Dive Into Particle Physics with ‘Particulars’

A new puzzle game is making its way to Steam’s Early Access called Particulars, blending science, offbeat storytelling and arcade-action gameplay. Check out the trailer and screenshots below.

Developed by the Aussie based SeeThrough Studios, Particulars is set in the surreal world of subatomic particles where players take control of a single quark that must find its way through the universe. Other particles push and pull on you, risking destruction, while the story of a young physicist named Alison is unravelled.

The indie title has won multiple awards including Best Narrative and Best Audio Design at Freeplay 2013 as well as Best Game at Sydney iFEST 2013.

Here’s the game’s proposed feature list:

Those that want in on the early access can buy Basic for $9.99 which includes Alpha access and the full game once completed or Supporter for $19.99 which adds a soundtrack, wallpapers and digital art book. If you’re devoted you can buy the Devotee pack which adds even more including in-game developer commentary, a collection of the developer’s earlier games and a special thanks in the credits.

Particulars is due for a full release in Q1 2014 for the PC, Mac and Linux platforms with tablet versions to follow after.

Neverwinter’s Module 2: Shadowmantle has Gone Live

Perfect World Entertainment Inc. and Cryptic Studios recently released Module 2: Shadowmantle, a new update for Dungeons and Dragons: Neverwinter, our review of the vanilla version of the game can be found here. The update introduces a large amount of features and changes that is sure to entice old and new players alike.

  • The Hunter Ranger class has been released, giving players the chance to roll a new playable class whose skill with a bow and dual-wield blades can deliver a quick kill from anywhere on the battlefield.
  • A Hunter Ranger Booster Pack has been introduced, providing budding Hunter Rangers with the necessary gear and tools to kick off their adventure.
  • A new adventure zone has been added to the game. The “Dread Ring” sets players against entirely new foes and leads them to Valindra’s Tower, a new dungeon delve that will bring adventurers face-to-face with Valindra Shadowmantle.
  • New bonus stats that players get when they have an active companion out and about.
  • New collection system that helps players track their loot and what they’re missing from completing their gear sets.
  • New Paragon Paths have been implemented for every playable class, introducing new skills and builds into the game.
  • Artifacts have been added to Neverwinter. Artifacts are permanent items that you level with your character, providing powerful bonuses and stats to the character.
  • Changes and improvements to the fusing system in Neverwinter.

Gran Turismo 6 Now Available In Australia

Sony Computer Entertainment are very excited to announce the release of Gran Turismo 6, the latest in the franchise’s line of high-quality racing games, in stores all across Australia. Fans can start revving their engines in anticipation of one of the greatest driving game experiences to ever be released. Gran Turismo 6 boasts over 1200 raceable cars within the game as well as the choice to race on some of the worlds most famous circuits including Australia’s very own Mount Panorama. With a highly-improved physics engine and suspension models, Gran Turismo 6 is definitely a great big step forward for the racing game genre. Smartphones and Tablets will also be thrown into the gaming mix with a whole new level of connectivity that, up until now, has really never been utilised.

To coincide with the games Australian release, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia in conjunction with the City of Bathurst have unveiled “Gran Turismo Drive”. Shane Jacobson, who you may know from Top Gear Australia, alongside the Mayor of Bathurst have headed this little unveiling and share the excitement of all Aussie racing fans who are raring to experience the twists and turns of Mount Panorama in all its glory without even having to leave their living rooms. Shane Jacobson himself had this to say: “To know now that there are going to be people driving on Bathurst, it’s been our dream as Australian motorsport fans and now the world gets to realise it”.

Gran Turismo 6 is now available throughout Australia for the PlayStation 3 and can be purchased at any good video game retailer. Racing fans can choose to purchase the standard version of the game which will sell for $99.95 or the GT6 Anniversary Edition which will come with everything you can see in the above image and will sell for $114.95. Ron Burgundy Takes the Job in New Anchorman 2 Clip

“No offense, but you are stupid.” Only Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) can get away with saying this to a man’s face… well, perhaps GNN news producer Freddy Schap (Dylan Baker) is the only guy who would take it!

