûn – literally. The drow flourish in the ever prevailing darkness in the Underdark alongside their estranged beneficiaries, the mindflayers (illithids). Known well for their octopus looking maws, these devilish creatures can infiltrate your mind and make you their personal puppet. The dwarf in me says to be headstrong and barrel right into these wishy-washy flesh eaters!

And yet a more evils like beholders await in the unknown territories of the Underdark. Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment even hint at the potential of finding a pathway to the famous primordial forge of the long-lost Gauntlgrym. Take a look at the collection of screenshots below and then feast upon the trailer. But don’t be going octopus on me!

Disney and EA Form Partnership for Star Wars Games

disney-ea-partnership-01

Last month, game production studio LucasArts was shut down by Disney and many feared what this would mean for future Star Wars games. Well if you are a fan of EA than you don’t need to worry any further. The Walt Disney Co. has announced it has formed a multi-year deal with EA to develop new games in the Star Wars franchise.

EA will develop games for a “core gaming audience” across all interactive platforms while Disney will retain the right to develop more casual titles for mobile devices, social platforms and online. Further terms of the contract such as financials were not disclosed as of yet, but more information is expected to be released in the coming days.

EA Labels President Frank Gibeau had this to say about the new partnership:

“Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe…Three of our top studios will fulfil that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. DICE and Visceral will produce new games, joining the BioWare team which continues to develop for the Star Wars franchise. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”

Both DICE (Battlefield, Mirror’s Edge series) and Visceral Games (Dead Space series) are currently working on new Star Wars games that will be running on the Frostbite 3 engine while another EA owned company, BioWare (Mass Effect Series),  will continue to support free to play game Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Disney purchased Lucasfilm for over 4 billion dollars back in December has stated that a new Star Wars movie will be releasing each year from 2015. EA recently won “Worst Company in America” for the second year in a row but has stated they are trying to fix the errors of their ways. How do you feel about this new partnership ? Let us know in the comments below.

As you can see in the post-card like image above, Krieg the Psycho Bandit will be available for download on May 14th.

Here is the kicker though, Krieg will not be part of the Season Pass program and will be sold individually as a $9.99 or 800 MSP download.
