More Star Wars Avatar Clothes coming May 20th

If you are a star wars fan and love spending virtual cash on outfits for your avatar you are going to love this news. May 20th, which is also the eve of The Empire Strikes Back’s 30th anniversary, is the date that more Star Wars gear will be coming to the Xbox Live Avatar Marketplace in celebration of the event.

There will be a whole bunch of new Avatar clothes and props to purchase including all the characters you love from the movie, as well as a mini tauntaun pet and more lightsabres of course. You can check out the whole announcement and list of upcoming costumes  over at Star Wars.com.

Below are more pictures of the upcoming goodies. I for one want a tauntaun pet which is pictured above, it looks so adorable! Though my chocobo is still my buddy and I would be hard pressed to replace my chocobo.

Darkspawn Chronicles released today for the Xbox 360 and PC

If you look at the Xbox 360 marketplace you will be pleasantly surprised to see that the Darkspawn Chronicles add on for Dragon Age: Origins has been released and will cost you 400 MSP, basically $5. It will also be available on your PC for the same price. However what we have yet to see is a release date for the PS3 version of the game, but now with the most recent patching of the game, Darkspawn Chronicles will also be available for the PS3 shortly and looks to cost the same price.

In this version of the game, what if the heroes had failed? What if the land of Ferelden was going to be swept away by the blight? What if you were the cause of their failure? You shall see. For in Darkspawn Chronicles you take the place of the Darkspawn themselves, and must do battle with the various races hoping to prevent the world from falling under your control. You must defeat them and appease the Archdemon.

Square Enix contemplating Final Fantasy Versus XIII on Xbox 360?

Remember the outcry by PS3 fans when they heard that Final Fantasy XIII was no longer a PS3 exclusive and would also be released for the Xbox 360? There was a pretty bad reaction from most of them but joy for a large amount of other people who would otherwise be unable to play the game if it had stayed exclusive. And by the sales figures from the past year for the game; they definitely made the correct choice.

However, Final Fantasy Versus XIII has remained a solid player in the PS3 corner since the announcement that it was being developed. At least that is, until a bit of doubt has been spread around now. In Q & A session with CEO Yoichi Wada Impress Watch reports that when asked if Versus would be willing to be released on the Xbox 360 as well, he said “We’ll be looking into it internally until right before the formal announcement.” Now this is no actual confirmation, simply a side mention that there might be a minuscule possibility of seeing this game on the Xbox 360 as well.

Personally I don’t see how they would pass that up. There is no real reason for going console exclusive unless paid by the console to remain exclusive no matter what. I do not believe that Sony has made any such deal with Square-Enix about this, and it would be foolish to focus only on one system, when there is a larger market audience out there.

5.5 million people can’t be wrong about FFXIII

Looks like 5.5 million people worldwide have purchased Square-Enix’s latest Final Fantasy game, FFXIII. This number is from March 31st mind you so this number could be even higher now a month and a half later. This is a great success for an amazing game which you can check out our own review Here.

Other big sellers from Square-Enix this past fiscal year was Dragon Quest IX with 4.26 million purchases, and this was in Japan only mind you. Would have been interesting to see the number when the game reaches the rest of the world this Summer. They also have reached 3.24 million game purchases of Batman: Arkham Asylum in Japan, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days reached 1.49 million copies sold and Dragon Quest VI sold a respectable 1.29 million as well.

Overall this was a very successful year for Square-Enix and we hope to see more great games from them as the year goes on. Can’t have one of the biggest companies in game development and publishing falling by the wayside.

Insider: PlayStation Network Premium Service to be Announced at E3

According to a secret squirrel that resides in the holy land that is Sony, the PlayStation Network premium service will be announced at this year’s E3 on June 15th.

This premium service, which will supposedly cost less than £50 a year, will provide subscribers benefits and other goodies, one of which will allow you to choose a free PSN title once a month from an allotted pool of two to four games.

The premium service will also feature a streaming music service of sorts, similar to Spotify, which would theoretically allow music to stream while playing games.

Online play will continue to be free.

Also worth mentioning is that cross-game voice will NOT be a part of the premium service.

We’ll find out next month.

I’ll be there, will you? If not physically, I’m counting on all of you to be there in spirit! 😉

NEW Dead To Rights: Retribution “GAC PACK” DLC assets available for download

NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. today released new screenshots from the “GAC Pack” downloadable content for Dead to Rights: Retribution, a ground-up reinvention of the multi-million unit selling crime action series developed by Volatile Games. The “GAC Pack” will include two new completely different modes of gameplay as well as exciting bonus options to enrich the player’s experience with the core retail game.

“Assault on the 87th Precinct” is a new mission that reveals a flip side to the story, allowing players to experience the action from the GAC (Grant City Anti-Crime) enemy’s side of the battle. Players step into the boots of the GAC Sniper, Brawler and Tank characters as they converge upon the GCPD (Grant City Police Department) stronghold under orders to contain all police officers so they can secure a tactical advantage.

In “Riot Control Mode,” Jack and Shadow fend off increasingly difficult waves of GAC forces to earn points and achievements based on speed and style, with high score bragging rights on international leaderboards. In addition, the previously exclusive “Jack Pack” and “Shadow Pack” are also included in the “GAC Pack” allowing players to access armor for Jack, stealth camouflage for Shadow, an “action mode” with explosive rounds gunplay, and a “noir mode” with a black, white and red graphic filter.

Developed by Volatile Games, Dead to Rights: Retribution is rated “M” for mature audiences by the ESRB and carries an MSRP of $59.99. The “GAC Pack” DLC add-on content will be released on June 1 for Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 for 400 Microsoft Points and on PlayStation Network for $4.99. Players must have the retail game in order to access the “GAC Pack” content.

PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service to launch in Australia

Great news Sony Playstation 3 & PSP owners will be able to now enjoy hundreds of movies available to rent or own with the press of a button

Sony Computer Entertainment Australia further expanded its PlayStation entertainment offering today with the announcement of the imminent launch of the PlayStation Network video delivery service for Australia on Thursday 20th May 2010. The service, available to PlayStation 3 (PS3) users from 1AM on Thursday 20th May, allows film fans to download hundreds of movies, including the latest releases, straight to their PlayStation 3 and PSP.

Hundreds of movies will be available to rent in High Definition (HD) or Standard Definition (SD) (from AU$3.99) or purchase (from AU$7.99) in SD. The films come from major movie studios and distributors including 20th Century Fox, ContentFilm, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Walt Disney Studios, Universal, Roadshow Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.

Titles available at launch include Avatar, Capote, Dreamland, Inglourious Basterds, Up In The Air, Ninja Assassin, Sherlock Holmes, Surrogates and Twilight New Moon. Additional content will be added on a weekly basis.

“The launch of the PlayStation Network video delivery service in Australia this week extends the PlayStation entertainment offering and provides our consumers with another way to access and enjoy their favourite movies, whether at home or on the go,” said Michael Ephraim, Managing Director, SCE Aust.

This looks and sounds great the price to hire movies is relatively cheap and for only $7.99 to actually own them is also worth it. Remember they are in SD but still its a great price. Lights camera ACTION !!! now where’s my popcorn ??
