What are we playing this week?

Editor-in-chief: MasterAbbott

Where do I start? This week’s been a busy one: I had three cool events where I got to play three awesome games. The first one was the legendary Duke Nukem Forever – I only got to play multiplayer and still can’t speak about it (due to embargo) but damn, it was really fun.  Check out our interview with Randy Pitchford and Steve Gibson and the rundown of the event here.

Next I got to play inFamous2 over at the Sony Head Quarters in Sydney and spoke to Ken Schramm and Joe Ishikua from Sucker Punch Productions.  Check out a full rundown (semi-preview) of the game and our interview here.  I have to say inFamous2 is looking awesome and was great fun to play.  The third game I got stuck into this week was over at UBISOFT offices, and I was totally blown away by the sheer awesomeness that was Driver San FranciscoCheck out our preview of the game here, even if you’re not the biggest fan of driving games (like me) you have to at least give this game a go just to experience the great story.

Apart from that I’ve been getting stuck into Gears of War 3 BETA, which is now in its third week (I’m nearly level 25). Even though I don’t have much time to play I still make sure I get in there and chainsaw some Locust scum. I still hate shotguns but hey, best way to counter that is to get your active reloads happening and fight fire with fire!

Lastly I’ve been spending a fair amount of time playing Gameloft’s WoW clone on the iPhone, Order and ChaosCheck out our review and video gameplay of the game here.  I must say this is certainly the best MMO on the iPhone; the only disappointment is that you can’t play it unless you are connected to a WiFi access point.  3G internet will not cut it due to the sheer size of the game.  MasterAbbott can finally play as a Monk character in Order and Chaos so I’ve been running around kicking the crap out of everything that gets in my way.  If you’ve got the game, jump onto the Asia server – Eye of the Swamp and send me a friend request…together we can beat the crap out of everything!

Have a great week. Play hard or don’t play at all!

With the release of Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat last week, you can easily guess what I’ve been spending most of my time with the past week. First I spent most of my time playing Portal 2 on the Xbox 360. At first I was skeptical about the title because it seemed like it was just good enough when bundled together with The Orange Box package but I wondered how it would be in a full game. It actually turned out to be quite well, but some of the puzzle mechanics from the original game really took a hit. While the humor was great and the plotline was enjoyable there were a lot of times that you had to spend a few minutes simply looking around a big environment to find the one place where you can put a portal. That’s not really puzzle solving – it’s more like Where’s Waldo with Portals.

As for Mortal Kombat, it’s 2011, developers. Fighting games do not need cheap bosses at the end of the arcade fights anymore. Shao Khan is entirely beatable but the first time I faced him it was pathetically one sided. Beyond him, however, I found myself enjoying the story as it tied a lot of different things together as a great reboot to the series. I found the challenge tower rather fun but I also found it really fun skipping nearly all of the tower fights and aiming for the Test Your Sight/Might/Strike as those were my favorites. Have to love the reward for making it to and completing the 300th floor of the tower though. Or at least the achievement that they give you for it.

Besides new titles I was able to get back into the Call of Duty: Black Ops online multiplayer again thanks to the Escalation map pack being released. The multiplayer maps are good for the most part except for the Stockpile level (which is literally as it sounds: a stockpile of all the snow maps placed into one jumbled mess). Besides that I have spent a good while on the Call of the Dead mode trying to send the old crew to Paradise, have to say that the achievements for the zombie mode this time around are going to take quite a long time to complete. I’ve dabbled in the Gears of War 3 Beta and have unlocked Cole Train in the main title, leveled up Tifa and Terra in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy and hitting up some Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars on the 3DS.

It has been a busy week for sure here. I most recently started playing Conduit 2 for the Wii. It is a decent shooter for the most part but online truly is what makes the game…so far anyway. I did encounter some bugs but it seems High Voltage are catching these as I have seen a patch applied as recently as last night, so it is nice to see this game looks to have full support from the developers (which is rare for a Wii Game). A review is coming soon on that.

Other than Conduit 2, I have been trying to mow through the Challenge Tower in MK, still have got quite a ways to go but all of the little touches and variations really make each challenge feel different. Portal 2 is also complete on both Single and Multi-player modes. Fantastic game all the way through and by far one of the most memorable stories I’ve went through in a long time. I also jumped back into RE5 a bit and I am going through the story yet again. I can’t even count the number of times I have went through the story mode, but there is just something about the whole RE universe that makes multiple playthroughs a must for myself.

