The Chaos Engine gets Restored on PC Platforms

chaos-engine-02

Mastertronic and Abstraction Games are proud to announce that The Chaos Engine, the classic Amiga game originally developed by legendary outfit The Bitmap Brothers is now available for PC, Mac and Linux! The early ‘90s top-down shooter has been fully restored by Abstraction Games who worked closely with one of the founding members of The Bitmap Brothers, Mike Montgomery.

The Chaos Engine is known as being one of the first games to introduce a skill system in the action-adventure genre which allowed players to improve their characters and equip unique weapons. The game includes two modes, one which looks and plays just like the original and an alternative mode with a few extra enhancements such as revamped control options, new graphics and Steam features.

Players battle through four unique worlds as one of six characters in single-player or online and local co-op modes. Mike Montgomery had this to say about the games re-release:

“This really feels like the right time to bring back The Chaos Engine…there are many fond memories of The Chaos Engine and I wanted to make sure that the game was true to the original without losing its charm during the restoration process. The option to play in the original ‘Classic’ mode with the added option to play in ‘Enhanced mode’ with its refined pixel-perfect finish is a clever way to satisfy all enthusiasts! It feels a completely natural transition to the PC.”

If you would like more information on The Chaos Engine you can go to www.chaosenginegame.com. If you’re pumped to try out this classic, you can get the game right now on Steam, Get Games and GOG.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy undergoes a name change in Europe

bravely-default-where-the-fairy-flies-01If you are looking forward to picking up Bravely Default: Flying Fairy in Europe then you may want to double check what the game is going to be called in your region. It has been listed by Nintendo of Europe that the game will instead be called Bravely Default: Where the Fairy Flies, which leaves it with some interesting initials.

Anyway, currently no exact release date has been announced for the Western release of the game except for sometime in 2014 in North America and sometime later this year in Europe. Currently it is unknown if this name change will also be applied to the North American version of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.

Battle Princess of Arcadias extended debut trailer released

Battle-Princess-of-Arcadias-01

Today a new, extended version of Battle Princess of Arcadias’ debut trailer has been released by Nippon Ichi Software. The title is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and since it is being created by NIS it has a very unique looking art style with interesting looking characters and enemies to face off against.

As for the game itself, Battle Princess of Arcadias will feature numerous playable characters, different gameplay modes and will play like a side-scrolling brawler with RPG elements that allow for player leveling, equipment gathering and more. As mentioned before, since Nippon Ichi is developing the title internally, NIS America‘s localization chances are pretty decent since the company almost always localizes internally developed titles.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies price announced alongside new screens

ace-attorney-dual-destinies-august- (1)Today Capcom had quite a bit of news to share with Ace Attorney fans. Not only has the company released some new screenshots, which can be checked out below and bring up the question of whether or not having a falcon attack someone in the court room is legal or not, but they have also given Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies its final price tag in North America and Europe.

As you may already know, Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies is going to be released on the Nintendo 3DS as a digital download only in these regions and it will cost $29.99 in North America and €24.99 in Europe when it is released sometime this fall season. Since many gamers may still be sitting on a $30 credit thanks to a recent Nintendo RPG promotion, this price point seems like an ideal purchase.

DeNA Launches Monster Match Puzzle Adventure Today

Monster-Match-01

Monster Match Puzzle Adventure is a mobile game that was just released by DeNA and was developed by the company’s San Francisco-based game studio. It is a game that mixes both the puzzle and adventure genres to make a game unlike a great deal of others that have been released. It is a game where players are given a monster, or team of monsters, they are to fight other monsters and, once a battle is finished, are able to capture and train those monsters but this isn’t your normal monster-raising game, not one bit. Players will use puzzles to power up their monsters to help in the battle, players can create and battle with different teams of monsters that can be placed strategically to heighten their strength and power. Between that and the power-ups you get from completing puzzles, this game seems fairly high-octane for what it is.

Monster-Match-05

Roger Royce, product leader for Monster Match at DeNA had this to say about the game:

Monster Match is a vibrant game that will appeal to fans of puzzle games and collectors who grew up playing games like Pokemon…We’re excited to bring this fun and entertaining experience to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and Android. The game’s pick-up-and-play accessibility makes it fun for casual players, while deeper puzzle strategies and monster team management offer long-term depth for more engaged players.”

Monster-Match-06

The game is now available, through the app store, for download on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Android users can nab this game through Google Play too, so nobody misses out! You can find links for both the iOS and Android version on their official page here and don’t forget to keep your eye on the site for any and all new information and news that is released. There’s also a nice trailer for the game that you can see down below in our Featured Video section so go take a look at that too!
