Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai Episode 1

0

What would you do if you had to live in your little sister’s shadow? Everything she did was better than you, your family pays full attention to her, and she barely recognizes your existence? Well if you have that life then you may relate with Kyousuke and the fact that his little sister Kirino rules the house and his life.

The series begins with Kyousuke having a dream about what he wishes his little sister would be like, but when his dreams become too far separated from reality he realizes that there is no way that his sister could be this cute (the translated series name) and he wakes from his dream. Beyond his sudden jolt back to reality he goes to breakfast only to listen to his parents go on and on about his little sister’s accomplishments, and school turns out to be no better for poor Kyousuke.

Then, the entire series starts to do a complete 180. When Kyousuke returns home he finds his sister talking on the phone, and she blatantly ignores him while talking on the phone with her friend. After forgetting something in the kitchen, Kyousuke returns to the dining room and bumps into his sister and causes an 18+ game to fall out of her bag and under a table and out of sight until after Kirino leaves.

Knowing that it could not be his game, Kyousuke slyly questions his family about their feelings on such a game only to see that his parents care little about Otaku like games such as those, and think that they are useless people who should focus their energy into something productive. Little do they know that their daughter is sweating bullets on the other side of the table.

After catching Kirino searching his room for something, Kyousuke quickly comes to the conclusion that the game is hers, but does not force the conclusion on his sister. Instead simply telling her to throw it away from him he lets the problem drop. Kirino on the other hand has other ideas.
With a situation straight out of one of her games, Kirino smacks Kyousuke awake and informs him she needs life counseling and tells him to go to her room. Once there she reveals the fact that not only is she posing for a fashion magazine, she is also a closet Otaku with a distinct love for 18+ games that involve sister complexes. She reveals an entire hidden closet full of countless editions of various games in a hope to be understood by Kyousuke and to finally share her secret.

Not only does this place Kyousuke in the tough situation of dealing with his little sister’s constant requests, but he has now been thrown into the Otaku world at the behest of her. Not only that but the fact that each game his sister makes him play involves sister complexes which could create tons of hilarity later on in the series. Kirino herself shows many tsundere elements throughout the episode, first by ignoring Kyousuke entirely to slapping him awake, and then calling him an idiot while depending on his advice.

AIC does not disappoint this time around as the character designs are very cute and well done, and the animation is superb. The jokes that are made are top notch and easy to enjoy without there being much knowledge about the subject matter. There was no opening or ending this episode, as it was treated primarily as an introduction to the series as a whole I am not worried. Rather I am excited as Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai looks to be one of the top series this Fall, short of Index II.

Nascar 11 Trailer

Nascar The Game 2011 has been confirmed for a Febuary 2011 release date for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.  Gamers can play as themselves or as a pro driver.  One feature to look out for is that each pro driver will have a unique AI that will replicate their real counterparts.  16 player online multiplayer will be included.  Also included is a recent trend towards combining offline and online experiences.  For example, credits earned offline AND online can be spent on unlockables.  22 real world tracks, multi car wrecks and full car damage may make this the most exciting NASCAR game yet.

“While NASCAR has enjoyed a rich history in video games, we really wanted to take the next generation of NASCAR games to a new level,” said Blake Davidson, Managing Director of Licensed Products at NASCAR.  “By partnering directly with Eutechnyx, the leading driving game developer in the business, to create NASCAR The Game 2011, we are convinced NASCAR fans and gamers alike will be blown away by the result.  With Activision as the publishing partner, we have the perfect combination to set the bar for all future NASCAR titles.”

“The NASCAR videogame fanbase has been underserved for a long time and we’re bringing them something very special,” says David Oxford, Activision Publishing. Ed Martin, Executive Vice President at Eutechnyx, adds, “It was crucial to take a fresh look at what makes the sport so popular. We’re working very closely with NASCAR, the drivers, the teams, the tracks and the sponsors to get all the minute details right, and give this game the polish and push the fans deserve.”

NBA 2K11- What IF?

2K Sports has blown my mind with this trailer.  What if Michael Jordan played Kobe Bryant in a 1 to 1, man to man basketball game? I think the world would explode, or a bull would wreck LA.  I’m kinda leaning towards Michael Jordan winning, for the sake of nostalgia and ’cause he is that rad.  What do you think? Also, let us know what happens when you pit Bryant against MJ in NBA 2K11.

Finally, here is a link to another trailer for NBA 2K11, Chef Pooh be Straight Cookin’! (I swear I did not make that up.)

The Jungle: Panasonic’s online handheld to enter the market

Who wants a go?