The Pokemon dream world has also been a lot of fun to proceed through as well and I have caught quite a few team members from that feature all while attempting to harvest berries to buy furniture (100 berries for a CHAIR? MADNESS!). I am not really a Gears player, but the beta is awesome from what I have played so far and thankfully MasterAbbott and a few others have been showing me the ropes and I have hopes of gaining level 25 before the beta ends on the 15th.

Portal 2, Prince of Persia, Prince of Persia: the Forgotten Sands, and Runescape.

So I finally finished off Portal 2 Co-op with a friend on Friday, and then started on the rest of the achievements but got bored and decided to go for them another time. I bought two Prince of Persia games last weekend and started playing both. For some reason it seems like they simplified the combat and the overall style of the game in both. It seems more like I move forward through the levels and the levels solve themselves. Maybe it is because I am just that good, or maybe it is because they really did make the game easier to accommodate the little whiners out there who think it is too hard. Yeah, I am looking at you…you know just who you are! Something got me to start playing Runescape again; I’m not exactly sure why but I paid for another month of membership. I got into the game, donned my 99 agility cape, Verac’s chest piece, and dragon legs once again and… started cooking. Yes, I literally bought membership just to sit there and cook all 2000 shark and 1500 monkfish that were in my bank. What in the world is actually fun about this game? I am still looking for it, but I’ll probably just spend up my month doing absolutely nothing other than fishing and cooking. What is wrong with me?! Want to check out my stats? Look me up on the Hiscores: my username is “RadicalDylan”.

This past week I played Pacman Championship DX edition, and I got almost all the achievements in the game.  I love the graphics and music, and the gameplay is still tops.  It is the best version of Pacman that anyone could possibly play.

I also got about 7 hours deep into Just Cause 2. I still love the grappling hook and causing mayhem, but so much of the fun in the game is hindered by boring stuff.  For example, the game world is huge, but unless you explore every inch, there is very little to do.   The missions can be exciting, but often times they are a little too rote for me. Bugs, glitches and controls are also a huge problem.  Finally, I hate how you must cause a certain amount of “Chaos” before a campaign mission is unlocked.  Overall though, there is still nothing better than hijacking a helicopter and shooting up oil silos that cause explosions that then fling the enemy every which way.

The final game I played this week was Forza 3. I am still loving zipping around tracks in million dollar cars.  The painting and design system is also probably one of the most amazing mechanics I have ever experienced and I hope that is implemented into other games too.

With the burden of assignments ever present, I haven’t been able to put on my gaming shoes apart from the purpose of reviewing. Because of this, my gaming list for this week will be rather brief. Earlier in the week I had the opportunity to review the new Gameloft MMORPG, Order and Chaos Online. I’m not really a fan of these types of games, having never played World of Warcraft or anything like that. Despite of this, I had a blast getting to learn the ropes of the genre. Feel free to read the review or look at our gameplay video if you’re interested in it; I highly recommend it to iOS gamers. New to my reviewing list is the 3DS game Steel Diver. As I am yet to write the review, I won’t give too much away! I’ve been having a bit of fun playing it so far, which is about all I think I can say at the moment. Stay tuned for a review. As a form of huge procrastination, and a somewhat guilty pleasure, I’ve indulged myself in wasting a few moments here and there playing Tetris Battle on Facebook. After my addiction to Restaurant City a few years ago I thought my days of Facebook social gaming were behind me, but I’ve got to say that Tetris Battle is awesome fun. A really interesting twist on a classic game!

Lately I’ve been playing ALOT of the new Mortal Kombat game….NOT! Damn you, Australian Classification Board! Instead I’m loving the new Black Ops DLC Escalation, and more specifically the map Call of the Dead. I’m going crazy over the fact Robert Englund and George A. Romero are in the same place at once…and I can slay zombies at the same time! I’ve also been playing Chillingo’s new iPhone game Vampire Rush: it’s a Tower and Defence game with a Hack ‘n’ Slash twist that actually works pretty well. The other day I almost got hit by a car because I began cross a main road without noticing because I was so into it! It’s really one of those games that get you into the zone when you’re doing well, which I love. I’ve also been brushing up on my X-Men vs Street Fighter. But mostly I’m thinking about buying Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, because all this Mortal Kombat talk is getting me in the mood for some 2D MK fighting, and if I have to settle for second best, so be it!

Eroge/Hentai games.