In the new Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues clip released by Paramount Pictures entitled “I’ll Take The Job”embedded at the bottom of this article – the great anchor is given a proposal that he initially laughs off, until he sees the cashola! Cha-ching! Ron’s obviously all about making that money. And so what seemed like a ridiculous idea – a 24-hour news station – has now become part of Ron’s reality. Bravely Default Character Designer Akihiko Yoshida leaves Square Enix

The main character designer for the 3DS RPG game Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, Akihiko Yoshida, has announced his departure from Square Enix. Yoshida has committed 18 years of amazing design work for the Japanese company. His contributions span a multitude of games since joining Square Soft in 1995, including titles such as Vagrant Story, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII. His departure was announced in a message contained in The Art of Bravely, the official art book for Square Enix’s Bravely Default.

“This is a personal message of mine, but I’d like to say thank you for all the support these past 18 years. I have decided to leave Square Enix, but I believe our relationship will continue going on.

And as long as I’m needed [laughs,] I will continue working on the Bravely Default series. Thank you for your continued support.

Akihiko Yoshida was currently working on the game’s sequel, Bravely Second, however, Square Enix is yet to confirm if he will continue working on the game. Western versions of the game are set to release this year on October 6 and October 7 in Europe and Australia respectively and February 7, 2014 for North America.

Wooden Sen’Sey Now Available on Steam for Purchase

Wooden Sen’Sey, action-platformer is now available for purchase on Steam, and to celebrate, you can get it here for 20% off for a limited time only. The game was developed by Upper Byte, a small French indie studio manned by two men and a coffee machine.

Set in a unique “Japan Steam Rock” universe, the game flaunts exciting gameplay and beautiful 3D graphics. You play as Goro, a village chief in charge of keeping his villagers happy, but when they run out of SeY juice, the villagers become grumpy. It is Goro’s task to defeat the baddies around his village and to collect SeY juice for his people. Wielding his sword and grappling hook, he seeks SeY juice to return his villagers back to their old, happy selves.

The game offers a different gaming experience to players that try out Wooden Sen’Sey. The game integrates classic platforming mechanics with new unique twists into the gameplay, creating an unforgettable experience as you battle your way through the different levels.

Fire Emblem Characters To Appear In Monster Hunter Frontier G

The Monster Hunter franchise has really gone crazy with the collaborations lately. In the past few months we’ve reported on news about Monster Hunter joining up with series’ such as Mario, The Legend of Zelda and even the Anime Silver Spoon for what seems like a hot pot of crazy cameos and outer-series appearances, well the people over at Capcom have just announced that they have plans for there to be a Fire Emblem Awakening addition to the online monster-fighting game; Monster Hunter Frontier G.

Yes it’s true, Chrom and Lucina will be making an appearance as costumes for your Hunters to wear as they take down anything that stands in their way. While Monster Hunter Frontier G has already been released on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, there is still an iteration to be released on the Wii U and THAT’S the one that will be hosting the Fire Emblem costumes in all their fantasy glory. Unfortunately there hasn’t been a release of any images yet but hopefully we’ll be seeing some soon.

Final Fantasy VIII Out Now on Steam, New Trailer Revives Nostalgia

In a move many of us were waiting for, Square Enix has released Final Fantasy VIII on Steam for PC as a digital download and priced at $11.99. This comes a year after Final Fantasy VII was released on Steam with similar optimisations. Check out the trailer and screenshots below.

First released in 1999, the RPG was the fastest selling Final Fantasy title up until Final Fantasy XIII and sold over 8.5 million copies worldwide. The game is optimised for today’s PCs and will feature upgrades such as cleaner visuals, achievements as well as gameplay additions.

The Magic Booster lets players expand their spell inventory while the Chocobo World is being released in the West for the first time. Originally a Pocket Station game, players control Boko the Chicobo who embarks on a quest to find MiniMog and is helped by Moomba and Cactuar.
