Blackwell Epiphany to be Final Game in Blackwell Series

0

Those that have seen our reviews of the past Blackwell adventure games, hopefully know just how good the games are. Which is why it is sad to see that the fifth game in the series, The Blackwell Epiphany, will in fact conclude the series. Developed and published by Wadjet Eye Games, the Blackwell series features what has become known as the Blackwell Legacy a ghost that “haunts” the family, which leads the women to helping other ghosts find their eternal piece.

Creator Dave Gilbert has said, “I always knew how Rosa and Joey’s story would end,” which hopefully means that fans of the adventure series shouldn’t worry and be able to enjoy how the series departs. But, just what can players expect from The Blackwell Epiphany? A mystery to save ghosts from being ripped apart, literally.

Those excited to see how Rosa and Joey will finish off their series can expect The Blackwell Epiphany to release this April for PC. Anyone that hasn’t experienced the previous titles can check out our review of the first three games in The Blackwell Trilogy and the fourth game, The Blackwell Deception.

Live-Action Akira Film – Concept Art Finally Released

Live-Action-Akira-Film-Concept-Art-01

It has been an extremely long time coming but finally the Anime world has been blessed with a little more news regarding the, constantly delayed, Akira live-action movie. This news comes in the form of two fantastically illustrated pieces of concept art by the extremely talented artist James Clyne who has made his mark in Hollywood as one of the very best concept artists around. Mr. Clyne has worked on some of the biggest movies of our generation, most notably is the James Cameron blockbuster of 2009; “Avatar”. The man was hired as a concept artist for the live-action Akira movie long ago back when Ruairi Robinson was said to be the director.

As you may all know, this project has seen its fair share of interested directors but we may be lucky with its latest one, a man named Jaume Collet-Serra who mentioned in a recent interview that he hopes the next movie he begins working on is Akira.  The image seen at the start of this article is actually one that was released a while ago though I assume many people either missed it or forgot about it much like myself during its time…let’s say “underground”. As you can see Kaneda keeps his name in the possible live-action film whereas Tetsuo’s has been changed to Travis for Western audiences.

The images I urge you to focus on are the two below this paragraph, they were just released by James Clyne and they look absolutely brilliant. Unfortunetely they’re not new illustrations though, they were done back when the movie was first in the works but, up until just now, they had never been released so maybe that’s a good sign. Our prayers go out the movie Gods; “Please, almighty ones, bring us a live-action Akira movie! A good one!”

MouseCraft Sneaking its Way to a PS Vita Release

The developer Crunching Koalas made somewhat of a hit with their game MouseCraft, so much that even though it is only available through Early Access, the game will be making its way far past its PC roots. It was just announced today that developer Curve Studios is working on bringing the game to PS Vita.

Luckily for those that haven’t played MouseCraft yet, the game will be largely the same from its PC version to PS Vita, but those wanted to get it for PS Vita will now have that option and without too much of a delay as it will be releasing alongside the final release of the PC version in May as well.

In addition to the PS Vita version of the game, console gamers will also be able to check out the puzzle style gameplay of MouseCraft when it makes its way to PlayStation 4 this Summer.

News regarding Game Freak and Nintendo’s newest Pokemon title (X and Y) has slowed down over the past couple of months. Apart from the Pokemon Bank issues that have only recently been sorted out, we really haven’t heard too much from our favourite franchise, well that has all changed now thanks to the release of a brand-new legendary.

Diancie, Pokemon number 719, is a Rock/Fairy type that is quite small yet very sturdy. Its body is made up of hard rocks and pink crystals, the fact that it has been titled a “legendary” Pokemon means that this is one little stone pixie NOT to be messed with.

Though not a great deal of information as been released on this cutie it has already been confirmed that it will star in the next Pokemon movie titles; “Cocoon of Destruction and Diance”, which has recently been renamed alongside the reveal of the Pokemon.

As of right now Nintendo nor Game Freak have released any information as to when there will be a distribution for the legendary but we can all assume we wont be waiting too long to get our virtual Pokemon trainer hands on this stone cold fairy. Keep your eyes on the site for any news or information as it breaks and don’t forget to head down to our comments section to let us know what you think of Diancie.