Seriously though, I only just got the internet back up after a long move, so I’ve been catching up on all my MMORPG’s; mainly WoW and RIFT. But, I have also been playing a tonne of QuakeLive (as always) but I feel like I’m completely gimped now – the move has really killed my skills.

During the internetless period; I actually picked up Unreal Tournament 2004 again and I found that I’m still reasonably good at it. Of course, I can’t take on godlike bots with instagib rifles like I could used to, but I can still kick a full team of Inhuman bots’ assess any day. This is also with or without the instagib mutator. I might actually upload the video of me back in the day instagibbing Godlike bots and winning, good times. Also, on topic with the UT, I’ve also been playing Unreal Tournament 3, same deal as with 2k4, can do inhuman but not godlike. I’m sure I’ll get back into it though.

Also during this period without the internet, I recently went back to an old favourite series of mine; .hack//. I absolutely loved these games; and still do. On my current run through, I’m up to the Mutation disc with Kite at level 50. Damned virus core hunting, why’d they have to make it so hard to get them?! For those of you who don’t know, I’ll basically mini-rant this quickly. Essentially you have a skill “Data Drain” that you use on enemies to obtain the virus core, but, the more you use the Data Drain, the less likely you are to obtain one. It kind of resets though after you kill a few enemies, but, it is still chance dominated and can get incredibly hard to get the cores you need, especially if they only drop from say a large enemy, and each area that is your level has large amounts of small – medium enemies. Gah! It’s not as bad as I make it sound though, it’s just a little annoying when you need 1 virus core and you don’t get it until the end of the dungeon in the area that you’re in.

Lastly, the 3DS. People who live in the Newcastle area, please take your 3DSes out with you, I haven’t streetpassed anybody yet! If you live in the area, keep a look out for my Mii; you’ll know it when you see it. On my 3DS I’ve been practicing hard on Super Street Fighter IV and I also have a review coming up in the next few days for a title appearing on the system (if it’s not up when this is published).

I started off May with a bit of a whimper: with the PSN still being down and my Xbox dead there wasn’t much to do. I did get through a majority of Final Fantasy X-2 (at the behest of a friend), but that isn’t anything to celebrate. I also went back to Phantasy Star Online with the same friend and have been levelling up my HUcast. That’s a giant robot that fights with laser swords for those of you out of the loop. I spent a bit of time with Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat, although I’m anxiously waiting for the PSN to come back to life before I can do anything too intense in either game. I’ve actually been reading this week rather than gaming a lot, as I just picked up James Clavell’s Shogun…and how can you put a book down that’s about samurai?

Editor: Adam Tabor

Well it’s been a couple of weeks since I was able to do one, but fear not: I’m still alive. Well, at work my PSP has been my good friend; we’ve been playing some Final Fantasy IV, also got Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the PSP as well and loving it. I’m also playing Tetris (you can’t go wrong with blocks), and some random iPhone games I have which I can’t remember. I have shown my consoles some loving (when I’m not drained from work), played Bangai-O for Xbox Live and getting owned in that. and I am trying to finish Final Fantasy XIII on my PS3 because I have been putting it off and now I have procrastinated no longer. Trying to get into the groove of it isn’t as easy when you stopped playing it for a year. Also, of course, I got some retro goodness going on as I have ordered a system from Japan that I have wanted for a long time…and that is the Neo Geo CDZ. For those of who are saying Neo-G whaaaaat?…Neo Geo was a company that made arcade games and decided to bring that home to people in the ‘90s. Needless to say an arcade machine console wasn’t cheap…then they developed a more cost effective version known as the Neo Geo CD and the Z is just a model with a little faster load speed. I played some King of Fighters 97 on it as well as one of my personal favourite Neo Geo game, The Last Blade. Finally with the announcement of Guardian Heroes coming to Xbox Live Arcade, I dug out my Sega Saturn and had myself a good old time. Now if you excuse me, my Paradigms don’t shift themselves.

Super Mario 3DS will utilize Gyro Controls; No Streetpass…

Since that raccoon-tailed logo for Super Mario 3DS was revealed a while back for Super Mario 3DS, many have been speculating of what exactly Mario’s 3D debut would hold. Thanks to a recent interview with The Telegraph, we now can confirm that the gyro censor will be utilized and it looks to be that camera control will be the main function.

Miyomoto mentioned “Sometimes people ask why the 3DS isn’t double stick; One is normally used to control the camera, but having the gyro sensor you can replace the analogue stick by moving the console, which is very intuitive.”

