Now this is a big one. EA have joined forced with 38 Studios and also Big Huge Games to create a single player sole-playing game with a super cool code name of ” Project Mercury”

Personally I love single player Role Playing Games. As former monk in a past video game life. These style of games always attract me. So let’s hope “Project Mercury” continues to feed my desire for playing alone in the dark against the AI 😉
Project Mercury will be available on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC

aims to turn over a new leaf and move forward with a new midterm vision of becoming “The No. 1 Information Network in the Asian Region” and “The World’s Largest Event!”
MasterAbbott is VERY VERY EXCITED ABOUT this years Tokyo Game Show 2010 he has a lot of things to do there but most importantly he has to brush on on his Japanese so he can speak to and hopefully interview some of the ULTRA AMAZING Cos Play Characters. Oh yeah and also check out the cool games that are coming out too 😉
Details :
The TOKYO GAME SHOW was launched in August 1996, and this year will feature the 20th celebration. Renowned for its full-fledged exhibition contents and substantial information transmission capacity, it is recognized as the one of the leading game shows in the world.
TOKYO GAME SHOW has evolved along with the development of the game industry, and we are now aiming for further growth and striving to establish ourselves as the world’s largest computer entertainment show. We have established a midterm vision to become “The No.1 Information Network in the Asian Region” and “The World’s Largest Event.”
For through enhancing the show’s B2B and B2C functions, we are planning the programs to transmit the latest game information from Asia to the rest of the world, as well as to promote participation from the Asian region.
It’s the year 2025, the shadow war is in full swing! Three private armies are vying for world domination and you can help! Seriously, there isn’t much a story to this game, equip yourself and go win a war!
This is Zipper Interactives’ Massive Action Game or MAG. You might remember Zipper Interactive from such games as SOCOM. Massive I hear you say? Yes MASSIVE! 256 players in one match!
The GamePlay
So here we are, put the disc in, you get to choose your private army, what you look like and your fit out. I played the tutorial first, so I can get a hang of those controls. In a hectic fire fight, think they can get a bit confusing, but I did get the hang of things about 4-5 games in.
There isn’t a tutorial per se about any of the game types, it just gives you a run down, would have been nice to play against AI, so you can get a hang of the game types before matching against other people – so I jumped straight into Suppression – this is a max of 64 players.
You play as part of a squad, which is part of a platoon which is part of a company. Once you rank up enough you can command one of these and you give your squad/platoon/company mates extra benefits.
Suppression is your basic team deathmatch, you play on a simulated battlefield against your own private army with non-live rounds.
This is where the fun for me stopped – I found this game really hard! Now I know I am a bit of a FPS newbie, especially online, but I get the hang of things and can pick up kills and work out what is going on. I found this game to be tedious to say the least in trying to kill someone. I don’t know if I was lagging (remember I am in Australia), the gun I was using was bad, or maybe I just can’t aim straight, but I just couldn’t get a kill or when I did, there was always someone there to kill me in return! Seemed like I was spawning all the time. (Yeah OK, maybe I am just crap 🙂 )
OK, let @MiniDuraRoc play a bit – he loves his FPS and does really well on all. He lasted about 30 minutes and gave up in total frustration and hasn’t touched it since. So, to me, you either have to be good, or willing to spend alot of time getting good.
With the game being Online only, unless you have your PS3 connected to the net, then there isn’t much use in getting this game.
Other game types unlock as you rank up. Sabotage has 64 players where you have to get and control 2 control points, then you move onto the final stage where you have to destroy the objective. Acquisition is for 128 players – here you have to steal prototype vehicles and such and then escape. Once you get to Level 8, you unlock Domination – this is the big one! 256 players spread across the map looking for, as the game type suggests Total Domination.
Video and Audio
Video was OK, I was expecting something a bit better considering it is on the PS3 – however in no way does it let itself down. The video was smooth all round and I didn’t see any issues whilst playing.
Audio was excellent – I turned it up really loud, so I could hear and experience the grenade blasts, bullets flying around you, umm head getting popped. Audio was everything I was expected and a bit more, it’s very impressive.
BottomLine
I do think Zipper Interactive are onto something here, 256 players on a map is kinda freaky and I was so looking forward to playing it. I feel you have to be an experienced FPS player to really get some fun out of this game. That being said, investing some time into it, I am sure I would get better.
Final Fantasy 14 you say? Well, it looks like Square Enix are already planning on making the next game (Geeze don’t these guys ever sleep !!)
Final Fantasy XIV, that’s right, 14, is coming exclusively to the PS3 next year. Sony is offering a “closed beta” so to say, with instructions on how to enter inside the PS3 Final Fantasy XIII game box. If you haven’t bought your copy yet and don’t want to miss out on playing in the beta of FFXIV, then what are you waiting for !! Go out and grab your copy now !!
If you live in Australia check out the great deals over at fishpond for Final Fantasy XIII. In the US check out AMAZON. Where ever you are around the world you should be able to grab yourself a great deal on the game.
Bungie has recently acknowledged a bug (if you can call it that) in the current alpha phase of Halo: Reach.
Currently whenever you die, the respawn camera flies to your respawn location keeping you from seeing any teabagging that your opponents do to you.
~~~
Title: Teabagging / humiliation moves impossible
Type: Bug
Opened: 3/4/2010 8:53:13 AM
“The respawn camera flies back to the spawn location immediately after dying, so your opponents can’t teabag / shoot / melee your body and have a possibility of you seeing it.”
~~~
I personally like the flying camera idea, it reduces the chance of spawn camping, and honestly I feel teabagging to be a very immature move.
Do you guys feel that Bungie should fix it so that we are forced to watch the enemy teabag us? Maybe an option to turn it on or off?
Halo: Reach Ringtones Here is a present from Bungie to you, want a Halo themed ringtone?
Well, have at them guys!
now then, guys, good news! 2K Games has Partnered with Playboy magazine to bring Sophistication and Classic Imagery to Mafia® II
yeah, we all know what that means! The bunnies are here to play!
“2K Games announced today that it has signed a license agreement with Playboy magazine for a unique in-game integration to use more than 50 of their vintage covers and Centerfolds in Mafia® II, this year’s highly anticipated epic mobster game for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC.” according to a 2k Games Press Release, “Set in the fully realized and immersive 1940s and 1950s American urban cityscape of Empire Bay, Mafia II will enable players to collect virtual copies of the iconic magazine, which has served as the definitive guide to lifestyle and culture for men since December 1953. ”
Seeing how recent games such as ‘Dante’s Inferno’ where nudity was present in an M rated game, and now 2k games teaming up with Playboy to bring images to Mafia 2; could this mean that we are entering the age in which nudity isn’t frowned upon? I doubt it, we can be sure to see this hit the news upon them hearing about it; but honestly that will just lead to more people buying Mafia 2.
So what do you all think? Currently it is all speculation, but who knows.
