Joss Stone: Award Winning Singer…Now a Bond Girl?

If there is one thing that goes with the James Bond video game series, it’s music. With big names of the past such as Mya and Natasha Bedingfield,  Activision’s newest title “James Bond 007: Blood Stone” now will feature artist Joss Stone taking on the role of the newest Bond Girl. As well as being cast in this fast-paced new title, Joss Stone will also provide an original musical track to the game, titled “I’ll Take it All” written and performed by her and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics exclusively in James Bond 007: Blood Stone.

James Bond 007: Blood Stone also features the likeness and voice talent of Daniel Craig, Joss Stone, and Jundy Dench. Players will travel through exotic locations to unravel an international conspiracy, using the trademark high-tech gadgetry the 007 series is known for.

“James Bond 007: Blood Stone captures the cinematic intensity of a Bond film by immersing players in an intriguing conspiracy that will require them to think and act like James Bond,” said David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing. “In addition, the game will feature a diverse array of multi-player modes and debut strategic objective-based gameplay that will allow Xbox 360, PS3 and PC players to battle as teams of spies and mercenaries through authentic Bond locales.”

A brand new original story written by famed screenwriter Bruce Feirstein will put gamers in full control of cover-based firefights, hand to hand combat and adrenaline-fuelled driving sequences as they embark on a global chase leading to action on land and sea through Athens, Istanbul, Monaco and Bangkok. Gamers can also feel what it is like to be a 00 agent, as they take the battle online in several robust 16-person multi-player modes that require skill, teamwork and strategy as players compete in matches that will have spies battling mercenaries.

Developer Bizarre Creations are bringing out James 007: Blood Stone this holiday season for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Windows PC. Additionally, a Nintendo DS version will release developed by EON Productions Ltd. Eager gamers can go to www.007.com for more information about this hot new title.

New Oddworld game announced…Just Add Water

1

Ah…Oddworld. Remeber the good old days when you controlled the cute lil’ Mudokon, Abe, and murdered him in every possible way, just for the sake of it? I still rember his voice: “Hello”, “Follow me”, “Wait” etc…got a little nostalgic there.

But it seems like the fellas at Just Add Water want to return to the Oddworld setting, because they’ve just announced that, for the past 12 months, they’ve been hard at work with the guys from Oddworld Inhabitants on various projects. All of them set in the Oddworld universe! Here’s the official announcement directly from their website:

“It’s with a huge amount of pride that we can announce that for the past 12 months we have been working extremely closely with the fantastic people at Oddworld Inhabitants, from what started off as brief discussions in June 2009, to now working on multiple projects, across multiple platforms.

Whilst we cannot go into specifics right now, we can tell you that over the coming weeks and months we will be announcing these exciting projects starring all of your favourite Oddworld characters.

“To work with the team at Oddworld has been amazing; being able to tap the minds of Lorne Lanning, Sherry McKenna and others has been fantastic,” said Just Add Water’s Managing Director Stewart Gilray.

“It’s almost symbiotic in that when something moves forward on any of the projects we just start chatting about new items, or what if we do this,” Gilray continued. “We’re all extremely excited to breathe life into the Oddworld universe and indeed to let it breathe life into us.”

Why not follow that loveable Mudokon, Abe on Twitter at twitter.com/abemudokon.”

That’s it for now, more details to come soon. So who’s excited now ?

Heavy Fire: Special Operations Brings a Bang to the Wii..

On-rail shooters have quite a history in gaming dating back to the old arcades. Even as of late in the age of home consoles, Sin & Punishment 2 and the two Resident Evil Chronicle titles were both solid additions to the Nintendo Wii’s library of games. Tenyon is ready to throw their own title into the Mix with Heavy Fire: Special operations for the Wii.

In this arcade shooter, you play through challenging missions through as a member of an elite army unit taking place in the frantic Middle East. Players will engage on ground, Humvee or Blackhawk. Heavy Fire also brings destructible environments into the mix with additional points given for the more you destroy.

The better you play the game, the more your military rank will advance leading to starting the game as a private with a well played game can lead to a promotion all the way up to Sergeant Major. Each rank is linked to one of seven in game guns, so the higher your score, the better rank you receive leading to a better gun making a much more rewarding experience. Players can also replay over and over to try to better their score to hit the top of the world’s rankings.

