DEVOLVER DIGITAL ANNOUNCES OPEN WORLD PRISON RIOT ‘SCUM’ BY GAMEPIRES AND CROTEAM COMING IN 2017
– Serve A Life Sentence for Fifteen Minutes of Fame –
ZAGREB – Developer Gamepires (Gas Guzzlers Extreme) in cooperation with Croteam (Serious Sam series, The Talos Principle) and publisher Devolver Digital have announced SCUM, an intriguing and complex open world survival game, coming to PC via Early Access in 2017.
“SCUM is a big leap forward in survival games,” said Tomislav Pongrac, Gamepires project lead. “We’ve implemented new, intricate systems behind common elements of the genre to produce exhilarating new gameplay scenarios.”
The world’s unquenchable need for entertainment has turned towards bloodlust as entertainment behemoth TEC1 is set to premiere season two of its television sensation SCUM. This new season moves the contest from the rugged, enclosed Alcatraz sector to the full grandure of Bagne de Cayenne, an island with a sordid history of violent incarceration. Both fan favorites and new prisoners will clash in a ruthless war of survival while battling for the support of viewers, producers, and corporate sponsors for fame, gifts, and a chance of life after death.
SCUM evolves the multiplayer open world survival game with unprecedented levels of character customization, control, and progression where knowledge and skills are the ultimate weapons for long-term survival. Players will balance base level needs with knowledge-based skills to manage everything from nourishment, metabolic rate, and body mass to weapons proficiency, combat style, and security systems hacking. Dominate the island with your skills, cunning, and strategies to achieve higher levels of game and receive powerful gifts from corporate sponsors and, if you happen to slip up and die, get resurrected by the show’s producers with all your valuable skills still intact.
“The systems at play in SCUM are astounding and we believe it will raise the bar of what is expected in a modern survival game moving forward,” noted Croteam CEO and SCUM producer Roman Ribaric. “Characters, environments, and even the players knowledge base are all dynamic and the changes in them can greatly effect the hierarchy of the island.”
SCUM is built with Unreal Engine 4 and set to launch on PC via Early Access in 2017. Fans can follow details on development with weekly dev blogs on scumgame.com and on Twitter @SCUMgame
Things are heating up as gamescom 2016 is fast approaching. Focus Home Interactive and Deck13 released fifteen minutes of gameplay footage that introduces viewers to The Surge’scombat and crafting systems. Walkthrough narration is provided by Adam Hetenyi, Head of Game Design at Deck13.
The Surge’s combat is focused on tactical melee combat. Since players have only a finite amount of stamina, those who pick and choose the right time to attack and dodge will do much better than those who prefer to button mash. The melee system also features directional attacks that allows players to focus on unarmoured areas for bonus damage or lop off a piece of equipment for looting later on. There are a variety of weapons in the game, each with its own distinct fighting style.
Crafting is built around blueprints retrieved in combat. Many pieces of equipment provide special effects like lighting or protection from environmental hazards. The exo-suit is fuelled by Techscrap, providing the player health and a pool of power. Players are also augmented with implants that give both passive and active buffs.
The Surge launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2017.
Logitech announced the Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse today. Inspired by the simple designs of the Logitech G100 and G303 gaming mice, the Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse is an ambidextrous mouse armed with the PMW3366 optical sensor capable of 200-12,000 DPI. The right and left mouse buttons are rated for 20 million clicks and have been specially tuned to have a low actuation force but still have a crisp click. The body of the mouse is coated with a special material to improve grip on the mouse.
As tournament PCs often do not allow users to install their own software, the Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse featured on board memory to store DPI settings, button assignments, and lighting settings. At home, the mouse works with Logitech’s spectacular Logitech Gaming Software.
“The benefit of working with eSports players is that they tell us what they like, and more importantly, what they don’t like,” said Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of gaming at Logitech. “Our new Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse takes what eSports pros loved about the G100s and G303 and combines it into a mouse that we’re confident will meet their standards.”
The Logitech G Pro Graming Mouse will be available sometime this month in the US and Europe. The MSRP will be a low to mid-ranged price of $69.99 or €69.95.
