Mass Effect 3 Gameplay Trailer

Following the unveiling of the Mass Effect 3 release date and official trailer, EA and Bioware also took the liberty to provide us gamers around the world with a sneak peek at the action behind the final instalment of the trilogy.

There’s only one word…epic.

The gameplay video showcases Commander Shepard and Mordin having a quick conversation, but really it’s all about shooting, running, and action. It is epic, to say the least, and the video really is demonstrating just how much more movement will be in the title. While Mass Effect 3 has always been known more for its role playing aspect, this preview seems to be shutting up all the gamers who complained about the lack of action. Of course, the story will be as epic as the action – the game was written to span across three games – but hopefully this last title will satisfy both gamers who appreciate story and gamers who love to shoot things.

EA announces Football Club for FIFA 12

We all know that football isn’t fun unless you share it with other people – it is the world game, after all. EA have found a new way to integrate this into their upcoming football title, FIFA 12: introducing the latest social tool for FIFA, the Football Club.

I’ll take great delight in beating Manchester United…but I don’t represent the rest of the Capsules Crew!

EA announced at E3 that this latest feature will allow players from all around the world to support their favourite clubs, compete against rival clubs for club points, build experience points for their club, and improve their club’s position in the League tables. Players will also be able to participate in “real world challenges” where they will experience and play through real world football events through challenges in the game. Unfortunately, the Football Club will only be available for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, so Nintendo and PSP gamers will miss out.

FIFA 12 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated FIFA games yet – with the Football Club, Player Impact Engine, and improved movement controls, the title appears to be taking football realism and simulation to the next level…

…and here’s another piece of good news: the Football Club will come with no additional charge.

Kinect Sports Season Two Details

Sports games seem to be the best way for companies to show off their motion-sensing controls, and with the first Kinect Sports game holding the title of top-selling Kinect game to date, a second was all but inevitable.

Kinect Sports Season Two features six new sports – baseball, skiing, golf, darts, tennis and football – and by not including the sports from the original Kinect Sports, it doesn’t negate the need to play the first game.

Golf and Football were demonstrated, and look to be much the same in presentation as the first game. In-game voice is included this time around (with the given example being to change clubs in the golf game), and the game will also respond to new gestures. Producer Nicole Makila demonstrated one such gesture in golf; placing a hand over her forehead in a salute brought up a sweeping view of the course ahead. These interesting additions should keep the game responsive and fun.

The success of the original just about guarantees the success of this one too, as it demonstrates many possibilities of the Kinect hardware.

Kinect coming to Ghost Recon and every Tom Clancy game

In the Microsoft E3 conference, it was revealed that ALL Tom Clancy games, starting with Future Soldier, will be utilizing Kinect in some way.

For Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, this ultilization comes in the form of gun customazatoin.  If you spread your hands apart, the gun comes apart and you can use your fingers or voice to select new peices to add.  By saying, “Randomize,” you can get a random gun, and by saying , “Optimize for long range,” you’ll get a sniper rifle.  All in all, it was a pretty snazzy demo.  It looks as though using the Kinect to shoot will also be included.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning’s E3 Trailer Shows Rebirth & Revenge…

News for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has been slowly increasing for some time now but today EA came forward with a whole new trailer for the fantasy title that gave us a better look at the tale within. Taking the role as a fallen soldier who has recently been “reborn”, the player must set out on a journey for revenge against the being that ended his life as well as to save the land of Amalur once and for all.

Right off, I really liked how this trailer spent a few seconds at the beginning to show off the bright and beautifully designed scenery in the game. A bit of combat is also shown that comes off to me to be a very appealing combination of Fable and Oblivion, which honestly makes perfect sense as Reckoning is being developed by Ken Rolston, who had a heavy hand in the two previous Elder Scrolls titles. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is due out sometime next year for the Xbox 360, PS3, & PC.

505 Games Announce BlackWater for the Kinect…

505 Games have now came forward to reveal Blackwater, exclusively coming to the Xbox 360 Kinect. Blackwater is being boasted as “an immersive First Person eXperience”, produced by Pantierra and developed by Zombie Studios (Blacklight: Tango Down). Blackwater also gets it’s name from the former name of the private security company founded in 1997 by Erik Prince, a former Navy SEAL, to provide training support to military and law enforcement agencies.

What sets Blackwater apart from other modern combat shooters on the market is the way the game is actually controlled. Players can either take to their arsenal with the Xbox 360 controller or with the Kinect’s controller-free abilities, making the game even more immersive.

“The Blackwater team is comprised of an amazing group of individuals and we’re proud to work with them to create a video game that showcases their talent and courage,” said Ian Howe, President, 505 Games. “Being able to get the controller out of player’s hands with Kinect and have them on the ground and immersed in the experience will give them a glimpse of what it takes to be a member of an elite fighting force.”

As of right now, not much else has been announced for Blackwater aside from a release time window of “fall 2011”. By the sound of things though, this could be one FPS or “First Person eXperience” we will have to keep an eye on as 505’s line-up is displayed during E3.

Mass Effect 3’s Debut Trailer Premeires; Dated for 3-6-12..

After many months of waiting, Bioware and EA have now debuted the official gameplay trailer for Mass Effect 3. As many of you know by now, Mass Effect 3 will wrap up the trilogy as Commander Shepard and his (or her) crew battle to take back earth from the reapers. As mentioned earlier due to a leak from Amazon, a collector’s edition was also announced.

“With Mass Effect 3, we are delivering blockbuster action and heart-wrenching emotion on a scale that far exceeds anything we’ve ever done before,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “This is an all-out galactic war and how you choose to lead and play will ultimately determine how – and if – you can save the galaxy.”

The actual trailer shows non-stop action from start to finish, with the gameplay looking fast-paced, smooth, and event more action oriented than the two previous entries. The visuals also look spectacular and seem to be coated with even more polish this time around, upping the overall presentation value ten fold. At the end of the clip, we finally see the long awaited date for Mass Effect 3, which official sets the game’s launch at March 6th, 2012 for the Xbox 360, PC, & PS3. You can watch the trailer in full below and we will bring you more coverage for Mass Effect 3 as it surfaces.

Codename Kingdoms revealed as ‘Ryse’

Anyone who was paying attention at last year’s E3 may remember a little something called Codename Kingdoms. Since then, however, no new information with respect to Codename Kingdoms was dished out, until that is, the game was revealed only recently by Crytek at this year’s Microsoft E3 press conference under a new name: Ryse.

It is now known that the game will be a Kinect title, a brutal first-person experience which sees you hold your shield and sword and chop down those that stand in your way; “You are the controller. You are the warrior.”

By the looks of it you play a gladiator of sorts, with a Roman setting and time period.

WWDC 2011: Game Center Update

Apple sure has a lot to brag about. In only 9 months there are now 50 million Game Center users. To place that into a little bit of perspective, Xbox Live has been around for about 8 years and has 50 million users. Admittedly, that’s an unfair comparison as the markets are different, but that’s quite a number no matter how you dice it up. At WWDC 2011, Apple announced it will be updating Game Center to include a more robust profile, friend and game recommendations, the ability to play turn based games directly in the OS and the ability to purchase and download games directly from Game Center. This is certainly a welcomed update as the current version certainly leaves something to be desired.

The update will come packaged with iOS 5 which will be released in the fall of this year. Also in the update is the ability to sync your phone over Wi-Fi and the release of iCloud, which basically replaces MobileMe and allows you to sync your iTunes library to cloud storage and access it on up to 10 devices for free.