Miyomoto also doesn’t believe the Streetpass will be used “unless a spectacular idea comes to mind”.

I can see how this would work and it is “intuitive” as Miyomoto stated, but I am not particularly fond of the idea of constantly moving the console to play any game, honestly. That being said, I wasn’t fond of the idea of waggle controls in Galaxy and actually enjoyed every second of that game as they were well utilized, so I am sure this very could well be a lot more subtle than it sounds at the moment. As for the Streetpass, my personal idea would be simply to exchange records and maybe unlock a few easter eggs as a reward such as costumes, music, or Mii items. It is always a proud moment in Mario games to hit that 100% marker, and i certainly think showing it off would add a bit more incentive for completion. Just an idea of course.

Brink has over 100 quadrillion total unique characters

With the release of Brink just under a week away in Australia and New Zealand, Bethesda Softworks has announced a cool new statistic about the game.

In Brink, players can customise their own character, including their character’s class, appearance, and items. While us gamers are no strangers to customisability in games, Bethesda has said that up to 100,000,000,000,000,000 different characters can be created. Yes, you read that correctly – the game has over 100 quadrillion total unique characters which players can generate.

While the gameplay will be a major factor in defining whether or not the game is popular, Brink’s character customisability will ensure that each game can be tailor-made to suit the player. Look out for Brink’s release in Australia on May 12th, and its release in New Zealand on May 13th.

Sonic Generations & Time Crisis Headed to the 3DS..

While Sega have confirmed Sonic Generations for the Xbox 360 & PS3, a Gamestop release schedule is now showing the latest Sonic title will be headed to the 3DS. I haven’t seen too many times where Gamestop have listed something inaccurate so I would say this is a bit stronger than a standard rumor at the moment and I am sure Sega will elaborate soon enough. Time Crisis is also scheduled to make an appearance on the 3D handheld as well.

Something tells me that both titles were probably being saved for announcements at E3 and Gamestop have yet again let the cat out of the bag, but either way I am curious to see how both utilize the 3D functions as both certainly could have great potential on the 3DS.

CELEBRATE MOTHER’S DAY: WITH GAMINGS TOP 10 GAME MOMS!

Hey folks! Seeing as it’s mother’s day today, I’d thought I’d help kick it off for everyone by putting together a list of the top 10 moms from video gaming! Feel the love and maternal spirit folks!

10) Alma from F.E.A.R

Despite her having a HIGHLY traumatic back story, and not to mention creepy, homicidal tendencies towards enemies in the F.E.A.R games, the fact that this creepy little girl is going through all of these steps to protect her some of her children, or produce more goes to show that she at least has a slightly maternal side. Then again, in F.E.A.R 1 she WAS trying to kill Pointman… who is TECHNICALLY her son too. However she DID try to help Paxton, and (we can assume) will try to protect her new unborn child in F.E.A.R 3. Well… 2 out of 3 ain’t so bad… you know?

9) Amariss from Summon Night

Summon Night is a lesser known series amongst many gamers, but it did feature as one of my favourite games on the Gameboy Advance system. What stands out about this little RPG number is the anime style humour that goes along so well with the story and action behind the game. From the get go, the player character is introduced to a rather overly happy and wacky woman… who just happens to be your mother. Amariss is one funny and scary lady. She’s always supportive and protective of her children and her friends, but will always follow through with a punishment or threat. This can sometimes be shown in unexpected ways. One of the most memorable scenes in the game I remember was when the player character and the guildmaster were running to assist your mother because soldiers were on their way to your house in hopes of finding you. When you arrive, you find that not only is Amariss unharmed, but she’s LECTURED the enemy soldiers in COMPLETE submission. Seeing damage dealt due to the mention of “you should be ashamed of yourselves…” was freaking hilarious. 🙂

8 ) Leandra Hawke from Dragon Age 2

Lower on the list because we, as gamers have not had time to get used to her yet. Leandra is clearly a very caring mother, and absolutely devoted to her children. Ironic, because Hawke’s always trying to protect HER. The level of Anguish that she shows when Bethany or Carver fall in battle speaks volumes about her care for her children. Hell, the fact that she ran away from a noble life in Kirkwall to a small farm village in Fereldan to raise a family shows that she’s a devoted woman. But when it comes to dealing with her uptight relatives like Gamlen, she doesn’t take ANYONE’S crap.