Namco Bandai Games alongside the team over at Shonen Jump have just revealed that a whole bunch of new characters will be joining the “J-Stars Victory Vs.” roster and even though I was only able to list three up there in the title, it seems as though at least five different series’ characters have been added. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (Bobobo-bo), Arale (Dr. Slump), Shoya Hinata (Haikyu), Kusuo Saiki (Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan) and Luckyman (Tottemo! Luckyman) have all been confirmed as the new “J-Stars Victory Vs.” characters.

All of them apart from Haikyu’s Shoya Hinata will be fully playable characters, Hinata will be a support character. Much like every other character release for this game, not a lot has actually been said about their movesets but fans of the series’ will pretty much be able to tell what they will do in the heat of battle. Stick around on the site for all the new information that gets released and don’t forget to head down to our comments section to let us know what you think.

You missed and just killed a stranger :O ‘World of Gibbets’ invites you to a gruesome place where people are just moments away from… uhm… becoming angels. They hang on gibbets! Take your bow and arrows, shoot the rope and become a hero! Unfortunately, the game designers are evil! They added many traps and vicious tricks to each level so the chances are high that you’ll end up in a bloody mess. But really, we don’t want that to happen. Better train hard!

World of Gibbets is set to hit the App Store February 13th for a grand total 0f $0.99. For a glimpse of the game, check out the screenshots below and the trailer even further below that. Just try not to cause more harm than good…

Operating profits saw a slight decrease due to aggressive investment costs, but overall profits were stable due to record sales.

The 2013 fiscal year was highly noted for record overseas sales which grew 68%, now accounting for 57% of overall sales, up from 39% in 2012. Uniform growth was maintained across all regions, with Asia, Europe, and Latin America more than doubling in sales. Korean sales also recovered this quarter thanks to the domestic launch of flagship ‘ZENONIA Online’. Wadjet Eye Games’ Blackwell Adventure Series to Conclude in April with The Blackwell Epiphany

Wadjet Eye Games’ Blackwell Adventure Series to Conclude in April with The Blackwell Epiphany

Spirit medium Rosa Blackwell and her guide Joey Mallone have rescued countless souls in these point-and-click mysteries — now can they save themselves?

NEW YORK – February 12, 2014 – When Rosangela Blackwell’s only living relative died, she inherited a troubling family legacy: the ability to see and communicate with recently deceased spirits. With this clairvoyance came the often painful responsibility of helping New York City’s lost souls accept their mortality and find peace. The friendship Rosa forged with her spirit guide, jazz-era spook Joey Mallone, may have helped ease the burden, but the weight of her gift has only grown over the years.

When The Blackwell Epiphany releases for PC this April, Rosa and Joey will face their toughest trial as the souls they’re trying to help are literally ripped apart before their eyes. Up against a force more powerful than any they’ve yet encountered, spirit and medium must fight for Joey’s soul and Rosa’s sanity in this provocative conclusion to the Blackwell indie adventure series. View the first trailer and screenshots at the official website: http://www.rosablackwell.com

The Blackwell games are old school point-and-click adventures from indie developer Dave Gilbert, who grew up playing Sierra’s Gabriel Knight games and reading New York crime writer Lawrence Block. Four installments have released for PC since 2006: The Blackwell Legacy, Blackwell Unbound, Blackwell Convergence, and Blackwell Deception. Though each game has its own self-contained story and investigative gameplay, the series has also followed Rosa’s transition from skeptical newbie to seasoned medium. The Blackwell Epiphany is likewise designed to stand on its own while providing bittersweet closure for players who have been with Rosa and Joey from the beginning.

“I always knew how Rosa and Joey’s story would end, but figuring out how to get there was a challenge. Every lesson I learned over the last eight years has been put to good use,” says series creator Dave Gilbert. “This is the last Blackwell game and we’ve given it our all — it’s longer, more detailed, darker, and more atmospheric than any of the games that came before it. I can’t think of a more worthy note to end on.”

Players who want to catch up on the series before The Blackwell Epiphany‘s April release can purchase the first four Blackwell games for PC in a bundle from Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/sub/13237) or GOG (http://www.gog.com/game/blackwell_bundle), or individually from the developer’s website (http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/games). The entire series is also coming soon to iPhone and iPad, starting with The Blackwell Legacy this spring.
