Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster at the Tokyo Game Show, showcasing more story, music and battles. You can check it out below.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is coming out on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita this winter, with an exact date that’s yet to be confirmed for either Japan or the West. A limited edition PS Vita 2000 model is being released in Japan to celebrate the game’s debut, but like every game-branded Vita so far it’s unlikely to ever be released in the West.

However, the collection is being split into two separate games for the PS Vita. In case you missed it, here’s the Music Battle trailer released earlier.

shin-dynasty-warriors-gundam-unicorn

A set of screenshots have been posted by Famitsu for Shin Dynasty Warriors Gundam, or Shin Gundam Musou as it’s known in Japan. The graphics have been overhauled by dropping the cel-shaded style used in the previous game, Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3. Instead, a more realistic look has been given to the game with visible dirt seen on the mobile suits.

The latest entry to the series also brings back Official Mode, where you can play through the stories of various Gundam anime shows, along with original story lines included in Ultimate Mode.

As a first, players can summon battleships using the Combination Burst feature along with the ability to pilot large Mobile Armours.

Over 100 Mobile Suits can be used in the game, making it the most comprehensive Dynasty Warriors Gundam game yet. You can bet your favourite suits will be included.

The game will be available in Japan on December 19 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Namco Bandai are yet to announce a Western release. Be sure to check out Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS. Full Boost for more Gundam goodness.

Frank’s Fall 2013 Anime Picks

Frank's Fall 2013 Anime Picks
Frank’s Fall 2013 Anime Picks

Hello once again! I’m back, like all of the other Capsule Computers Anime staff, to list my most anticipated Anime Series’ from the next season which, this time around, happens to be the Fall season! There are a great deal of fantastic-looking titles out there and I’m a bit annoyed that I’m not some sort of “time wizard” because if I was I’d be able to watch a lot more of these series’. Even though I’ve only picked a few out of the massive list of releases, I’m fairly confident in my choices and I really do think these titles are going to come out on top. Anyway, let’s move on to the list shall we?

 Ace Of Diamond

Ace Of Diamond
Ace Of Diamond

Now I’m not a very big sports fan at all but there is one sport I do like and that’s Baseball, God knows why, I just like it a whole bunch and I also really like Anime, if you couldn’t already tell, so when these two things come together you can bet your arse I’m going to be really into it. The story of Ace of Diamond centres around a boy named Eijun Swamura who is a big fan of baseball as-well-as a pretty good player, the kid leaves his country-town school to attend the “Catcher’s High School” where he teams up with a bunch of other Baseball players/fanatics and they make a team. Eijun has a very funny quirk, considering he has no formal training in the sport it seems as though his pitching style is a little bit wacky, to say the least. He seems to be able to change the direction of the ball just before it hits the bat so that the fielders can’t really determine where the ball will end up, that’s a real interesting quirk. The story follows him and his, let’s say, “baseball career”. The animation looks really good and I think it’s going to be a home-run! Oh yes! I just said it!

Yozakura Quartet – Hana No Uta –

Yozakura Quartet
Yozakura Quartet – Hana No Uta –

This Anime was actually only brought to my attention today but I looked it up after I hear about it and…it looks pretty damn good. The animation and art style look great and they’re right up my alley! It’s basically about a team of young girls, and one guy, who fight supernatural apparitions around town. They had me at “supernatural” but I’m actually more interested in the art style and the animation of the series, the characters look like they’re designed well, the development team look like they’ve put a lot of time and effort into making this Anime have some of the best looking animation and in the day and age we live in, that’s really all I want to see: Awesome animation, even more awesome fight scenes, cute teenage girls fighting the supernatural. What else could you honestly want from an Anime? Maybe a giant demon fish? Oh they have that? Well then I guess it’s perfect.

Kill La Kill

Kill La Kill
Kill La Kill

If you havn’t heard of Kill La Kill by now, I’m sorry but we can no longer be friend…ok fine, I’ve already forgiven you so let me lay it down: Basically the team that made Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann have dusted off their Graphics Tablets and massive computer monitors and have gone ahead and made Kill La Kill which is about a girl named Ryuko Matoi who transfers to a new school and it seems like this new school is run by Satsuki Kiryuin who runs it with an iron fist. Her and her posse use these crazy powered school uniforms to fight but Ryuko doesn’t seem to have one…yet! One day Ryuko comes across Senketsu who is a possessed sailor fuku which gives her special abilities, not to mention she’s pretty hand with a sword…or, well, half a pair of giant scissors. She carries around a single red scissor blade, it’s about the size of a sword, and she’s searching for the wielder of the other half who, unfortunetely, killed her Dad. This is going to be full of action and fighting and it’s going to just ooze style and humour much like Gurren Lagann. As a fan of Gurren Lagann and series’ about teenagers who beat up on each other in schools I’m real excited for this, soon to be, masterpiece.