7) GLaDoS from Portal

I always pictured GLaDoS as a female Hal 9000, both because of character traits and general maliciousness. OK, not a “Mom” in the strictest sense of the word. Let’s fast forward to Portal 2. She DOES technically create two robots, most likely using part of her own programming to construct their AI’s. It explains why they have less free will and personality, like Wheatley, and are more inclined to do what she says. The fact that this malicious computer doesn’t simply blow them up at the smallest failure says she holds at least SOME value in Atlas and P-body. We all know why, but what creator doesn’t cherish their creations in some degree? But, the important thing is, as a parent, well she’s freaking hilarious. Psychotic and twisted, but hilarious in dialogue.

6) Mother Brain from Metroid

Who else HATED this boss? The figurehead of the space pirates from Metroid… literally. That said however, she was a challenge to defeat, even with all of Samus’ powerups working. Why I’ve put her/it on the number 6 spot is more so because she’s a genuinely memorable character in gaming. Partially because of the challenge, but also partially because she provided us with one of the most memorable moments… and the plot device from the introduction of Other M. Whether that’s good or bad I’ll leave up to you. But nonetheless, Mother Brain was certainly one memorable mama.

5) Samara from Mass Effect 2

“When 900 years old YOU reach, look as good, you will not, hm?” Considering that Samara is elderly by Asari standards, she still looks damn fine in that combat outfit. Samara is a very interesting character in the Mass Effect series. We’re first introduced to her in Mass Effect 2, during an investigation of a runaway criminal. We’re told that this matter is of personal significance to her, but Shepard doesn’t find out HOW personal until quite a bit later in the game. This Asari Justicar is brutal in combat, to say the least, and completely driven by her mission objective. While she’s law obidding, when the situation warrants, NOTHING will keep her from tearing apart an enemy with her biotics. When we find out the fugitive she’s hunting is her own daughter, this develops her characters quite significantly. Plus it opens up oppourtunities for some of the funniest and most unique situations in Mass Effect 2. For instance, in her loyalty mission, Shepard can try to pick a fight with a gigantic Krogan… and have the Krogan back down. Unexpected, but highly entertaining. Without revealing to much more, let’s just say the end of that mission can get VERY interesting based on your affinity. (And I’m not talking anything sexual either.)

4) Scarlet Robe from Fable

It’s kind of strange that we aren’t introduced to such a significant character until at least halfway through the events of Fable 1. Scarlet robe is introduced to us by none other than the ultimate archenemy: Jack of Blades. He shows the main character a statue of a former arena champion, whilst pretending to be friendly and on your side. He describes her as a warrior prodigy, and it is revealled where the main character receives his heroes blood. Scarlet robe was a famous Balverine hunter who fell wounded in battle. She was later found and restored to health by the heroe’s father, who later marrys her. In the context of present event, she only appears as an old lady once rescued from the prison, but she takes to the guildmaster’s side in providing advice to you on where to find your lost sister, and how to prevent Jack from getting what he wants. Even in old age, Scarlet Robe continues to defy the odds stacked against her. Even with an immortal psychotic masked man after her.

3) Trainer’s Mom from Pokémon

Is every mother in the Pokémon world single? Seriously, at the start of every Pokemon series, we only ever see the mom staying at home, kind of adhering to that homemaker stereotype. However, this is not to say that they were not helpful or memorable. Out of all 5 pokemon generations so far, only generation 3 ever even considered to show who the play character’s father was. In everything else, they seem to do fine raising a child on their own. At least until they’re 10 and leave home… :/ Each will always provide their phone number for advice, or even to help with their child’s savings. They also are well known for handing out some of the most important in-game items to the player, free of charge. The running shoes, poke-gear, healing items etc. But each of these different mothers is different in their own distinct ways. For example, the mom from Generation 2 is infamous for asking you to entrust your money to her… only for her to go off and spend it on shopping… mostly for useless berries… -_- This has been the subject of many pokemon jokes in the past. Similarly in the anime, Ash’s mom has quite a few quirks of her own, making her very similar to Amariss in her caring, but slightly embarrassing nature. But as always, they’re always around in the starting town to call on words of encouragement to their children.

