This Week on Windows Phone 7 (3/2/11)

3! 2! 1! … another 1! I noticed that when putting a date in the title. The extra one stands for “only 1 game being released today”; so I guess that makes this post pretty easy. If the game interests you pick it up and enjoy. Also, some of you may be wondering why I don’t do these posts any earlier? Honestly, it is because it is decently hard to find the release schedule of the Windows Phone 7 games, all of the world doesn’t even know what is being released until they are released, which is every Wednesday. Today!

I Love Katamari ($6.99/£5.49)

The King of All Cosmos has accidentally knocked all the stars out of the sky during a crazy night out. It is up to the pint-sized Prince to put the twinkle back in the heavens in i Love Katamari. i Love Katamari delivers an experience only possible on the Windows Phone 7. The gameplay is simple! Tilt your Windows Phone 7 to roll your katamari with precision. Roll the katamari ball over various objects in each stage. As more and more objects are rolled up, your katamari will increase in size and it becomes possible to roll-up larger and larger objects.

Find Makarov – Live Action Modern Warfare Trailer

A rumor has been floating around that Activision was about to release some big news on the details of a possible “Modern Warfare 3”. All of these rumors were circulating around a site entitled www.FindMakarov.com; which now just leads to the youtube video below.

Activision has denied that it is releasing any details on the next Call of Duty game:

“There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call of Duty project,” a spokesperson for Activision originally declared. “Let me be clear that we are not revealing yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax.”

Turns out the website, and the Live Action trailer below are all fan created; though it doesn’t make any of it any less amazing.

Most of the video consists of live action recreations of memorable moments in the first 2 games and ends with a possible scene from the third game to rap up the illusion that it is a legit trailer. Too bad it isn’t; I guess this just means that Activision themselves will have to work their magic and create a truly epic trailer for their next CoD game, can’t be shown up by some fans can they?

Saints Row 3 officially announced by THQ

They may have tried to keep it under wraps but it is more or less impossible to hide an announcement for your game when you are plastering it all over the front page of a magazine. THQ officially confirmed that Saint’s Row 3 would be coming out some point in the holiday season later this year for the PS3, PC and Xbox 360.

It seems that this time around, rather than the 3rd Street Saints being a bunch of gang members, they are more of a corporation after rising to power from the streets. The Syndicate however isn’t going to just stand by and let this happen which means that the streets will run with blood as the two groups go to war. Volition is returning to work on the third game of the series and more information will be revealed when Game Informer has it all over it’s cover in April.

Warner Brothers set to appeal Mortal Kombat ban in Australia

After hearing the news that Mortal Kombat was going to be banned from release in Australia a lot of gamers’ hearts broke. After the years of waiting for a full Mortal Kombat game with all of the blood and gore that fans loved being set for a release date, it was held up and blocked from their hands. But Warner Brothers (the publishers) are not going to take this lying down.

Warner Brothers released a statement that they would appeal the Australian Classification Review Boards statement that they would refuse classification to Mortal Kombat. The reason they are so invested into appealing the refusal of classification is due to the fact that they themselves have looked at numerous games previously given ratings in Australia that were more violent and gory than their own. Hopefully their appeal will go through and you yourself can help out by signing the petition to help get Mortal Kombat released in Australia.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood “Da Vinci Disappearance” multiplayer trailer appears

What does Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’s online multiplayer need more than anything else? No it isn’t more characters but you will get those too. It is a free for all deathmatch mode! Ubisoft has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming DLC “Da Vinci Disappearance.” In this trailer there are a few new things that they decided to leave out of their previous announcements.

First of all there will be a few new characters such as The Dama Rossa, The Knight and The Pariah. There will also be a VIP protection mode where you not only have to protect your VIP, but kill the other teams VIP. But most importantly is the inclusion of the free for all deathmatch mode. Expect plenty of dogpile assassinations in the future when the DLC is released next week for $10 on the PS3 and 800 MSP on the Xbox 360.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time screens are a sight to behold

legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-3ds-screenshot-01

It is hard to believe that 25 years ago The Legend of Zelda was created, but Nintendo doesn’t forget as they have displayed at GDC today. Satoru Iwata mentioned the fact that this year is the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Zelda series and that Shigeru Miyamoto, Zelda’s creator, is currently working on something that will allow all Zelda fans to celebrate with one another.

Also released today was a spattering of screenshots from the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D which will be available in June for the 3DS. I can honestly say that I am impressed with the way that the game looks, the character models especially, compared to the way it looked back on the Nintendo 64.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword GDC trailer shows some gameplay

Legend of Zelda fans should be happy if they watched the GDC anywhere on the internet today because Nintendo happened to show off a brand new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The game itself isn’t done of course and the trailer itself has Japanese writing in the place of English menus but it is still a great sight to see.

On the other hand if you missed the trailer then you don’t need to worry because we have the video below. In the video we see a plenty of combat and even some tight rope action as Link balances on it. Also we see a very unsightly looking HUD with a giant wiimote on the side of the screen that hopefully won’t be in the final build of the game.
