HES Predicts Lions Tour Outcome

british-irish-lions-vs-barbarians-screenshot-5

In a recent display of curiosity coupled with a healthy, pro-active “because-we-can” attitude, HES (Home Entertainment Suppliers) and Alternative Software used the upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 title Rugby Challenge 2: The Lion’s Tour Edition to simulate and therefore predict the result of tomorrow’s actual Lion’s Tour match between the British & Irish Lions and the Barbarians.

The result was… Educational. The Lions crushed the Barbarians with a punitive 21-0. So if this simulation is anything to go by, expect the Lions to obliterate the opposition during tomorrow’s match. Rugby Challenge 2: The Lions Tour Edition features the official licensed British & Irish Lions 2013 Tour of Australia campaign, the first match of which was used to make the prediction.

Who will be the bad guy? Chan, Snipes, Cage or Jovovich?

Well, we all know that Stallone will be back as he’s co-writing the film and will be leading his team of Expendables once again, but who will be joining his team and who will be opposing them? So far the rumors are that the following four action celebrities could be 90% locked in: Jacky Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich – star of the Resident Evil Series. These four celebrities are currently negotiating contracts for the their roles in the film. What we’ve also heard is that from one of these four celebrities just mentioned, we’ll have our “Bad Guy” that will lead the charge against the Expendables… Who could that be? Our money is going on Nicolas Cage.

A whole lot of other celebrities have also been rumored to make their return or first time appearances such as Jean Claude Van Damme from The Expendables 2, Steven Segal, Hulk Hogan, Mickey Rouke, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But at the moment these are just rumors and there’s no cold hard concrete evidence just yet. We’ll all have to wait and see as time goes by and more information is released/leaked out to the public.

Mamorukun Curse! Shmup Heading to PSN

mamorukun-curse-announce-01

Japanese bullet-hell shoot-em-up Mamorukun Curse! is coming to the North American PlayStation Network for the PS3 on July 16, courtesy of UFO Interactive Games.

Developed by G.rev Ltd and Gulti, this top-down, vertical scrolling shooter follows Mamorukun and several other Chosen Souls who have been plucked from the realm of the Living and tosses into the Netherworld. They must then restore balance to the Netherworld and stop the World of Darkness from taking over.

There’s a choice of seven different characters, each with different gameplay mechanics. Here’s a list of the stack of features:

  • 3 exciting game play modes: Netherworld Action Mode, Arcade Mode, and Story Mode
  • Online Leaderboards: Use Curse Powers to rack up huge bonuses and challenge your friends to the top-ranking spot of the online leaderboards
  • Includes all previously released DLC from the original Japanese version
  • 66 challenging PS3 Trophies to unlock

Like all crazy “danmaku” shooters, the real appeal is dodging ridiculous patterns of bullets, often with ultra cute characters and addictive music. A fine art the Japanese have mastered in games such as Deathsmiles, Akai Katana and the cult Touhou series.

Mamorukun Curse! will be priced at US$19.99. Check out the screens and announcement trailer below, and follow the publisher’s Facebook and Twitter pages for more info.