Pokemon X and Y The Series

Pokemon X and Y Anime
Pokemon X and Y Anime

Now I really don’t have to say too much about this pick because it’s kind of obvious and, really, it’s kind of self explanatory…but I’m going to anyway! It doesn’t matter how old we get, if you were a Pokemon fan, chances are you’re still a Pokemon fan and even though I ditched the Anime series a long time ago I’m actually willing to give it another crack. Let’s be honest, if it follows the path of it’s Anime predecessors I’ll drop it almost instantly BUT if it decides to follow the path of it’s cousins, the Pokemon Games, and rules…this is going to be incredible. To see the new generation of Pokemon in action will be a really cool sight, once again, I just hope they animate the series better and win back a lot of the older viewers that they’ve lost over time, still, it is one of my picks so I’ll stay as positive as possible.

Valvrave The Liberator Season 2

Valvrave The Liberator Season 2
Valvrave The Liberator Season 2

This Anime made it’s début about two seasons ago and it made a lasting impact, with incredible-looking mechs and even better looking animation it was a tough one to beat. The first season finished in a super climactic way and I’ve got high hopes in the fact that season two is going to be just as climactic. I’m a big fan of mechs and a big fan of banchos and this series has both of those things so it already makes it onto my list, disregard the fact that I already watched the first series and loved it. I’m going to assume the majority of you know what the series is about because it really is a crowd favourite, for those who don’t basically it is set in the future where there is three different, let’s say, “armies” or “factions” that live out in space, one day one of the factions decides to attack the other and Haruto, a school boy, finds himself in a situation where he can pilot a mech and save his faction or die along with a lot of his schoolmates…guess which one he chooses. The series is a lot more in depth than that but hopefully that was just enough to get you interested enough for you to look it up in more depth.

Hajime No Ippo – The Rising –

Hajime No Ippo - The Rising -
Hajime No Ippo – The Rising –

Another sports Anime on my list and this time it’s about a more deadly sport: The sport of  boxing. Hajime No Ippo: New Challenger was one of my favourite Anime series’ in highschool and a lot of memories come with re-watching the series so you can see why I’m so excited to see the next part of the series being released. It’s about Ippo and his boxing friends as they train and fight to be the best boxers they can be. the story is very basic but it’s more the actual action and the connection between two characters that the Anime seems to focus on. They each have their rivals and they each have their enemies and basically every season focuses on a few big fights they they must train for and, hopefully, win. This Anime is going to be everything but boring and I’m so ready to see some incredible boxing action. The characters are tough, the animation is fluid-like and it’s just an all round good-looking series. Get in the ring, guys! Oh! I did it again!

Deep Down TGS 2013 Trailer, Gameplay Released

Deep-Down-screen-09

Capcom has released the Tokyo Game Show trailer for its PlayStation 4 exclusive, Deep Down. The trailer features the game’s intriguing voice acting, beautiful music and a glimpse of the futuristic elements that underlie the story.

Deep Down was also live streamed during a gameplay demo, showing off the game’s combat, UI and controls as the player goes through a dungeon. Check them out below.

The online RPG is almost looking like a polished Dark Souls mixed with Assassin’s Creed’s modern and mysterious atmosphere. Sets of screenshots were released earlier here and here.

NHL 14 Review

nhl-14-box-art
NHL 14
Developer: EA Canada
Publisher: EA
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 (Reviewed)
Release Date: September 10, 2013
Price: $59.99 – Available Here

Overview
Creating a yearly sports game is a difficult task. Change too much and you may ruin what made the last iteration of the series enjoyable. Change too little and fans will be distraught that the game is too similar to last year’s, except with an updated roster. While sports fans are generally hard to please, EA’s NHL series has consistently delivered impressive titles over the last few years, and now that NHL 14 has been released with a few new improvements, does it manage to improve on what was found in NHL 13 without going overboard?

Gameplay
In many ways, NHL 14 feels like the same game as NHL 13 but not in a bad way. The various skating mechanics and new physics engine introduced in last year’s game have been improved and tuned up for this year’s release with a number of improvements across the board, including some more intelligent AI for the opposing teams’ members which allows them to react more realistically to the player’s attempts to skate past them and score goals.

NHL-14-Review- (1)

Right when players begin the game they are given a ‘hospitality setting’ system to choose from where they can select their style of play and what they expect from the game, which adjust various meters within the game ahead of time and can be adjusted at any time. These settings can make the game anything from a hardcore simulator for real life hockey or something with huge hits, amazing saves and shots and more, giving new players an easy way to adjust the game’s settings to match their style with only a few presses of the button.

