New PES 2011 Screens Revealed

A small collection of images for the next instalment in the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise have hit the internet. This follows on from the unsuprising revelation in May that PES 2011 was being worked on and coming out later this year.

Seemingly from some screens, Lionel Messi looks to be the mascot of the series for the second year running. Last year he featured on the PES 2010 front cover, as well as fronting some advertising campaigns for the game, and it looks like he is set to do the same this year which is understandable considering his current title of ‘FIFA World Player of the Year’.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 is due out for PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360 this autumn.

“Avatar Days” short examines WoW

“Avatar Days” is a new short by digital artist Cormac Kelly and not only does it give an extremely interesting perspective at the relationship between a Wow Player and their game character, but it also has WoW characters walking around in the real world.

It is a very interesting watch, both for the narration and the video itself. Take a look.

Deals for this week (May 31, 2010)

This weeks Xbox LIVE Gold Member deal of the week is three deals we’re calling MOVIE MANIA.  The following movie related games and content are 50% off this week only: Prince of Persia Classic is 400 points, Transformers 2 Character and Map Pack Plus is 400 points and Watchmen: The End is Nigh for 800 points. [Via Major Nelson]

Thoughts:
The Prince of Persia classic game is pretty good, but it is very old. The fact that its normal price is still at 800MSP is amazing. Try out the demo, some people quite enjoy the game.

The transformers DLC is probably going to be the least purchased item in this group of deals. It is DLC for a movie based game that I doubt anyone still has. If you still have it you probably already have the DLC.

The Watchmen game is a movie based beat ’em up. It is actually kinda fun for the first 15 minutes or so. IF you are a fan of beat ’em ups you should take a look at this one. If you aren’t (like me) I’d suggest to check out Prince of Persia.

Peanuts and the Red Baron this Wednesday

This Wednesday you have the chance to have some Peanuts. I’m not talking about the food of course. Because this Wednesday Snoopy Flying Ace will be landing in the XBLA for only 800 MSP ($10). In this game you will be flying with the best black and white dog around; Snoopy. But not only that you will have the ability to choose from many of the characters of the famous Peanut roster including your own Avatar but lets be honest everyone is going to be wanting to play as Snoopy.

The game itself looks to be quite an intriguing aerial shooter as you do battle against the Red Baron.  Exactly what other type of other enemy fighters is unknown but I can’t wait for this one as I grew up with the Peanuts comic strips and holiday movies.

Anime Lineup for Summer 2010

The line-up for next seasons Anime has been released much to the joy of many people but depression of others. Of course some people may have been thinking that their favorite Anime has finally made a come back for the Summer to only be met with disappointment. However some top named Anime are arriving onto the scene for the first time such as High School of the Dead and Shi Ki. Then we have the sequels for both Sekirei and Strike Witches are also airing. Strike Witches is a bit surprising as it only finished airing last Summer and most Anime usually have a turn around of at least a year and a half before a sequel. Barring Queen’s Blade and Shin Koihime Musou of course.

Stay tuned through the next week as I introduce the various shows below and let you know if I’ll be following them or not. These shows are starting sometime in June and July though the exact date is not yet known for any of the shows.

Alien Breed 2: Assault Official

Sure Alien Breed was always planned as a trilogy. Sure everyone new the second one was soon to come. Sure it isn’t much of a news post, but I felt you guys should know all about the stuff you probably already know.

The ESRB has posted a listing for Alien Breed 2: Assault, which pretty much makes it official. So if you had any worries that the next installment of the game would fall through the cracks, let your worries be dismissed. Now it just becomes a waiting game.

Xenoblade – 6 minutes trailer for this Wii-exclusive RPG

Xenoblade looks like it’s going to be a huge Wii title to look forward to.

The game is an rpg, and it’s world takes place on the top of two giant gods, Kyoshin and Kishin, that stopped moving during a ancient battle.

Present day, some machines have started attacking different villages and our heroes needs to stop them with the help of Monado, a mysterious weapon which can be controlled only by specific users.

Xenoblade is being developed by Monolith Soft, who is really famous for the genre, working previosly on respectable series like Baten Kaitos and Xenosaga. The director behind Xenoblade is Tetsuya Takahashi (Xenogears, Xenosaga), and the composers are Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve) and Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger/Cross, Xenogears). Mitsuda will be doing the theme song for Xenoblade, while Shimomura will be the main composer together with Monolith’s crew. There’s a really respectable team behind this project.

Xenoblade is expected for June 10 in Japan, while those looking for an english version will probably need to wait until E3 2010, in July.

Below you can check a long, and pretty detailed, 6 minutes trailer. This trailer shows some cutscenes, battles, exploration, customization, and a lot more!

StarCraft II Beta Extended

Blizzard confirmed on their official forums that Stacraft II beta will be extended until June 07. The beta was previously programmed to close on May 31st.

After June 07, the beta will go offline in preparation of the servers for the full game, which launchs July 27th.

But there will be a new beta for a couple of weeks prior to the game’s launch, so everyone who’s participating in the beta will be able to play a little more before the game’s release.
