New Miiverse Features Detailed for the Wii U; 3DS Version Approaches

miiverse-logo-02

Remember when Nintendo announced that the Miiverse was coming to the 3DS? Well, we have been quite ready to say the least about the successful Wii U social network’s big jump, and Nintendo apparently are as well as today a few new details have surfaced for a new update for the console version, explaining some of the features users can expect when that download finishes. Yeah, not exactly the 3DS version, but it does paint a picture for those of you who only have a 3DS and are eagerly awaiting your own fix.

Those details are as follows:

1. New display options in the community list
You can now display more communities at once, with the newest communities displayed first. You can also use a filter to display communities based on categories such as “Wii U software”, “Virtual Console” and so on.

2. A change to the profile page

Your profile no longer displays the total number of Yeahs you have given. However, you can still see the number of Yeahs on individual posts.

3. A change to the default display setting within a community

Until now, when you entered a community, the newest posts were displayed first. From now on, posts by people who have played the game will be displayed by default.

Sure, the 3DS’ eShop is and has been on fire for a while, but this element of socialization may be the ticket to bring the handheld to a brand new audience. While this update is available for the Wii U now, the Miiverse for the 3DS hits the platform in December, so stay tuned for further updates on that as the month rolls on.

Young Justice: Legacy Out Now

young-justice-legacy-screenshot-01

Following the exploits of Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis, Young Justice was easily one of the greatest Superhero cartoons to grave TV screens since the 90s  Batman: The Animated Series. Young Justice was mature, had compelling story lines and an absolutely killer art style. Sadly, its time was short only lasting 2 seasons before being pulled from the air and leaving fans everywhere clammoring for more.

young-justice-legacy-screenshot-02Well now you can have more! No, sadly I don’t mean a third season of the show but instead we get the next best thing; a Video Game. Young Justice: Legacy developed by Little Orbit and published by Namco Bandai aims to fill the gap between the first two seasons of the show. You will be able to team up famous heroes and side-kicks from both of the show’s teams, including Nightwing, Robin, Superboy and many more against a slew of diabolical villains. The game also stays as true to the series as it can, even bringing back the voice cast that helped make it great (this includes Mr. Nolan North himself reprising his role as Superboy).

You can get your hands on Young Justice: Legacy today on X360, PS3, Wii U, 3DS and PC, so be sure to throw on your cape and cowl and head on down to pick up your copy. Were you a fan of Young Justice? Did you think it ended too prematurely and do you think this game will be a good replacement? Let us know in the comments below, and always remember to stay tuned to Capsule Computers for all the Young Justice news as it becomes available.

New Anchorman 2 Clip Has Ron Burgundy Questioning Himself?!

Anchorman2-Pic-01

“Oh my God!… He’s absolutely magnificent!” Looks like Ron Burgundy has a man crush! Paramount Pictures have released a new Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues clip, and in it, the mustachioed one has a rather embarrassing face to face with another anchor.

He, along with Brick (Steve Carell), Brian (Paul Rudd) and Champ (David Koechner) are introduced to their fellow GNN news teams when Ron locks eyes with the best in the biz, Jack Lime (James Marsden), who proceeds to make a mockery of Ron and his voice, leading him to ask “Is that what I sound like?!”. Didn’t help that his “friends” joined in on the teasing. Watch the clip embedded below, and check out the just recently unveiled 2nd batch of character posters.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues comes out December 19 nationwide.

marie-rose-dead-or-alive-5-ultimate- (4)

Over the past couple of weeks a new character for Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate was announced for the Arcade version of the game and then it was revealed she would eventually be patched into the home release of the game in Japan.

Since then, fans of the game in the West have wondered whether or not the character would be appearing in the English version of the game as well. Well, Tecmo Koei has answered these fans on Facebook by saying:

Fighters! We see that you’ve discovered our newest character, Marie Rose for the upcoming Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade. Although this game is a JP exclusive title, we haven’t forgotten about our overseas fighters in the West. We hope to provide you guys with more information in the near future. But in the meantime, we appreciate your continued support for DOA5 Ultimate. Thanks fighters!

While this is far from a confirmation of the company’s plans, one can infer that the company will be releasing her as a patch sometime after she is patched into the Japanese version of the game.

Game Masters: The Exhibition coming to Sydney

game-masters-exhibition-04

Gamers around the world have often hotly debated the topic of are Video Games art? The response you might give to this sort of question is often based on what you consider to be inspiring, memorable or thought-provoking.  In the history of the industry, I’m sure everyone has at least one title or franchise that has stood out to them as a work of art, for graphics, story or otherwise. But you never really see much in the way of an appreciation of this, especially in Australia, where the industry is still budding. The Game Masters Exhibition sets out to change this.

If you haven’t yet heard of it yet, Game Masters is an internationally renowned exhibition that celebrates the work of some of the biggest names in gaming, from Hideo Kojima, to Tim Schafer, to Peter Molyneux to Yuji Naka. The event, sponsored by the Australian Centre for Moving Images (ACMI), will showcase some of the biggest video games and development memorabilia from the past 30 years.

game-masters-exhibition-02

The exhibit itself will feature hundreds of playable console, arcade and mobile ports of the biggest video games from the early 80’s up until the modern day. The exhibit will also showcase unseen and rare concept art, exclusive interviews with game designers and interactive and informative displays highlighting the development process. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in the creation process of legendary titles like Mario, Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, Metal Gear Solid, and many more, then attending this exhibit should be a no brainer. The exhibit is advertised to be divided into three sections:

  • Arcade Heroes, which will look at the pioneering games of the arcade-age of the 80’s.
  • Game Changers, which celebrate and showcases the big titles, innovations and leap forwards that defined the future direction of the industry.
  • Indies, which highlights the increasing popularity and role of independent game development in the modern market.

As you probably read in the title of this article, the Game Masters Exhibition will indeed be heading to Sydney during the upcoming holiday period. On show at the Sydney Powerhouse Museum from the 13th of December 2013 until the 25th of May 2014, there’s plenty of time to get around to check out the exhibit. This will be a big event to cap of a pretty big year in Australian gaming culture.

game-masters-exhibition-03

Any self-respecting gaming fan should make an effort to check it out. The exhibit highlights not only the great gaming achievements of the past, but also raises awareness of the gaming medium as an increasingly popular art form and element of our popular culture. I would encourage you to check it out for yourself if you can, to show your support for the industry in Australia, and to have a fun time doing it.
