One of the all time greats of Sega, Golden Axe is currently being given away this weekend as part of the 21st anniversary for the classic game. GamersGate have partnered up with Sega and will be distributing codes for the PC version of the title. Now I am sure you want to know what you need to do to get in on this steal and it is really quite simple.
First thing you need to do is become a fan of the official Sega Facebook (which you can find by clicking HERE)
Next, well… that’s it really. Sega will be giving out codes that will need to be redeemed within the first 24 hours of receiving, which you must be a registered user to redeem at GamersGate. It only takes a few seconds to register though, so I can easily say to jump on this freebie while it is…well, free. Golden Axe is a timeless classic and for those who have not even tried it yet, you now have no reason to get a chance to play one of gaming’s most beloved franchises. For more information, you can check out Sega’s official post over on their blog by clicking here.
Rising Star Games has just recently announced that bullet hell game, Deathsmiles will be officially coming to European and PAL markets. For those of you who have been waiting to hear this news, you will be glad to know that this version comes as a very special and exclusive Deluxe Edition. This Deluxe Edition features the complete version of the game, with the Mega Black Label DLC (which brings an extra stage and playable character), a desktop accessory pack and the original 23-track soundtrack.
Deathsmiles features three different modes: the original Arcade version, an Xbox 360 conversion of the arcade version and Version 1.1 of the game. Version 1.1 is actually another conversion designed specifically for the Xbox 360 (for those of you that were interested).
Along with all of this, the game will include two-player co-op, both locally or via Xbox Live. All the modes will also have multiple difficulty levels. Supposedly all this extra stuff was sold separately in Japan and priced at about £25, so this bundle is quite a steal
For those of you in the PAL regions that have been waiting for the game, Deathsmiles is coming your way in early 2011.
The Sony blog has recently posted a video showing off the upcoming Sharp Shooter peripheral for Killzone 3. This gun incorporates the Plastation move to create a “realistic” first person shooter. The peripheral looks quite neat with its own trigger for shooting, and even a button to reload that makes reloading feel more realistic.
Check out the video below to see this peripheral and even some gameplay footage of KillZone 3.
Bethesda has released a full comprehensive patch for all consoles; which means that next time you start up your Xbox 360, PS3, or PC copy of the game you will be asked to update. These bug fixes were listed but not detailed by Bethesda themselves and range from a multitude of quest glitches, to problems with companions, perks, and skills and even save game corruption.
You can catch the full list of the issues addressed below. It is good to see this large patch applied finally and just in time for the Xbox 360 version as the DLC Dead Money will be coming out next Tuesday.
In addition, this patch addresses issues with the following areas:
While Mindjack could have been seen as just another sci-fi shooter initially, it is trying to go above and beyond the call of duty (get it?) by creating an entirely new form of multiplayer that hasn’t been seen yet on any shooter. In Mindjack instead of searching for a lobby, you will simply enter into another players single player mode and can take over an enemy soldier to try and kill the original host. This looks like it could lead to many angry players if they are constantly killed in story mode by incoming players. Then again from the sound of it, there is also an option to close your game off from unwanted intruders.
Also revealed was a trailer that shows off different enemies that can be hacked into by other players. Sure enemies themselves are bad enough, but how tough will things be when other players can take over the minds of the enemy and take you down?
Some more news from our friends at Cosmonaut Games today as their new unique tower defense title Inkub will be making it’s debut on the WiiWare this Monday, December 20th in America. This release was announced a while back when the title first released on the iPad & iPod just a little bit earlier this year.
The objective of the Inkub is to defend an incubator containing a growing specimen. To do this, you will be provided with different weapons and powers that will help you destroy, pause, or block these enemies. These threats will try to enter the incubator through the Plasma tubes that connect it with the life-giving energy that makes them grow.
Cosmonaut is also adding in a rotation system to improve the gameplay exclusively on the Wii Version. The player will need to shake the Wii Remote to rotate the scenario and get access to rear tubes adding a bit more strategy and giving the ability to control 2 different action perspectives at once.
Players will also have to always be on their toes as well due to the fast paced economic system within the game as you improve it quickly in order to get more energy and buy weapons and blockers faster.