Outside of some new stick handling tricks, such as a one button deke system that makes for easier deking when trying to pass a defender or trick a goalie out of his skates, most of the gameplay changes in NHL 14 are focused around the checking and fighting systems. Taking advantage of the addition of physics from last year, NHL 14 now has a new way to check other players. While they can still use the hit stick to level an opposing player, they can also do so simply by skating right into them.

NHL-14-Review- (2)

This means that there are times you can line a player up just right and absolutely level him, leaving the commentators remarking about how you nearly took his head off with that hit. Of course thanks to the physics system, big hits require proper timing and proper players, a small bump or a smaller player may even send your player to the ground instead. It also is worth noting that it is entirely possible to simply just miss entirely with a hit, leaving you skating into the boards or leaving the player a wide open passing lane.

With the new checking system also comes a new aggression system where big hits will result in some big fights. Over the past few years, every NHL fight has been portrayed in some terrible first person mode and fights often happened randomly. Now if you manage to deliver a huge check to a star player, slash at the goalie after a play or pretty much anything that might tick off a real life enforcer in hockey, you will have a fight on your hands.

NHL-14-Review- (5)

Fights happen more organically than before, sometimes happening at the drop of a hat… well gloves to be precise. An opposing player will skate up to your player, or even a teammate, and begin shoving or instigating a fight that, when accepted, backs the camera out and gives the players free reign of a third person fight. The actual fighting remains a bit clunky, as players simply throw jabs and uppercuts with the right stick, dodge with triggers and pull their opponent with the left stick.

If you don’t happen to be in the fight you can simply stand there and watch, or scuffle with another player on the ice and tussle with each other, not actually fight however, as the main fight plays out. It is also worth noting that it is also easier than ever to instigate a fight, as a prompt will appear if one of your teammates happened to take a major hit, got injured or something else happened and you can pressing the prompt will send your player skating over, gloves off and ready to fight.

NHL-14-Review- (3)

The fighting system, while nice, seems to trigger fights a bit too often. At the default setting, fights will often happen once or twice a period with even the smallest of things causing the gloves to come off and there are many times, you may not even be able to avoid the fight. Other times however it simply ends with one player shoving the other or sticking their glove in the other’s face.

Outside of the gameplay itself, a new mode has been added and another, while touted as brand new, is a revamped version of Be a Player. Now called ‘Live the Life’ players will take on the role of a hockey player that can either immediately be part of the team, or work their way up from the CHL and be drafted into the AHL/NHL. While this is all the same as before, it is now expanded a bit thanks to various off-ice events where you must answer interview questions, interact with fans, teammates and management, all trying to find a balance between being popular and successful without pissing off your team and family. Doing so can see various rewards, such as higher stats, more time on the ice, less chances of being bumped down to the AHL or traded and other things. It still is a bit bare bones compared to other Be a Pro modes found from EA, but it is certainly a nice improvement.

NHL-14-Review- (4)

Also included this time around is an NHL ’94 mode which gives the players fast paced and rule free hockey similar to what was found back when NHL ’94 was released twenty years ago. It is a nice way to spend time and enjoy the game, and a great way to have fun in local co-op. It is unfortunate that EA did not give ’94 an online component, as the online remains as impressive as ever with only a little bit of lag here and there and this is clearly a missed opportunity.

Visuals
The attention to detail in NHL 14 remains as impressive as what was found in NHL 13, with many players looking close to their real life counterparts. Thanks to the fighting refinements it is also entirely possible to end up with black eyes, broken looking noses and swelling in various spots of the face after a fight, sometimes even after a big hit is enough to leave a player looking ragged.

NHL-14-Review- (7)

Ice degradation and the stadiums continue to impress and some of the hits players can lay on each other is absolutely devastating at times thanks to the fine tuning of the physics engine and the way that checking has been refined this time around.

Audio
The commentary found in NHL 14 remains some of the best in the sports genre as the commentators will almost always accurately call action as it happens and are capable of even giving play by play with the actual names of the players, and I don’t mean only stars like Patrick Kane, but all of them even a few in the CHL.

NHL-14-Review- (6)

The game comes with a number of new songs this year and all of which fit the atmosphere of hockey nicely as they play between puck drops and at the menu screens. Add this to the atmospheric sounds found in any hockey rink in the nation and NHL 14 continues to sound like a realistic arena.