Do we really need to encourage MMO players to play outside of their homes? Well according to Panasonic, portable online gaming is indeed a market worth targeting. “The jungle” as officially named by Panasonic has the tag line “new mobile device concept designed specifically for online gamers,” a “mean little machine features a kick arse display, touch pad, keyboard, and other gaming controls”

The jungle hopes to play host to a mix of content and experiences. It’s compatible with browser based MMO’s, like for example Runescape or something as childish as say Club Penguin. The device has a small touch pad and D-pad, including a full keyboard, but obviously quite compact in size. It’s rumoured to run on Linux (oh shii), which could complicates things as most games are developed on different OS and would need to be ported over. For example World of Warcraft would need to be ported, which caters for a giant slice of the market.

No details are confirmed, however it’s rumoured to have Wifi, 3G capabilities and possibly a HDMI port. Reports also indicate the screen resolution is quite impressive, which could mean a quick little processor inside. As the device has just been announced, no pricing or release details have been confirmed. However judging by the reports of the screen resolution and assumed processing power that goes with, we could be looking at a high price tag.

At first glance the device looks like a different version of the GBA; however it scores points for portability. It may be a good thing pulling hardcore MMO gamers out of their apartments, or it may scare the general public. Who knows? But one thing is for sure, Panasonic are taking a brave and bold step with this handheld. The failure of the 3DO must be well behind them. But the question remains if developers and publishers will back it. Check out the video from the official site, more details as they’re confirmed.

Just a reminder for all of you Pokefans out there that Pokemon Ranger Guardian signs is now available for the the Nintendo DS! Set in the Oblivia Region, players take control of the newest hero and must stop the Pokemon Pinchers who have been chasing and stealing Pokemon.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 360 Demo available now

Doesn’t bother Konami one bit that their upcoming release of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is tomorrow, they came right out with a demo the day before and are hoping to grab a bit of extra spotlight just before release. Sure the PS3 demo has been out for quite some time but it’s good to see a demo for each console now.

You can queue up the demo download here, but bear in mind that you have to be a Gold member to download the game. Also 2GB of free space on your hard drive so you know this demo is going to pack a wallop. Catch the game out on shelves tomorrow for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the US and on Friday everywhere else.

DC Universe Online suffers delay ’till Spring 2011

Much to comic book fans’ dismay, the hugely anticipated DC Universe Online has suffered a delay in it’s release date. Instead of receiving the proposed November 2nd date, instead the game will be reaching customers sometime in Spring of 2011. The reason for this delay has been stated by Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley to address feedback and fix any bugs discovered during the beta:

“As the game heads into external beta testing, this extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way. When we get deeper into external beta, we’ll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date.”

This is also a blow not only to PC users but PS3 users as well due to the fact that this MMO was also to be released for the PS3, bringing the console it’s first MMO experience. However just as before with Bangai-O, there is a small ray of hope in most fans’ darkest hour. And that is the fact that Beta access to the game will start beginning on November 30th in America.

How would one obtain a beta invite you may ask? The guarenteed path to success is if you were to pre-order DCUO before November 15th and you will receive a beta invite with the instructions included in the game. However if you so happen to not pre-order by that time, you will still receive a beta invite a week prior to the game’s official launch.

Bangai-O HD suffers delay but receives new features

Whenever people hear about a game being delayed it is usually met with sighs and the feeling that it was delayed simply for better release date sales without anything added to the game itself. Well this time around D3 and Treasure have unfortunately delayed Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury until Spring 2011 on the XBLA. But the silver lining to this dark cloud is that they are also taking this time to incorporate co-op mode and an online multiplayer mode that otherwise would not have been included in the Bangai-O.

From early appearances Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury places the player behind the controls to a gundam-style mecha warrior that is in a side scrolling shmup. This shoot’em up style will include hundreds of bullets and enemies all over the screen as they try to destroy your robot and put an end to your fight. We’ll know more as time goes on, but at least it is good to see that while the game has been delayed, more features are being added.

Gears of War 3 gets ‘silver lining’ reveal next week

Upset with the news that Gears of War 3 has been delayed by a collosal 5 months? You’re not alone, there are many others that feel the same way, but never fret for recent announcements may be more to your liking.

Over the weekend, both lead designer Cliff Bleszinski and Epic Vice-President Mark Rein hinted on their Twitter that the delay wasn’t all bad news. To reward fans of the franchise and cheer them up after the news of the delay, Bleszinski promised a pleasing announcement coming next week via his Twitter feed:  “Yep. Gears 3 has been moved to Holiday 2011. News incoming shortly that will be quite the silver lining. Have faith.”

Mark Rein added on his Twitter: “Re: Gears3 coming out in holiday… there are some nice silver linings hiding in this cloud. More news next week.”

Personally, I think the double mention of ‘silver lining’ was no coincidence. Anyone have any ideas what this could be about? We’ll have more on it as it progresses.