Heavy Fire: Special Operations comes to the WiiWare service for only 500 points. Check out the trailer to see even more of this new shooting experience.

PopCap brings Zuma Blitz to Facebook..

Facebook is starting to become known more and more everyday as a way to kill time with casual games. With the huge success of Bejeweled Blitz, PopCap Games are now bringing their hugely popular puzzler Zuma to the social networking site as Zuma Blitz. Zuma Blitz will be the first adaptation of the huge fan favorite. Now you can take on your friends high scores and enjoy all of the ball-busting fun of Zuma with all of the new social-centric features being added in.

PopCap Games released this statement today:

“We’ve received a ton of feedback regarding how players consume Bejeweled Blitz and other leading social games, and incorporated a number of those insights into this initial phase of Zuma Blitz, with more to come,” said Jason Kapalka, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at PopCap. “Zuma is a very different game than Bejeweled, so the social adaptation has gone in different directions. Zuma is already a fast-paced arcade game, so the challenge was to make it feel approachable to players of all skill levels, even with just sixty seconds to play.”

Some of the best news for fans of Zuma is that PopCap will bring in more and more to enhance Zuma Blitz over time so users can expect it to evolve over time with newer features. When Zuma Blitz launches next month, here are the features that will be available:

  • New levels introduced regularly
  • An “experience points” system to unlock additional features and capabilities
  • A “Treasure Chest” virtual currency-based system for obtaining in-game power-ups
  • New features such as time extenders, score multipliers and the “Hot Frog” speed mode
  • Additional information on friends’ in-game performance and status such as medals won, achievements earned at various point thresholds and experience level
  • Weekly tournaments and leaderboards

Bejeweled Blitz currently gets over 100 Million play sessions per day with nearly 30 million users. Quite a staggering number. With Zuma Blitz rolling out next month, it will be a whole new way to kill time and all of your Facebook friend’s egos we can all “Like”.  For more information, check out Pop Cap’s Facebook or Official Website.

Possibly More Borderlands DLC hinted

On Twitter General Knoxx went offline with his on March 14. This account was used to promote Borderlands’ third DLC add-on, The Armory of General Knoxx. Knoxx has come back online today though.

The General Knoxx Twitter page had a new post earlier today with the following message, “tap. tap. is this on? had to turn my tweetergramming machine back on. just got some new orders. (sent from the future.)”. The then commences in insulting his followers.

My suggestion would be to watch the twitter account for any more details. It could mean some more free DLC or another DLC coming out, and this twitter account is going to be used to market the new DLC a bit.

Ubisoft announces Assassin’s Creed Comic Book Mini-Series

I don’t know who decided to start it, but every major publisher has begun to make tons of spin offs of their games. From animations to comic books, anything the carries the games name and can be sold is made.

Ubisoft has joined the bandwagon and has decided to create a comic book for Assassin’s Creed. The full press release is located below, it contains a bunch of other details about the writers of the comic.

Why is Ubisoft doing this? Well according to the press release below “The new comic series is part of Ubisoft Montreal’s UbiWorkshop initiative that encompasses a number of the studio’s projects related to leveraging Ubisoft intellectual properties in entertainment mediums outside of video games, such as comic books.”

~~
Today, Ubisoft announced an Assassin’s Creed comic book mini-series is currently in development and due for release this Spring. Developed by Eisner Award nominees and Shuster Award-winning illustrators Cameron Stewart (Batman & Robin, Seaguy and Catwoman) and Karl Kerschl (Superman and The Flash), the Assassin’s Creed comic mini-series will be unveiled during a panel to be held on July 22, 2010 from 3:30–4:30 p.m. in Room 7AB at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Moderated by G4TV’s Morgan Webb, the panel entitled “Assassin’s Creed: Behind and Beyond the Brotherhood” will include details of the new comic series and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood video game release. Featured panelists will include Stewart and Kerschl, along with Jeffrey Johalem, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood video game scriptwriter. Stewart and Kerschl recently visited Saint Petersburg, Russia on a research trip for the upcoming project. That visit, along with the teaser video released today, will give fans an inkling on where and when the new Assassin comic series will be taking place. Additional details on the project will be revealed at the Comic-Con panel.