Overall
EA Sports has found some nice ice to skate on with NHL 14 as it continues to improve and refine what was found in NHL 13 while also expanding on its gameplay options. Checking and fights have been revamped, although fights do seem to happen far too often and can drag on at times and outside of the slightly upgraded Be a Pro and ’94 mode, little else has been added. While not a major jump from last year’s game, NHL 14 does offer a better, more physical experience, though that tends not to be for everyone.

Attack On Titan: The Last Wings – More Screenshots Released

Attack-On-Titan-01

The Attack On Titan 3DS game, The Last Wings, has been getting a lot of attention from Attack On Titan fans and Anime fans in general and, even though we don’t know a great deal about it, I believe people are very interested and very much anticipating it’s release which happens to be in December of this year. Well a fair few screenshots of the game were just released and, while they lack a bit of that Attack On Titan “Umph”, they’re looking pretty good. It was also announced that, in the game, you can choose to play Eren’s, Mikasa’s and Armin’s story. Within those selections you play as the character and take on their roles throughout the series of which it is based off of. There is also a four-player multi-player section of the game where characters are unique and customisable, that should be a great deal of fun! You can see the screenshots that have been released below in our Gallery Section and don’t forget to hit up our comments section below that to let us know what you think of this new game.

JJBA: All Star Battle Adds Old Joseph and Lisa Lisa as DLC

"Get in, Nerd! We're going DLC shopping."
“Get in, Nerd! We’re going DLC shopping.”

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has been out for a few weeks now and, yes, people are absolutely loving the all out action…people in Japan that is, there’s no sign of it having a release anywhere outside of the land of the rising sun just yet but I’m hoping it will be soon. Anyway, on to the actual news: It was just announced only yesterday that Old Joseph Joestar and Lisa Lisa have been released as DLC, their download will come with a small campaign which I can assume revolves around them and allows you to unlock them.

JJBA-ASB-Joseph-and-lisa-lisa-01

It was also announced that the characters Narciso Anasui and Vanilla Ice, from JJBA, will also be added as DLC characters as well as a character named Ikuro Hashizawa who is not from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure but from Hirohiko Araki’s previous Manga series called BAOH. I find that really cool and very interesting, just like how you could be Lars Alexanderson in one of the recent Naruto games just because Masashi Kishimoto came up with a costume design for Tekken. This game will continue getting DLC within the coming months, at least that’s what I think, so stick around for any news and information to come out of this release.

Kill La Kill, Valvrave Season 2 – English-Subbed Trailers Released

Kill-La-kill-01

Everything is, kind of, happening at once right now! We’re getting so close to the next season of Anime and some licenses have already been picked up, not only that put today Aniplex USA has released, like I said in the title, a subtitled trailer for both Kill La Kill and Valvrave Season 2! The series was also just picked up by Australian Anime Distributor, Madman, and will be streaming it through their Madman Screening Room starting on the 3rd of October and it will be streamed on the “day and date” that it will be released in Japan. I’m very excited for both of these series’, as is every other Anime fan. Not only have these trailers been released but Aniplex also announced that Kill La Kill, Valvrave The Liberator Season 2 and Magi: The Kingdom of Magic will be streamed on four different sites and streaming services: Daisuke, Crunchyroll, Hulu and their very own Aniplex Channel will all stream these three series’ through their whole run as they are released.

valvrave-the-liberator-01

It’s some incredible news that will surely make Anime fans scream in delight! It is set to be an incredible season of Anime, possibly even better and more climactic than the last! Two New Videos Released For Pokemon X and Y

Pokemon-X-and-y-Commercial-01

Both the Japanese side of Nintendo and the Western side have released a video for Pokemon X and Y, here we are coming into the final stretch and we still continue to get more and more from the franchise. These videos are a little bit different to the ones we’ve seen in the past. The first I want to talk about is the Japanese Trailer Video, while no new information or footage has been released within this trailer, it HAS given us a really big overview of everything we’ve seen so far. It shows us Mega Evolutions, full character customisation, some of the new-released Pokemon, etc. It is a basically a trailer that brings all the information we’ve been given into one, nice, little package. That trailer can be seen just below this paragraph:

The second video that has been released is an English Commercial which Nintendo has started streaming. It actually only shows a small part of the gameplay but that’s not what this video focuses on. The video mixes live action and CGI, showing real people with animated Pokemon in locations all around the world. The video is clever because each of the people talking have slightly different accents and are shown to be somewhere different in every shot, clearly this is meant to represent the games worldwide release which is a big deal because a Pokemon game has never been released worldwide on the same date ever before. It’s quirky and interesting and you can check out this video in the Featured Video Section just below this article. Start getting excited because Pokemon X and Y are set for release on October the 12th which isn’t too far away!
