Last night during SCEJA’s press conference it was revealed that Spike Chunsoft is working on a new spinoff title for the Danganronpa series called Danganronpa: Another Episode. While details were scarce, the full preview trailer has been uploaded online and can be seen below.
As we can tell from the trailer, the game will play as a third person shooter where players will use megaphone style weapons to fend of Monobear swarms. Interestingly enough, the teaser video also ends with a flickering “and also_3.” message, potentially meaning that a third game in the Danganronpa series is in the works.
As for Danganronpa itself, the anime is currently licensed in North America by FUNimation while NIS America is working on bringing the first game to North American Vita owners as Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.
Today Atlus USA announced that they are planning on releasing a demo for Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl onto the Nintendo 3DS’ eShop next week on September 16th. To go along with this announcement not only did the company release a character profile for Arthur, the game’s alchemist character, but also a new trailer and screenshots focused on the character, all of which can be found below.
Though Arthur is a prodigy when it comes to alchemy, most of the rest of his past is a fog as the result of a traumatic incident that leveled his hometown. Arthur’s never met a problem in the Labyrinth he didn’t want to try to solve with fire, though the player also has the option to spec him out with ice or lightning formulas, if they must.
As the prime elemental damage dealer, Arthur is versatile enough to tackle all the enemies vulnerable to Fire, Ice and Volt magic but with the right Grimoire Stones, he has the utility to be more than a glass cannon if players choose.
It seems that 5pb. is going to keep their Phantom Breaker train rolling as it has been announced that they are currently working on bringing the spin-off to their fighting game, Battle Grounds, to the PlayStation 4 as Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive.
Details are scarce about the game at the moment but it will be an upgraded version of the original game, the review of which can be found here, though no information about what these upgrades will be have been revealed. It will be a downloadable title with online and offline co-op and at the moment, no release date has been announced.
We’ve seen some screenshots and hear a bit about what the enhanced version of the first game in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series will have when it is released on the PlayStation Vita, but until now there has been no footage of the game actually in motion.
Today that changed as Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1‘s first trailer was released by Compile Heart and can be seen below. The trailer focuses on the game’s dungeons, revamped battle system and world map and other enhancements. Currently Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 is set for an October 31st release in Japan, while NIS America has yet to say whether or not they are planning on bringing the remake over to the West.
Last night during the SCEJA Press Conference it was revealed that the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will receive a beta and anyone who owns a copy on the PS3 will be able to access the beta free of charge. The beta will be launched alongside the console which is set to be released in Japan on February 22nd.
To top that off, Square Enix has also revealed that players will also be able to carry over their character data when they transfer from the PS3 version of the game to the PS4. It has also been confirmed that this beta will likely be launched worldwide on that date and will not be limited to Japan.
It seems that we now will be looking towards a new game inspired by the great mind of beloved author H.P. Lovecraft.
Yesterday, Effective Evolutions had announced that KickStarter, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects, are looking for investors and backers to help fund the developmentof the first person horror-adventure ‘U55 – End of the Line’ for PC and next generation consoles.
This game is said to be a classic horror game as the sole focus of ‘U55 – End of the Line’ is survival. Armed with limited resources, the player desperately seeks for help and an exit while traversing through Berlin’s dark and widely ramified subway system. And as tradition of Lovecraft’s work, there are confronting and malevolent forces at play that will inevitably change the fate of mankind once and for all.
The game will be an interesting combination of the new and the old as we see Lovecraft stories played out in a modern-day subway. For those who don’t know, the U55 is a U-Bahn train line in the German capital city of Berlin, so we will see many recreated areas of Berlin, such as the various subway stations, areas of the government district and even the historical underground facilities.
Malte M. Boettcher, U55’s creative director comment on the game, stating “For us, Lovecraft was one of the most important things to begin with … We are going back to everything Lovecraft stands for, putting it into a contemporary video game. Longtime-fans will enjoy the references while newcomers will be gently introduced to one of the greatest sci-fi/fantasy/horror authors of all time. With ‘U55 – End of the Line’ we bring Lovecraft’s legacy to the modern-day urban setting of Berlin, serving horror fans and core gamers alike. We are sure that the mature audience will appreciate our efforts on a game echoing an intense experience. After all, the Great Old Ones must have seen fit that our Kickstarter project will be released just in time – on Lovecraft’s birthday”.
This game is certainly one for the fans of the horror genre as it has been compared with great horror names of Amnesia, Dead Space and Silent Hill, but it will still be awhile to see if the game will be a as dark and great as it is hyped out to be.
Many Australian gamers are getting excited as the EB Expo 2013 is now less than a month away, but even when we are so close to the event, it still gets better.
It is our luck that EB Expo is being held on the same weekend as the Season 3 World Finals of League of Legends Championships 2013. This now means that we get to watch all your favorite Oceanic teams fight on stage at EB Expo.
The event is set up so attendees will be viewing the finals streamed live on to the large screen at the League of Legends area from midday on the Saturday of the Expo. The actual finals are held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It will be fun for all, as the new Riot section of the expedition will also be running community games all weekend, giving everyone a chance to win some cool League of Legends Prizes.
I for one, will not be missing out on the spectacle and action and with general admissions tickets still available, I hope to see you there.
The Evil Within isn’t due to come out until next year, but it still had something to show off at Tokyo Game Show 2013. Coming from publisher Bethesda and developer Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within is a survival horror game from the father of the genre Shinji Mikami, which the trailer released at TGS makes sure to point out.
While in fact titled Psycho Break over in Japan, the difference in name doesn’t change how unsettling the video depicts the game as, starting off at a crime scene with police cars, but no officers or weapons in sight. From there the video flashes through a whole host of scenes with the main character avoiding and witnessing a number of unnerving situations, even including that horrifying woman spider from the last bout of screenshots.
Those wanting to see the footage from The Evil Within video can find it embedded below. The Evil Within is currently set to release sometime in 2014.
Gran Turismo 6 made a showing at Tokyo Game Show this year at the SCEJ Press Conference. The Polyphony Digital developed and Sony published game made a point of letting players know that the game is being crafted with as love as the fans wanting to get their hands on it.
The Gran Turismo 6 trailer showed off both the vast multitude of car manufactures available in the game and shots of the car themselves speeding through the courses. The cars are looking as good as ever and certainly more realistic, but as they have been doing this for a while hopefully they would know how to keep it going.
Be sure to check out the trailer embedded below to see the manufactures players can start wanting the cars for and see the cars in action before Gran Turismo 6 releasing in Japan on December 5th, 2013, with a worldwide release the day after on December 6th only for PS3.