The INKUB main features are:
3 Difficulty Levels: 3 different difficulty levels have been prepared so that you can adjust the game to you ability.
Adventure Mode: 5 different Worlds, each of them containing 8 rounds. A total of 40 rounds full of action, enemies and danger where you must prove your defense skills.
Survival Mode: Beat the record in each one of the game worlds in this non-stop mode, where each wave is stronger than the previous one.
Scenario Rotation: With an innovative play system, use the Wii Remote™ to rotate the level perspectives and access the rear tubes.
Sniper: Discover special rounds where you must point and shoot the enemies.
Enemies: Up to 21 enemy feature variations available.
Weapons: Up to 24 variations in all of the weapons at your disposal.
Files: Review enemies and weapons in the game files. Learn more about each of the available weapons and the enemy features.
Unlocking system: Unlock weapons, enemies and play modes as you pass each one of the Adventure Mode rounds.
Complete soundtrack with 7 songs performed by El Topo Negro.
I have been keeping my eye on Inkub for a while as it looks interesting and for just 500 points, anyone who is looking for a fresh experience on the WiiWare should definitely check this one out. Be sure to check out the new trailer (which has some brilliant music as well as new gameplay footage) and screenshots below, and we will be bringing you a review of this hot new WiiWare title very soon.
Earlier this year, we reviewed a little game on the WiiWare by the name of Dive: The Medes Island Secret. I really enjoyed the game and in my opinion it is one of the best on Nintendo’s download service, but now you can try it out for yourself. Cosmonaut Games recently announced that Europe will be seeing an official Demo out as of tomorrow on the WiiWare that will include one full level with all game features like achievements or upgrades, so it should help curious gamers get a chance to try this very unique title.
Dive is pretty much a side-scrolling underwater game of discovery, with of course a unique control scheme to go along with it. So if you live in Europe, get to trying it out already and let us know what you think of it. For our readers that live in the U.S. or Canada, Cosmonaut will soon have you covered as the demo will be available “very, very soon” for you as well. You can check out our review HERE.
Remember how we talked about the fact that Tale of the Last Promise will contain a permanent death system? This means that if you were to lose a character in battle they will disappear from your roster forever. Now of course this can be avoided as long as the player was careful with their saves and reset their game anytime of their characters fell in battle.
Well the producer of Last Promise Yousuke Uda had a system in mind that would show how many times players cheated death and reset their systems. This system would display a number alongside your save file that showed how many times you had reset, and there would have been a bonus if you had avoided resetting all the way to the finish.
Unfortunately this system was not implemented due to restrictions on the system itself. There is still an easy mode to choose and there will not be anything special about playing on a harder difficulty. This means that you can take and play at your own leisure. Or at least those in Japan will when Tale of the Last Promise releases on the PSP April 8th, with a possible Western release sometime in the future.
Fans of the Deus Ex series will unfortunately have to wait a little bit longer because Square Enix has decided that they will be giving the Human Revolution a bit more time to get polished off before releasing to the public. What would have been a release in March of 2011, Deus Ex: Human Revolution will instead be released some point in the next fiscal year, rather than this one.
Square Enix explained their reason for the delay as simply giving Eidos Montreal more time to polish off the game and deliver fans what they truly want. This is true for all systems that the game will be released on like the PS3, 360 and PC. This may be good news if the game was close to release already, but it is a bit odd that there is already a large delay in a game that had a few months of development time left.
Fable III may have come out over a month ago but that doesn’t mean that thousands of people are still loving the newest installment to the series and have been anxiously waiting more additions to the world. These same people may have been a bit disappointed that there was no way to change the way your dog looked other than your morality meter. However that is all about to change as Lionhead has released a new Dog Breed Pack that will cost 240 MSP. The pack will come with three different dogs that you can have with you. Two of the dogs are your standard guard dogs and will definitely be vicious in a fight as they are a German Shepard and Doberman Pinscher. The last dog added however is a Poodle…. very tough man there.
But that isn’t all. In the spirit of giving Lionhead has also released a bit of free DLC to go along with the Dog Pack. There isn’t too much to this one other than a free Santa hat of course. Titled the Free Yule Hat, it gives your hero a chance to run around as if he/she were Santa Claus and you were delivering magic fireball presents to everyone. You can download the free hat here.
