Neo Steam celebrating their 1 year anniversary with contest

Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent has been around for a whole year now. Quite a feat for many free to play online games which usually are not able to get off their feet. Brought to you by ATLUS Online, it has become one of the best community driven MMORPGs on the market to date by providing a continuous stream of new updates and events held by the Game Masters.

ATLUS is celebrating their one year anniversary on June 11th by holding many different events this month including a huge contest for an iPad itself. The way to enter yourself into this contest to win Apple’s latest product is simply to log on. Every day for the month of June when you log on, you are entered into the contest for the iPad. Meaning if you were to make an account today, and play each day through the end of the contest you could potentially have 29 entries in itself.

Even if the iPad isn’t your cup of tea, the amount of events going on within the game is a huge draw for the player base. I’ve played various MMO’s in my time and after awhile the GM’s begin to let events and updates wane and unfortunately it creates a stagnant player base with little to do. However with ATLUS’ Neo Steam there is a constant stream of updates/events this month and they promise to continue as time goes on after their one year birthday.

To Download and Play ATLUS’ Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent click here. The game is free to play, with additional costumes and mounts available at a small cost.

A little bit about Neo Steam from ATLUS themselves:

Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent is the only MMORPG of its kind, set in an imaginative steampunk world, where 19th century steam-based technology meets fantasy inventions. The game transports players to a land where two nations battle over a precious resource called Neo Steam. From the onset, customization is key to each player’s experience, where they can choose which nation to join and select from a number of specialized classes. As players battle to expand their nation’s resources and protect their borders from invasion, they must learn to harness the Neo Steam technology to upgrade their equipment, learn new abilities, and progress in their chosen class.

Portal 2 E3 Event Mysteriously Cancelled

Portal 2 - logo

Portal 2 was scheduled to receive a pre-E3 event, but it seems like they just changed their minds, or they are just messing with ours. This official email is being sent by none other than Aperture Science:

Dear Subject Name Here,

Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word “surprise”, of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise.

If you’d like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve’s Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi.

Thank you for [[RECORD SCRATCH!!!]]

PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise.

Of course everything is completely suspicious at the moment, that’s what Valve loves to do, and we love too. We will need to wait for E3 to see this mistery revealed.

Paid apps now rolling out on Nokia Ovi store for N900

Nokia N900 users rejoice! Since the Nokia N900 was launched end of last year, Ovi Store for the N900 users has been quite bland with just some basic free apps and not much else. This was due to a problem in the payment system and DRM issues with the N900 which caused some issues earlier this year where users could potentially download apps through the backdoor without paying for the apps.

It has taken quite a few months to finally have paid apps back on the N900’s Ovi store and this is great news for the N900 users worldwide as it means more commercial applications will be available. Nokia is starting to roll out apps slowly and the database is still syncing across the globe so it will take a few more days before we see some more apps.

Some of the new paid apps which has appeared today are:
– Angry Birds Level Pack 1
– Morpho Quick Panarama Pro
– Diabetes Meal Planner

In the mean time, feast your eyes on this video which shows off the gaming power of the N900 and some of the games and apps that will soon become available on the Ovi store.

Earthworm Jim Trailer shows some co-op levels

The old classic Earthworm Jim is definitely seeing a remodeling when it comes to this trailer.  We see how the game’s polished appearance is after being upgraded to HD.  Not only that but we are treated to seeing the co-op levels for the first time.  With the option to play with up to three other friends it’ll definitely make for some groovy times.

Also we see a couple of new levels and even a boss which has made internet fame, the keyboard cat.  Lets just hope that no one has any fish nearby when there is a co-op match going on; it’d be hard to resist all of those worms. There has been no estimated release date yet for Earthworm Jim, but one can guess it will be sometime this year.

First 3D games see the light with a set date

June 10th. Mark that day down on your calendar because that is the day that gaming will take the full step into 3D. Sony’s PS3 will be experiencing an update with three of their games. Bear in mind this is an announcement for the Japanese games but it is extremely likely that the same exact update will be occurring around the world.

Wipeout HD, Star Strike HD and Mr. Pain will all be receiving the third dimensional make over. Wipeout HD and Star Strike HD will be getting the update at no charge, while Mr. Pain will have to pay a bit for his makeover, costing roughly $3-$4 for the update.

So now we shall see exactly how well the gaming community will welcome 3D in their video games. Will people enjoy them? Or will they see this as another gimmick which will quickly lose momentum after not being adopted by many companies. We are already seeing a full video game in the form of Killzone 3 embracing the 3D option, will others? Time will tell.

Crackdown 2 – Webcomic Episode 2

In Episode 1 left many people were left curious about Thorne and her motives. This latest episode explains her in more depth and answers most of your questions (well at least my questions)

This episode shows Thornes’ story and how she unleashed the mutant virus upon the city. (Why does this sound oddly familiar?)

Of course, it ends right when more questions need to be answered. Hopefully the next episode comes out next week if this stay a weekly release.

Crackdown 2 is set to release in July.
