Chronicle: RuneScape Legends Set For Full Steam Launch On 26th May And Its ‘Free Card Packs’ Deal Starts Today

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends – a new adventure in CCGs – will reward open beta players with free card packs from today ahead of 26th May arrival on the digital platform

Thursday 12th May 2016, Cambridge, UK – The countdown to the launch of Chronicle: RuneScape Legends has begun, as Jagex today confirmed the next generation card gamewill arrive on Steam on Thursday 26th May – just two weeks from today. Ahead of its launch, players logging into the game’s open beta to experience Chronicle’s unique battle of wits, strategy, and combat between now and 23:59 BST on Sunday, 15th May, will be gifted three free card packs to bolster their collection.

The Steam launch of Chronicle will mark the arrival a new generation of action-packed strategy card games, one that sees players fighting their own cards in a quest for supremacy over their rival. Delivering a step-change in traditional CCG gameplay, almost every predictable card game mechanic has been thrown out the window in favour of Chronicle’s unique twist on the genre.

Since the game went into open beta six weeks ago, dozens of new cards based on Old School RuneScape have debuted in game, while a sixth Legend – Morvran the Slayer Master – is making his way to the roster later this summer, bringing with him a whole new strategy to explore. The launch of Chronicle on Steam will also see the debut of a new ranking system featuring epic rewards.

“It’s just two weeks until we officially throw open the doors to Chronicle’s Hall of Legends on 26th May, and its launch on Steam is only the beginning for what we have planned. We’ve already introduced brand new cards every week, increased rewards, balancing improvements, and there’s even more content planned for the months to come,” said James Sweatman, lead designer, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends.

“We’d like to thank the many tens of thousands of cunning card tacticians who have helped us in open beta with feedback to refine the Chronicle’s unique CCG gameplay mechanics. For our existing open beta players, and anyone who signs up over the weekend, we’re offering up three free card packs so they can build their decks ready to take on new rivals at launch.”

Ahead of full Steam launch on 26th May, gamers can join the open beta and claim their three free card packs by downloading the game from: https://www.rschronicle.com/

About Chronicle: RuneScape Legends
Chronicle: RuneScape Legends gives players the chance to write the fate of Legends from the world of RuneScape in a battle of wits, strategy and combat where lives are gambled on the turn of the cards. It’s a game where two rival Legend adventurers are seeking victory and both are equipped with the tools to trip the other up.

As every quest chapter opens, a rich environment is revealed and offers up four slots for card placement, each representing a step forward and action point in the adventure. In the role of a chosen Legend, players select up to four cards from their deck, which can be a mix of Support and Enemy cards each with an action and specific values. These are then placed in the slots on the landscape and locked in sequence.

In Chronicle, the player’s cards are both their greatest weapon and weakness. Like any great role playing game, players slay monsters, bosses and other foes to gain loot. Unlike other card games, players need to battle their own cards, rather than their opponents.

As the sequence of cards turn – one-by-one – the quest unfolds, with each card bringing a new challenge or reward. The rival Legend’s chain of cards plays out in parallel and can help or, more likely, hinder the player. If both players make it to the end of the fifth chapter, the Legends do battle against each other, with the victor being the last person standing. Chronicle: RuneScape Legends launches 26th May on Steam. For more information visit: www.rschronicle.com .

TOKYO – May 12, 2016 – NEXON Co., Ltd. (“Nexon”) (3659.TO), a worldwide leader in free-to-play online and mobile games, today announced financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2016.

“We’re pleased to have delivered another quarter of strong results that exceeded our expectations.  This quarter, we continued to execute well across several key markets, including China, where positive results were driven by the February Lunar New Year season, which continued into March, and Korea, where we saw better-than-expected performance from key PC and mobile titles,” said Owen Mahoney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nexon. “During the quarter, we also deepened our commitment to partnering with world-class developers with our acquisition of Big Huge Games, the developer of DomiNations, a critically-acclaimed title with over 20 million downloads worldwide. With this acquisition, Nexon solidifies relationship with them for long-term comprehensive service of the title and established another strong development foothold in the West. In addition, we made an equity investment in NAT Games, a talented game development studio known for its mobile blockbuster RPG, HIT, which we’re preparing for a launch in the global market. Going forward, we will continue to seek more opportunities to work with leading game developers and IP holders around the world.”

First Quarter 2016 Highlights:

  • First quarter revenues were 57.5 billion yen, up 11% year-over-year.
  • Performance exceeded our outlook, with double-digit as-reported revenue growth despite strong Japanese yen appreciation against the Korean won, Chinese yuan and U.S. dollar.
  • Outperformance was driven primarily by higher-than-expected sales fromDungeon&Fighter in China.
  • Operating income was 3.7 billion yen and net loss attributable to owners of the parent was 6.3 billion yen, both below our outlook due to impairment loss.
  • Operating income underperformance was primarily due to the impairment loss on gloops’ goodwill of 22.6 billion yen.
  • Excluding the one-time impairment loss on gloops’ goodwill, operating income would have been 26.3 billion yen, exceeding our outlook.
  • Lower than expected net income attributable to owners of the parent was primarily due to the impairment loss in addition to FX loss in foreign currency-denominated cash deposits and account receivables.

Second Quarter 2016 Outlook:

  • Expect second quarter 2016 revenues in the range of 37.5 to 40.3 billion yen.
  • Expect PC online game revenues in the range of 28.4 to 30.2 billion yen.
  • Expect mobile game revenues in the range of 9.1 to 10.1 billion yen.
  • Expect operating income in the range of 11.5 to 13.9 billion yen.
  • Expect net income attributable to owners of the parent in the range of 10.3 to 12.3 billion yen.
