Austin Wintory Composes Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate Score

Assassins-Creed-Syndicate-Screenshot-01

Ubisoft have revealed that Austin Wintory, the Grammy-nominated composer for Journey, has scored the upcoming video game Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, which will be available worldwide on October 23 for Xbox One and Playstation 4 and coming to Windows PC on November 19.

Inspired by the more intimate music of the mid-19th Century, Wintory’s score is more than 3 hours and is highly dynamic based on each player’s emotional experience throughout the game. In the soundtrack, the composer has brought forth the prowess and sarcasm of the game’s lead characters, Jacob and Evie Frye, and used waltzing music to portray deadly combat as a dance between the huntress and her prey, to reflect this playful yet violent energy.

Wintory explains his passion for chamber music from the 19th Century, “the intensity one can get from this sort of music is quite distinct from the massive force of an orchestra. You’re right in the face of a handful of brilliant players, each exploding with energy. Yet, because of its intimacy it can also sneak up on you in ways a lumbering orchestra can’t. It’s a dramatically tactile experience which seemed practically tailor-made for a tale of Victoria Era sibling Assassins”

Meet Austin Wintory in the video below, and witness his amazing work as he shares elements of his score for the next installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

forza-motorsport-6-screenshot-06

Just under a week from release, you can literally taste the pavement in Forza Motorsport 6. I guess I have already had a taste as I loved the game and you can see our very own review here. Back on track, Xbox announced today that ten gamers will score a trip to one of the most challenging and iconic races in the world, the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in NSW Australia. Sounds great, right? Here are the details:

To celebrate the launch of the highly-anticipated Forza Motorsport 6 on Xbox One, players will be invited to take part in an in-game challenge for the chance to win this once in a lifetime opportunity. Winners will travel to Australia to experience one of the biggest days in the international touring car calendar, as racing legend Marcos Ambrose and Xbox Racing Team lead driver Scott Pye, challenge the V8 Supercar field in the Xbox Racing #17 Ford Falcon FG X.

To earn a chance to win, players must complete the ‘Forza Drive to Win/Xbox One Bathurst Challenge’ rivals event in-game, racing the 2015 Xbox Racing #17 Ford Falcon FG X around Mount Panorama by 11.59pm on September 29th, 2015, AEST. Those lucky few will then go on to compete live at the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 for the fastest lap of the track on Forza Motorsport 6, the most realistic racing experience available. The high speed, iconic street circuit is considered to be one of the world’s most challenging courses for its combination of narrow sections and steep grades, both of which have been laser-scanned and built from the ground-up for Xbox One.

Ten fans from around the world that complete the in-game rivals event will be drawn at random to attend the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000, October 11-15, 2015, including two from the United States, two from the United Kingdom, one from New Zealand, and five from Australia. Winners will receive a trip for themselves and a friend to the Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000, and the chance to score USD$5,000 in prize money, as well as have their Gamertag emblazoned on the official Xbox race car and the track itself.

Winners will also get the chance to meet Ambrose and Pye and challenge their Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000 qualifying times on Forza Motorsport 6.

Servant x Service Manga to be Released in Print

servant-x-service-volume-1-2-covers

Karino Takatsu is best known for creating the Working!! series (which has been given three anime seasons) but another series from the author, Servant x Service, was given a chance a couple years ago in 2013 with a one season anime. Only problem is, none of Takatsu’s original manga series have been released in the West, only the aforementioned anime adaptations have been.

Thankfully that is about to change as Yen Press has announced that they will be releasing the Servant x Service manga in print starting on April 2016. They will be releasing the series in omnibus format with two volumes being combined into one release at a time.

Since only four volumes of the Servant x Service manga were produced, this means that only two omnibus releases will be needed to complete the series though at the moment Yen Press has not stated when the second set will be released.

New Yakuza Title to be Announced on September 15

yakuza-5-screenshot-004

It seems that a brand new Yakuza game will be revealed next week on September 15th during the SCEJA Press Conference for Tokyo Game Show. I say this because the official Japanese website for the Yakuza series was updated with a banner image featuring that date and a file name hinting towards a new title being revealed. It is worth noting that while Sega does own the Yakuza franchise that Sony would likely be the company to reveal the title during such an event.

Currently it is unknown what the new Yakuza title may be or whether it will be for the PlayStation 4 or perhaps a Vita release since this year also happens to be the ten year anniversary for the series.