The new comic series is part of Ubisoft Montreal’s UbiWorkshop initiative that encompasses a number of the studio’s projects related to leveraging Ubisoft intellectual properties in entertainment mediums outside of video games, such as comic books.

“We always thought that the Assassin’s Creed universe would be perfect for transmedia initiatives like this new comic series,” said Mathieu Ferland, transmedia senior producer at Ubisoft Montreal. “We are excited to have the fantastic and acclaimed artists Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl working on the project. Ubisoft is looking forward to showing Assassin’s Creed fans what these talented artists have been up to at next week’s Comic-Con panel.”

Okamiden recieves a limited edition E-Capcom Bundle

The “Okamiden Chiisaki Taiyou E-Capcom Limited Edition” has just been announced by Capcom, and you have the chance to purchase it if you live in Japan or have a friend there willing to buy it for you. The Chiisaki Tayiou edition will only be available however if you purchase from E-Capcom itself. This full package will run any buyer ¥8,000 while the game itself will cost ¥5,040.

Full Details about the package:

  • Original Box
This box has been designed in the image of the treasure boxes that appear in the game.
  • Chibiterasu Stuffed Animal Key Holder
A keyholder with a fluffy 10 cm Chibiterasu . You can attach this to your backpack or purse thanks to the ball chain at top.
  • Okamiden: Kuninushi no Kioku to Fujimi no Yokai
This is an original book written by Okamiden scenario writer Yukinori Kitajima and with images from Yuu Satsuki. The name translates to something along the lines of “Okamiden: Kuninushi’s Memory and the Immortal Ghoul.”
  • Chibiterasu Original Design Earphones
Special earphones with Chibiterasu’s paws on the buds and Chibiterasu’s face on the cord slider.
  • Okamiden: Sound and Light Treasure Box
Includes a CD soundtrack with six BGMs from the game and a DVD with promotional videos. Of the songs, three are arranged for acoustic guitar. The remaining three have been arranged more elaborately from their original versions.

Personally I am loving the key-chain Chibiterasu, the special earphones, and the box that the whole package would come in. Unfortunately the whole fact that you must be in Japan to purchase it is a bit of a let down. Though this brings us hope that eventually when the game is released internationally there will be an even better collector’s edition released, or one similar to this one.

Zombrex Dead Rising 2 Collector’s Edition for the States

So we’ve seen the UK version of the Dead Rising 2 Collector’s Edition which includes a figurine zombie, and now that the US version has come out, let’s see if it will stack up from having a zombie tourist to decorate the desk. The United States Collector’s Edition is called the Zombrex Edition, to go along with the drug used in the game to supposedly fight zombification.

The PS3 Version will include:

  • Exclusive Two-Disc Steelbook case includes:
  • Dead Rising 2 game disc
  • Blu-Ray Disc featuring a High-Definition 24 minute “Making of” featurette
  • Complete box contents include:
  • Steelbook case (described above)
  • Zombrex “Syringe” pen
  • Zombrex “Prescription” notepad (25 pages)
  • Zombrex “Safety” card
  • Zombrex “Prospectus” Sales Brochure (16 pages).
  • Dead Rising 2 Hardback Artbook (48 pages)
  • Voucher for XMB Dynamic Theme

The Xbox 360 Version though will include:

  • Exclusive Two-Disc Steelbook case includes:
  • Dead Rising 2 game disc
  • High-Definition game disc with 83 Minute “Zombrex Dead Rising Sun” motion picture and 24 minute “Making of” featurette
  • Complete box contents include:
  • Steelbook case (described above)
  • Zombrex “Syringe” pen
  • Zombrex “Prescription” notepad (25 pages)
  • Zombrex “Safety” card
  • Zombrex “Prospectus” Sales Brochure (16 pages).
  • Dead Rising 2 Hardback Artbook (48 pages)

The only difference between the two versions is that the PS3 version comes with the Blu-Ray disc of the Making of, and also a theme to download. While the 360 version will be coming with the full Zobrex Dead Rising Sun movie. What do you think about this edition? Would you have preferred the mini zombie statue? Expect to see all editions of the game arriving on shelves September 28th in North America, and October 1st everywhere else.
