Great news for all you Capcom fans out there.

Capcom is pleased to confirm that since its release at the end of September Dead Rising 2 has achieved global shipment numbers of over two million units, bringing the total number of units of the Dead Rising franchise shipped worldwide to date to over four million. The achievement of Dead Rising 2 is a result of the successful collaboration between Capcom and Vancouver based developer Blue Castle Games.

Further to the announcement of the acquisition of Blue Castle Games at Tokyo Games Show, Capcom is extremely pleased to confirm that this acquisition has now been ratified by the Canadian authorities, with this wholly owned subsidiary being known as Capcom Game Studio Vancouver. (CGSV)

Minecraft Sells 500,000 Copies Worldwide; New Halloween Update Coming Soon…

Here are some numbers for you. The indie game developers behind the gaming sensation of Minecraft, Mojang AB, have recently announced that the game has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide. That is an incredible number considering the game is still in Alpha. I honestly have yet a chance to try the hit sandbox game yet, but I know many who are consumed by it’s crack-like addictiveness.

So do the developers run out and spend their load of cash? Na, they are being smart and investing it right back in the game to make it even better.

“We have had a lot to do lately with setting up an office and making sure we work with the right people. We believe that we have found really great development teams that will help us make Minecraft even better” says business manager Daniel Kaplan.

Minecraft will also see a special Halloween update this weekend which will add new features such as the currently named underworld “The Slip”, where the player will be able to teleport long distances in the real world. So if you have yet to join in on the craze, you can check out the official website at http://www.minecraft.net/ and download a free version of the title or pay just around $15 to get in on the Alpha version.

PSPgo Epic Price Drop in Australia

0

Sony Australia announced today that the price of the PSPgo down under will drop by a massive $200 to a retail price of $249.95 from November 1, just in time for the Christmas rush. They may as well advertise “crazy warehouse clearance sale!” all over TV with a price drop like that. But in all seriousness, the system needed a new price tag to improve the sluggish sales.

Think that’s not enough? Well there’s a generous offer currently going that allows PSPgo owners to download ten free games from the Playstation Store. This offer extends to the end of Jan 2011, the magical titles with very insightful short reviews beside them for your short attention span are:-

  • Assassins Creed: Bloodlines – (Decent)
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories – (Good)
  • Gran Turismo – (Never liked it)
  • James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game – (F*** off blue people)
  • LittleBigPlanet – (Sort of cool)
  • MotorStorm Arctic Edge – (Decent)
  • Need for Speed: Shift – (Change that shift to s**t, and you’re right)
  • Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice – (NFI, you tell me)
  • 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa – (Decent)
  • WipEout Pure – (Good)

The good news is that this offer can apply to people who’ve already bought a PSPgo, to qualify you (obviously) need to own a PSPgo and must not, prior to April 2010, have used your PSPgo to either create a PSN account or have logged into any of your existing PSN accounts.

Hopefully this awesome offer can breathe some life into the systems somewhat lacklustre market performance..

Agarest Senki Zero being localized for American and European shores

It isn’t very often that we see full blown strategy RPGs making their way onto consoles anymore. It is even less often that we see one like Agarest Senki Zero. The zero means exactly what one may expect in the game naming world, a prequel. This game is the prequel to Compile Heart’s and Aksys’ Record of Agarest War which we reviewed previously on the PS3. It is even quite famous for having an extra naughty edition for the Xbox 360.

This news comes from Ghostlight who is assisting Aksys in bringing the game across seas. Aksys will be handling the localization work and Ghostlight is preparing a limited edition for Europe. There hasn’t even been an official release date yet, though the work has just begun on the project so we don’t even know the price range. One thing we do know though is that so far, it has only been announced for the PS3. Record of Agarest War was released on the Xbox 360 as well but it will be curious to see if Agarest Senki Zero will be getting the same treatment.

Catch the trailer from the Japanese version of the game below:

Borderlands Patch due in a couple of weeks

Yes, I’m talking about that patch that was promised to come out along side the GOTY edition. It still isn’t out, and now we have to wait a few more weeks. Check out what Adam Fletcher has to say about the delay, and below that is what updates are coming with the patch. There was no clear reason for the delay, but I’m sure it is a good one. RIGHT!?

“The Title Update is finished and in the process of being reviewed for launch. We are almost green lit across the board for this free update to be launched, but we still need just one more light to turn green,” posts Gearbox marketing co-ordinator, Adam Fletcher. “In other words – we’re *almost* there! We expect that last light to turn green within a couple of weeks, possibly sooner. Once this happens, the Title Update will be made immediately available for all platforms.”

Here is what will be included in Title Update v1.41 patch:

  • Level cap increase for all players of 8 levels. That means that all Borderlands players will now be able to achieve a new maximum level of 58.
  • Owners of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx will achieve a record-setting increase to a maximum level of 69.
  • End game players that have completed playthrough 2 will see enemies scale to the new levels up to the new level cap. That means that if you’ve completed everything, you can play through the game again and again at a challenging level in order to find better and better loot.
  • Item drops (with the exception of COM Decks) will also scale with higher level enemies to the new level cap. That means that this Title Update features the highest level weapons to date!
  • Other fixes, including DLC4 Achievement/Trophy glitches that have affected some users and will be corrected to properly award players for obtaining these achievements no matter which order they were completed in.

New Sonic Free Riders Video Shows off weapons

What does the game include? Sonic, Hoverboards, Controller Free Gaming, and now weapons!

You can’t have a kart hoverboard racing game without good weapons. These particularly weapons are deployed by using your hands to throw, or roll, or squish.

Check out the video below to get a taste of some of the weapons.
