Salt Lake City has been bombed – A Homefront trailer

THQ and KAOS Studios have been telling us for awhile that Homefront will have a gripping story.  If the trailer below is any indication, we are in for an emotional roller coaster when it releases.  Once you get done with the trailer, visit the game’s website here and read the survivors journal entries.  It is quite an interesting experience.

By the looks of it, THQ is banking on this title a lot.  With plans for a book tie in and more, the extended universe for the game is looking pretty interesting.  So, what do you think? Should games be more than just a game?  Will you get hooked into a Korean occupation story and buy the latest action figures, books or movies as soon as they release?

In-Game trailer of Skyrim to appear tomorrow

There has been so many teaser shots, concept art pieces and possible in-game screenshots released so far for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim it is huge when even the existence of an in-game trailer is announced. Even more exciting is the fact that trailer will be coming out in 16 hours at the time of writing this. At Bethesda’s website they will be posting up the video tomorrow morning.

Also included, besides the countdown to trailer release, was a fancy new wallpaper for fans to use until something better comes along. The wallpaper itself, which you can see above, looks to have a warrior’s outline in the shadows with a dragon’s tail coiling around him. Now how much time is left until the trailer is released and what will they show the information starved fans of the Elder Scrolls?

Battlefield 3 Trailer – More gritty; more awesome (Updated with new video)

Well, if people could tell if a game was good or bad just by watching 30 seconds of video, there would be no need for reviews, right?  But, if you insist on watching the new trailer for Battlefield 3 and deeming the content therein awesome, then we TOTALLY AGREE!  Like, for real.  Featuring actual gameplay footage, this video shows that the game looks to be pretty darn gritty and realistic.  Four marines are will travel across Tehran, New York and Paris while destroying anything in their path that impedes them.

Pre-order the game now and receive the ‘Back to Karkand’ DLC, a map pack featuring 4 maps from Battlefield Bad Company 2.  “Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements/trophies” will also be included in this bonus.  Pre-order here: http://www.ea.com/battlefield3/blog/bf3-pre-order

Thanks to jaypea360, we now have the newest gameplay trailer from today.

Japanese PSN market has over 600 classic games

In Japan Sony has just added their 600th game to their PlayStation Store which is quite a feat. There are a number of different consoles that are represented in this large number, such as Neo Geo, but practically every one of the games is an old PS1 game according to Siliconera. This means that if you live in Japan and were a fan of any PS1 game then you will most likely be able to find it online.

Unfortunately the rest of us around the world have far fewer games, with only 140 PS1 games and 10 Neo Geo games available to those buying games from the U.S. PS store. Everyone in Europe however only has 96 games and 10 NG titles so that means there are plenty of games that can still be released for the rest of the world, but for some reason or another, haven’t.

BANG! Tiny Bang Theory will release soon

Point and click adventure games are making a comeback, especially on the PC and Mac platforms.  Inspired by this, Colibri Games and Lace Mamba Global are releasing an indie adventure that looks delightful. In the game Tiny Bang Theory, the world of Tiny Planet has been destroyed.  You must recover the beauty that once was.  A plethora of ingenious puzzles await; are you up for the challenge?  Get ready to buy this game in retail stores across Europe, New Zealand and Australia in April 2011 for Mac & PC.  A collector’s edition will also be unveiled soon.

“We instantly fell in love with The Tiny Bang Story’s beautiful, bright and jolly hand-drawn art style. After the massive success of Machinarium, a similar art-focussed puzzle adventure which we released last year, we see an incredible demand for games of this kind. We are very much looking forward to bringing a fully packed collector’s edition of The Tiny Bang Story into retail stores”, says Jason Codd, European Managing Director of Lace Mamba Global.

Rush’N Attack Ex-Patriot coming at the end of March for XBLA/PSN

It looks like Rush’N Attack Ex-Patriot will indeed be coming out despite past troubles in development. Konami revealed today that despite past problems with game development that the game itself will be released on March 29th and the 30th on the PSN and XBLA respectively. The price of the game itself will land on the $10 mark (800 MSP).

For those that were alive at the time, Rush’N Attack was a 1985 Cold War platformer that was a run and gun styled shooter. This sequel will continue the story and take place in a Siberian prison complex, not too much else has been revealed yet but it is good to see that the game is finally coming out… 26 years after the first game was released.

Gears of War 3 releasing on September 20th

Better get out your day planner or a calendar to mark the date that you will not be coming out of your house for long periods of time because Gears of War 3 has finally gotten a set release date. Coming out on September 20th the third installment to the Gears franchise will bring the story of Marcus Phoenix and his crew to an end. Of course if you only have a PS3 then it will be business as usual.

Gears of War 3 will bring players into the story a year and a half after what happened in the end of Gears of War 2. Players will take control of Marcus, Dom, Baird and the rest of the crew to try and save what is left of humanity and put an end to the Locust scourge. There hasn’t been a set date for when the multiplayer beta will begin for everyone who picked up Bulletstorm yet though, but expect that to be announced within the next few days.

Here is what else you can expect from 2011’s most highly anticipated game:

  • An enthralling cinematic story that captivates players in an intimately intense action game
  • Five-on-five multiplayer experience as well as four player campaign co-op experience
  • New multiplayer game modes including ‘Beast Mode’ – offering a new twist to the game where you take on the role of the locust horde and their assorted variations!
  • New maps including: Trenches which features an impressive sand storm that reduces your visibility, as well as Overpass, Mercy, Checkout, and Thrashball.
  • New weapons including: The Bayonet Charge, The Retro Lancer, The Sawed-off Shotgun, The OneShot – a heavy sniper rifle that shoots through shields or cover for a surprise one shot kill, The Incendiary Grenade, The Digger Launcher and a few subtle tweaks to old favourites Hammerburst and The Classic Lancer. And don’t forget that each weapon now has its own execution move!

Assassins Creed Brotherhood PC Specs and details revealed

Ubisoft announces the release date, details and specs for Assassins Creed Brotherhood for the PC.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood continues the adventure of Ezio from the game that came slightly before as he adventures through Rome in a battle against the Templar Order. But he is not alone in this ordeal, as a Master Assassin, Ezio has at his command a Brotherhood of Assassins to defeat their mortal enemies.

Not only is there a single-player component, but there is also a Multiplayer component to the game which involves players siding with either the Assassins or the Templars in PvP combat.

The game is set to be released on the 17th March 2011 for the PC platform and is looking like it’s to be the definitive version of the product. The game is set to be released in three flavours; ‘Standard Edition’, ‘Codex Edition’ and the ‘Auditore Edition’. Though, curiously enough, there isn’t an edition that includes everything from all the editions as some items appear to be exclusive to each edition.  The closest package to an all-encompassing edition is the ‘Codex Edition’, though that appears to be missing one item that’s exclusive to the ‘Auditore Edition’.
