Revolution Software has confirmed that Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse will release worldwide for PC on December 4th. In addition, the developer has revealed that this Broken Sword adventure will, unlike any before, run over two episodes, concluding in January 2014. The game set crowdfunding records for a UK-developed game back in September 2012, when it raised $850,000 from 15,000 backers on Kickstarter. Those that pledged to receive a PC, Mac, or Linux copy of the game will get each episode as it become available.

When a mysterious painting is stolen during an armed raid on a Paris gallery, intrepid lawyer George Stobbart and feisty journalist Nico Collard are thrown, seemingly by chance, into the investigation together. From Paris to London and beyond, the trail becomes a race against time as dark forces from Europe’s turbulent past are woken from their slumber. Broken Sword characters old and new are encountered—but who can George and Nico trust? Their journey reveals a conspiracy as old as the written word, whose ancient heresies will cause innocent blood to spill once more…

The title has reunited key members from the Broken Sword team, with layout artists from studios such as Disney, Aardman, and Universal creating classically drawn backgrounds. The rich, lavish HD graphics evolve the art-style so loved in the previous Broken Sword games to a new level.

Charles Cecil, Founder & CEO, Revolution Software said:

“Whilst this is very much a classic Broken Sword game in terms of production values and sense of adventure, we’re really breaking new ground with The Serpent’s Curse. The success of our Kickstarter appeal has allowed us to be hugely ambitious—each episode is a full sized game in its own right. So we will be publishing two action-packed adventures in close succession. The early response to the game has been hugely positive with some suggesting this is the best Broken Sword yet.”

Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse – Episode One will debut on PC, Mac and Linux through Steam, GOG.com, and Revolution’s own website store, with a PlayStation Vita version to follow later in the month. The concluding episode of the game will be published on PC in January 2014. iOS and Android versions are also set to release shortly after each PC episode. Episode One will tentatively sell for $14.99 or $24.99 if both episodes are purchased together, though a dual pre-order will net you 20% off.

Armed only with logic, integrity, and a wry sense of humor, can George and Nico outwit evil forces both ancient and modern and save mankind from disaster? From a Curse forged by the Devil himself?

PlayStation 4 Offers Up Four More Videos Before Launch

Sony kicked off this week with two new videos on the PlayStation 4 to prepare for the imminent release of the console next week on Friday. Those videos didn’t give much to go on however, more or less just showing off the console itself, but that seems to have changed with the videos being offered today. These new videos all go one step deeper into more than just the console, but the controller and the games as well particularly in the first video that focuses on the controller itself, which can be found just below.

While the first video does have a little bit on some of the games that will be coming on PS4, it was more about how the controller lets players interact in the games. Which is probably why the second video that Sony released today is solely about the games themselves and how the console affords much more to the developers to create in the games. Hear what the devs have to say in the video below.

The games coming for PS4 aren’t just about the developers either, which is why the third video shows off all about the exclusives that the PlayStation 4 will be getting for its games. From exclusives in games like Watch_Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV, to games coming first to PS4 and those that will only be on PS4. Check them all out in the video just below.

The final video that Sony has released is about what PS Vita owners will be able to enjoy thanks to the power of Remote Play. Pause the PS4 and pick up where was left off on the PS Vita, allowing for a truly portable extension to what the PlayStation 4 has to offer, something that only the PlayStation brand seems able to offer right now. Be sure to see how it works in the video below.

Rambo The Video Game Unloads a Gameplay Trailer

Rambo The Video Game is on its way lurking just out of eyesight for the perfect moment to strike and Reef Entertainment has just released a show of force that fits the game just right. The newest trailer that has surfaced has a whole heap of gun fighting and brawling.

The gameplay trailer shows off scenes from each movie in turn from the woods and city of First Blood to the war zones of 2 and 3. Rambo The Video Game looks to capture everything that Rambo is all about including blasting enemies to pieces with his M60 and raining down missiles from a helicopter. Hopefully everything one could want from a shooter game based on such a well known property.

The gameplay trailer is embedded below for anyone wanting to see how the movies will be translating to the game. Rambo The Video Game is set to release in early 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC those still looking to receive the limited edition figure bonus can still pre-order the game now.

Soren Johnson Forms Independent Studio: Mohawk Games

Soren Johnson Forms Independent Studio: Mohawk Games
– Veteran designer of Civilization IV fame puts gameplay first with new company –

BALTIMORE, MD – NOVEMBER 5, 2013 – Game industry veteran and Civilization IV lead designer Soren Johnson announces the creation of a new independent studio dedicated to building core strategy games, Mohawk Games. Johnson is joined by co-founder Dorian Newcomb, winner of a prestigious BAFTA award for his work as art director of Civilization V and Brad Wardell, the designer of the Galactic Civilizations series. Johnson will serve as Mohawk’s CEO while co-founder Brad Wardell serves as the studio’s president, handling day-to-day business operations.

Financed by the Stardock Strategic Investment Fund, Mohawk is currently recruiting top game industry talent for the Baltimore-based studio. The company has already begun development on its first title, codenamed Mars, which runs on Oxide Games’ recently announced Nitrous engine.

“Mohawk puts gameplay first,” said Soren Johnson. “Our goal is to make games that will be played for years, based on elegant, replayable systems that are not limited by finite content creation. Our development process emphasizes rapid iteration above all else, requiring our games to be playable as soon as possible so that we have time to find the fun.”

Johnson espouses Mohawk’s core philosophies in the inaugural post (http://mohawkgames.com/2013/11/04/introducing-mowhawk-games/) on the studio’s blog, including ongoing community involvement, early access programs, and extensive mod support. “Games cannot grow in a vacuum, without the oxygen of player feedback. Indeed, communities often understand games better than the designers themselves,” Johnson writes.

Johnson believes that the time is right to found Mohawk Games. “We are living in the age of the independent game studio – never before have the development tools been so powerful, the distribution channels so accessible, and open development so valuable,” he said.
