Lemon Team Bringing “A Fairy Tale” to the DSiWare!

Today Spanish developers from Lemon Team announced that the puzzle-adventure title, A Fairy Tale will be headed to the DSiWare Shop. A Fairy Tale follows fairies Delfbert, Wilf and Angelica as they journey throughout 100 levels to save their home.

Players will be challenged to create matches that eliminate the support structure holding tiles together, attempting to drop the largest number of tiles possible to the ground and create large point-scoring combos. A variety of obstacles will block the way including key and lock puzzles, exploding flowers, spider-web trapped fairies, and devious tile patterns.

Power ups also come into play allowing abilities to be used to clear tiles with earthquakes, column clearing blasts and magic wands as players try to collect diamonds hidden in the puzzles.

Not only does the game sound refreshing, the trailer makes this unique puzzler look even better with stunning graphics and a unique environment to play on as well as a story-book style progression. No date has been given as of yet but you can check out the trailer below to get a look at this awesome game coming to Nintendo portables soon.

Hyperdimension Neptunia will be getting a US release

Remember a long time ago when we mentioned something about a game being developed in Japan that happened to have characters that were human versions of the current console generation?  Well at that time there seemed to be little to no hope of the game actually receiving a release across the seas. That is until now, because Hyperdimension Neptunia will be coming to the US courtesy of NIS America.

NIS is bringing the PS3 exclusive game to US shores sometime in Spring of 2011. What makes this strategy RPG unique is the fact that the characters you play as are more or less video game consoles and companies made into fighters. The game itself will take place in the world of Gamindustri, where the players must fight monsters and the Aroire. NIS America has stated that they will be able to keep the integrity of the game alive with the various references to famous companies such as Idea Factory and Gust. Not sure about the rest of you but I’m amazed that this game is being localized, but pleasantly amazed.

You can catch a preview from the game below (Japanese Audio):

Rome through the eyes of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

Rome. A city that was instrumental in many of todays traditions.   Of course, many great things often start out awful.  So it is in the Rome of  Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.  Crimes are committed at the whim of a hypocritical religious leader, and corruption is rampant.  What is a good Assassin to do? Start kicking ass? Yea, that actually does sound like an appropriate response.

This video showcases all that and more, including what happens once you start liberating some citizens.  Looks pretty sweet Ubisoft. Only about 19 more days ’till we get to see it in action.

Diablo III can run on consoles

The next Diablo III could very well be the franchises next step into the console gaming world, with Senior Designer Jason Bender recently commenting on the speculation. He mentioned that there is “no real barrier” to bringing the highly anticipated RPG to PS3 and Xbox 360, since the game is quite suited to the current consoles.

“I think it is suited to consoles,” he says. “We’re definitely working, obviously, on the PC version. This is something that’s been brought up a lot about Diablo. It’s sort of an ongoing question. And I’m sure we would all love to play it on console, but right now, we’re just focused on what we’ve got in front of us. Who knows what the future holds? It’s hard to say.”

The original Diablo made it to the PS ONE in 1998 with EA, but Diablo II skipped a port altogether. If the game were to make it to the current generation, the online aspect would definitely be exciting enough to consider a purchase. Hopefully this is a hint that blizzard is thinking about the port, otherwise these comments are just a massive tease to console wielding Diablo fans.

Splatterhouse is golden, also classic version coming to phones

Isn’t it great to know when a game goes golden?  Well if you have been looking into Splatterhouse then you will be glad to know that Namco Bandai has officially announced that it has gone gold.  With a release date of November 23rd on the 360 and the PS3 it is great to see it completed with almost a month left until the release. We even have a video courtesy of Machinime.

That isn’t all however as the 1988 arcade classic that the game is a reboot of will be released on the iPhone, Windows Mobile, and other mobile app stores within the next month.  This means that if you are interested in the older version of the game before you delve into the gore fest that is Splatterhouse then you will have your opportunity soon.

Microsoft Posting Record Profits

Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division (EDD), responsible for the Xbox and PC/Windows gaming posted revenue increases over last year during the same quarter. While the entire division was up 27% to nearly $1.8 billion, the Xbox 360 business alone went up 33% over the same quarter in 2009. Total revenues were sitting around $1.2 billion, with everyones favourite FPS Halo Reach generating over $350 million by itself.

In total, the division was able to generate $382 million in profit from July to September. This represents a 46% increase over last year. Sales figures were strengthened by the sale of 2.8 million xbox units, about 38% higher sales than the equivalent period in 2009.

The company is optimistic about the future and has said it expects 30 percent revenue growth in the current second fiscal quarter ending Dec. 31. Because of holiday game sales, including the launch of Kinect, Christmas sales can certainly confirm their expectations.

In total, Microsoft posted record-breaking revenues of over $16 billion. The main driver in sales came from the company’s Windows and Windows Live division.

Lifetime sales of the Xbox 360 are at 43.9 million units, according to VGChartz. The Wii has sold 74.6 million units and the PS 3 has sold 38.9 million units. Microsoft said the Xbox Live online gaming service continued to grow, but didn’t confirm any data.

Super Mario All-Stars gets a 25th Anniversary US release

Could you imagine that just twenty five years ago, Mario was nothing more than a character first being introduced to gamers. He could have simply fallen by the wayside as a basic character but instead he has stayed strong and has appeared in hundreds of different games. Well now he is getting even more love because Super Mario All-Stars is going to be packaged up and released for the Wii in time for the Holiday season.

Bundled with the Wii game, Soundtrack CD, and a 32 page book containing the history of Mario. Super Mario All-Stars contains the four games you can see above; Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. Sure they are the NES versions of the game and that boxart up there is for the SNES, but they are the same games regardless with upgraded graphics.

Releasing on December 12th the Super Mario-All Stars collection will sell for $29.99 on the Wii alone.

Ghost Trick haunts the New Year on January 11th

With Halloween only days away, it’s time for game companies to be releasing a variety of different horror titles and scary games right? Well Capcom at least has an announcement about a game with a ghost in it. Though this ghost is more of a Phantom Detective if you catch my drift. Capcom has announced their US release date for Nintendo DS puzzle game Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.

Designed by Shu Takumi, famous for designing the Ace Attorney series, has players taking control of their main character, too bad he is already dead when the game begins. The main character named Sissel chooses to use his new ghost form to interact with the real world through various objects so that he can solve the mystery to his own murder and save the lives of others. I’ve been anticipating this one for quite a while thanks to its Ace Attorney pedigree. Catch a bit of gameplay below:
