Oh look, it’s THIS game again…

Ladies and Gentlemen, Capsule Computers would like to share a special article written especially for us by freelance editor, Scott Bullock.  Scott will be throwing his opinions around on the latest video games from time to time and this is one he has shared with us today.

Ok, so as most of you probably know, EA has announced that they plan to release a new and updated Medal of Honor game. Oh, and it is now apparently going to be set, not in WWII, as any good Medal of Honor should be, but in modern times. So, let me get this straight; you are updating a classic WWII game and setting it’s WARFARE in MODERN times? Where have I heard that before…

Oh yeah.

“But,” I thought, “this can’t be right. No one could really expect us to buy the exact same game we already played. No one could be so despicable that they would totally rip off another developer’s game, right?” Then I remembered that this is EA we’re talking about.

I can believe it.

But in all honesty, why do they have to set these games in the present? I’ve played enough games where all I do is shoot swarthy people in turbans. Where did the days of cappin’ NAZIS (say it like Brad Pitt from Inglourious Basterds) with an M1 go? Why can’t I fight Hitler anymore? Sure, World at War gave me a little Nazi fighting fun, but mostly you fight the Japanese.

And if you are going to make another WWII shooter, why not try something new? Say, break out of the standard linear level progression, and try something a little more open world? That could be… interesting. Imagine if Rockstar Games made a WWII game. You’d probably just end up jacking Panzers and running over French hookers.

Now THAT’s a game.

It’s Official Capcom announce delay of major titles

1

CapcomLogo

As you are all aware, from the previous article posted a few days before Christmas regarding Capcom’s delayed games, It’s now official.  Capcom have released a press release that states the following titles will be delayed :

The delayed games are as follows:

  • Dead Rising 2
  • Lost Planet 2
  • Monster Hunter Tri
  • Super Street Fighter IV

In a way we kinda all knew this was going to happen, .. well it blindsided me thats for sure .. and a lot of others as well. But Word is that Capcom delayed a lot of their games to 2010, stating that they’ve “made the strategic decision to postpone the launch of titles that were scheduled for the 4th quarter of the current fiscal year.”

Another note : Capcom stresses that “rapid changes in the market conditions caused primarily by the 4th quarter introduction by competitors of a large number of new games.”

The only major title and NEW IP : Dark Void is still scheduled to make its appearance in approx 27 days from now and the promotion and hype and push from Capcom has been HUGE !!

Modern Warfare 2 Patch Now Live on PS3 and 360

0

Modern-Warfare-2-Logo-01

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 patch finally hit Xbox Live last night. Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling tweeted that the patch will be available for the Xbox 360, reason for delay was that Microsoft also had to QA the patch on their end, just to make sure everything could run through smoothly to the end users.

As you might already be aware this fix/patch is meant to fix the infinite ammo and private match glitches. It also rebalances the Model 1887 shotgun. This is the second patch in less than a month made specifically to address cheating, glitches, and unbalanced gameplay — all of which are a recipe for a less-than-enjoyable multiplayer experience.

Let us know what you think of the update and how it’s affected your gameplay experience online.   Leave a comment below.
