Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster Kinect gameplay video

Microsoft’s E3 press conference saw Double Fine’s Tim Schafer say that for once, one of his games would actually be playable for his daughter. The game in question is of course Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster, an interactive storybook game which brings these lovable monsters to life.

From what we’ve seen, it is looking perfect for younger gamers, and with this latest video that shows Kinect gameplay. The game’s so colourful that it is looking like a pop-out storybook, with vibrant scenes featuring the Sesame Street cast.

Is anyone eyeing this up as a game to play with their kids? The on-stage demo of E3 2011 consisted of young children waving their arms around and this trailer shows a father playing with his kid.

Xbox to become Enchanted with Kinect Disneyland Adventures

Microsoft made it clear with their presentation today that they were trying to appeal to gamers of all audiences. Kinect Disneyland Adventures was one of the titles announced earlier today that is directed at the family market. In this new Kinect title, players get to explore the magic of Disneyland from the comfort of their own home, with many familiar faces such as Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, and other classic Disney characters.

Theme park exploration isn’t all that this game has to offer though, as during the presentation we seen two kids with somewhat decent acting skills take to the skies as they flew over the Disney Unverse, collecting coins and dodging obstacles on the way through Neverland as well as pulling a Super Monkey Ball type move and rolling in hamsterballs as they spun through Wonderland. The whole presentation/gameplay shown wasn’t too informative, but from what we seen this is of course another on-rails type of game that appeared to feature crisp, clean and colorful visuals that captured the whole Disneyland atmosphere perfectly.

You can watch the presentation in full below and don’t forget to “GRAB THE COINS”!

Microsoft E3 2011: Dashboard Updates with Kinect

Microsoft had a slew of announcements at their E3 2011 press conference regarding Xbox Live. YouTube will be coming to the platform and Microsoft is integrating Bing into the console with voice search via Kinect. Just ask Kinect for anything you’re looking for and Bing will automatically do a search across your library and all the stores available including Netflix and Hulu on Xbox Live. It’s actually quite remarkable when you see it in practice and will really expedite searching for content on the device.
Also searchable through Kinect is Live TV with Microsoft announcing partnerships with Sky, Canal+ and Foxtel to show live content on your 360.

If you’re into MMA, Microsoft also announced UFC on Xbox Live. You’ll be able to purchase and watch pay-per-view events all while calling fights, watching training videos and look at stats.

No release dates were mentioned.

Forza 4 coming October 11th

Just one of the many games fresh off Microsoft’s E3 Kinect bonanza, Forza 4 was showcased with a trailer and Kinect support for the game has been expanded on from what was already previewed. We’d already seen a vague promo reel earlier which showed how you could view the cars up close with Kinect, but now headtracking and voice recognition have been confirmed for the racer.

A huge roster of cars is a given, with vehicles available from over 80 manufacturers, and monthly expansion packs will prolong the games lifespan greatly. As you’ll see from the trailer that was played, Forza 4 will be for lovers of shiny cars, and the feature of inspecting cars will no doubt prove popular to those who get off to expensive sports cars.

Fable: The Journey Announced At E3…

Continuing Microsoft’s Kinect related announcements, a brand new Fable game was unveiled at the event. Fable: The Journey is set in the Fable world, but will be completely motion-controlled via the Kinect sensor. During the debut clip for the game, the familiar voice of Theresa greeted viewers to what will be the first motion-controlled Kinect title from a franchise.

The clip didn’t really go into detail as far as plot goes, but instead we seen a glimpse of how Fable: The Journey will actually play out while using the Kinect sensor. A scene is quickly set with the player taking control of the reins of a wagon as it speeds out of control, only to have to do battle using magic spells with several enemies shortly after. It definitely is a change for the Fable franchise we are familiar with as it appears the gameplay will be 100% on rails. Personally, this looks to be a hard sell for those most familiar with the Fable series as the exploration element seems to be vacant in The Journey. Only time will truly tell though how this epic this journey might become, but for now you can watch the new launch trailer below.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition coming November 2011

Somewhere in the middle of the Microsoft E3 2011 conference, 343 Industries and Microsoft showed off the trailer for the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition.  This edition includes assassinations, co-op over Xbox Live, a remastered campaign and more. 7 multiplayer maps will be included. 6 maps will be for multiplayer, while the 7th will be a Firefight map.

Whether or not Halo 2 will also be included is unconfirmed. Achievements have not yet been confirmed.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is releasing on November 15, 2011 and will be cheaper than a standard Xbox 360 game.  Watch the unofficially captured trailer below.

Are you excited about all the Halo announcements coming out of E3 2011?

Halo 4 coming Holiday 2012

Revealed just a few minutes ago, Halo 4 is coming to the Xbox 360 in the Holiday of 2012.  The trailer came at the very end of the Microsoft conference.  Apparently, it will start off where Halo 3 ended.  In the trailer, Cortana wakes up the Chief and they barely escape the exploding ship.  A strange, alien device (possibly another Halo ring) is in front of them.  The trailer fades out to the release date.  This game will be made by 343 Industries.

An unofficially captured trailer is embedded below.  Hopefully, we can find the official trailer soon!

Minecraft Headed Exclusively to the Xbox 360!

Microsoft’s E3 presentation is now finished and the buzz is still among all of us here with what was an impressive line-up, full of surprises. One of the most shocking announcements came with a brief confirmation that Minecraft will now be headed to the Xbox 360 with full Kinect compatibility.

This announcement was also eyebrow raising due to the fact that Minecraft will be an exclusive to the system for a “Winter” release. At the time, no details are known for this version of the popular sandbox phenomenon, but I expect that to change soon. Now is the time though where we can have fun speculating. What kind of role will the Kinect play? How will this version rival what we have seen on the PC? So tell us, what do you think Minecraft will have in store for the Xbox 360 in the comments section below.

Dead Island E3 trailer

A new trailer called “Part 2: Dead Island Begins” has been released by Deep Silver/Techland for upcoming tropical island zombie disaster game Dead Island.

It’s looking very creepy, probably due to the fact that the setting is so real; there’s no haunted mansion or castle of doom, only a sunny holiday resort abroad. This trailer also shows some of the first-person gameplay and the hard-hitting melee aspect which characterises the game, as well as an array of the inventive weaponry as your disposal, including machetes and some make-shift electro-shocker weapon.

The combat is bloody and brutal, and the trailer features some swearing. Consider this a warning.

Mass Effect 3 Collector’s Edition Listed on Amazon; Confirms Kinect Support

Microsoft should be giving us the deets on Mass Effect 3 shortly, but for those who are impatient, Amazon have listed a Collector’s Edition of the game with a March 6th release date. Of course that date could just be a placeholder at the moment, so nothing is set in stone. What has been confirmed though is a nice purple strip on the Xbox 360 version of the game, confirming the previously rumored Kinect support.

Details of what the Mass Effect 3 Collector’s Edition actually holds have also been revealed by the online retailer:

  • Premium metal case featuring commemorative artwork of Commander Shepard.
  • 70-page hardbound art book featuring hundreds of unique and gorgeous illustrations from the BioWare development team plus an exclusive 4×6 lithographic print featuring a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork
  • Limited edition Mass Effect comic by Dark Horse Comics, complete with unique cover artwork
  • Join the ranks of the N7 with the premium fabric N7 patch
  • A full collection of in-game content that can’t be found anywhere else!