2) Jenova from Final Fantasy 7

I’ll get this out of the way now: Sephiroth is the BIGGEST mama’s boy EVER. And Kadaj and his gang aren’t much better. Jenova is on this list for two reasons: one, she’s a massive plot device for the Final Fantasy 7 universe. Whenever cooky, unnatrual mutations or magic is involved, we assume that Jenova is somehow involved. From the best players can gather, Jenova was an alien being that crash landed on the Final Fantasy planet. Her remains were dug up and tested on by Shinra, who went to extraordianry lengths to unlock her power. Even going so far to create a series of sons and monsters from her DNA, the worst of whom is Cloud’s archenemy. Although, technically Cloud and Zack were exposed to Jenova cells too. The second reason for her placement is that she has the most kick-ass boss battle soundtrack EVER from a final fantasy game. Seriously, once you’ve finished reading this, go have a listen. It kicks ass in a rock remix. While she may not be maternal in the same sense as GLaDoS, as a mother figure, she is certainly a standout one in the world of video games.

1) Cooking Mama from well… Cooking Mama…

There has to be some kind of reason this chibi anime based game is a best seller. Well, besides the fluid gameplay… Cooking mama is just a plain addictive game, not so much for the characters, but for the feel of the game itself. However, no matter how badly you perform, mama is usually there with a supportive smile and an assurance that she will “fix it”. Again, this leans towards maternal stereotypes, but Cooking Mama is probably THE most memorable gaming mom in existence. The simple design of the game couples a mother’s love for cooking with the notion of getting children involved and helping around the kitchen. This, to me, shows what moms typically try to do in reality. They will try to let children find their own feet, but will be there to help out if they falter. Couple this with that WINNING smile, and you have not only a great selling game, but a great selling character. Only cooking mama can make knives and other household sharp objects seem cute. Cooking is often referred to as an expression of love to close family members, and being involved with the process CAN actually teach you things about real life cooking. So go on… try making a recipe for mothers day. No, not with your stylus… Perhaps on a day like this, it’s better to let her relax for once, and cook up a deserving meal for your own mom.

-Spike out. 😉

Let us know what you thought of our top 10 mom’s, also we’re running a Mother’s Day comp to win a FREE GAME !! check it out here.

Bungie will not be Present at this year’s E3…

Any reveals of Bungie’s next big project will just have to wait it seems as the developer posted on their official blog that they will not be attending E3 this year. The internet has been buzzing since the release of Halo: Reach of what the next big step is for Bungie, but it appears that for now we must twiddle our thumbs and wait until this veil of secrecy is lifted sometime until the near future.

While I did have hope that Bungie would be attending the event, there is no doubt this year’s E3 will still be one to watch closely as Nintendo reveal the Wii Successor and it will be also interesting to see just what Sony will have to present after this very difficult year. As for Microsoft, I am expecting something Halo-ish in the works, but for now it is just a wait and see.

Happy Mother’s Day GIVE AWAY

Mother’s Day is about to end here in Australia but it’s just starting in other parts of the world, and I hope you all put your controllers down and told your mum “Happy Mother’s Day” at least once.  If you did celebrate it, what did everyone do for their mother on mother’s day?  Let us know what you did, the best entry will be picked and we’ll send you over a random video game we have here in the office.  Maybe you can give it to your mum if she’s into video games.

I’ll start the ball rolling: I bought my mum some flowers, and got her a card as well, we had a family lunch which was nice and relaxing, I ate a lot by the way.  After lunch I checked my emails and played some iPhone and 3DS games.  Showed mum how to play Street Fighter IV 3D but she just couldnt get the hang of the control system and got beat by Dan 🙁  Oh well at least she gave it a try 😉

Happy Mothers Day to all from the Capsule Computers Crew !! Good Luck and let the best comment win 🙂

Demo For Sonic Generations Rated by Australian Classifications Board

Talk about getting something done early. While Sonic Generations doesn’t even release until “Holiday” of this year, the Australian Classifications Board have already rated the demo for the game many months in advance. Of course a “G” rating was given for the new Sonic title, but the rating really isn’t the story here. Demos for any title usually do not start to pop up until maybe a month or two before the said game typically releases, making this early and quite public rating raise quite a bit of speculation.

With E3 right around the corner, this could mean that Sega are ready to unveil a playable demo at the event or just simply launch the game’s demo on the XBLA and PSN alongside the inevitable trailers and footage that will be used to hype the game at the event. Judging by the early approach taken here by Sega to get this demo rated, all gamers anticipating the hedgehog’s return should no doubt keep their eyes peeled for a demo of some sort hitting consoles this summer (unless this is just a simple case of getting the whole process of ratings out of the way).
