Hudson’s 3DS Line-up Reveals New Bomberman, Deca Sports & More…

Along with the many other companies jumping on the 3DS’ line-up is Hudson, who are bringing some their most popular titles to Nintendo’s handheld. Three titles have now been named by Hudson at being their first entries into the 3D Market. It comes at no surprise that Bomberman & Deca sports will be joining the line-up, but Hudson will also be publishing the first Brain training title as well for the 3DS. Let’s now take a look at all three of these brand new titles…

DECA SPORTS EXTREME will feature 10 3D sports: Soccer, Tennis, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Snowball Fight, Sumo Wrestling, Bowling, Snowmobile Racing, Sport Blowgun and Trampoline. Players can collect power-ups throughout each event to unleash powerful special moves such as a giant racket in tennis, a cannon dunk in basketball, or a rainbow shot in soccer. Compatible with up to four players through download or wireless play, DECA SPORTS EXTREME allows players to customize teams and choose from various venues. DECA SPORTS EXTREME will be available on the Nintendo 3DS Summer 2011 and is not yet rated.

Bomberman (working title) brings the “Blue Bomber” into eye-popping 3D with its world-famous multiplayer and an immersive single-player adventure. Players can navigate beautifully designed arenas and take in the sights of Central City. Bomberman takes full advantage of the revolutionary Nintendo 3DS to provide long-standing or existing and new Bomberman fans with a 3D gaming blast . Bomberman will be available Fall 2011. Rating pending.

Nikoli’s Pencil Puzzle (working title) is the first brain-training game for the Nintendo 3DS. Gamers can engage their minds with four challenging puzzle games including Sudoku, Hashiwokakero, Shikaku, and Akari to invigorate the mind! From world-famous puzzle maker Nikoli, Pencil Puzzle brings fan favorite puzzles to players’ finger tips. Nikoli’s Pencil Puzzle will be available Fall 2011. Rating pending.

“Hudson is thrilled to be at the leading edge of 3D gaming with three new games for the revolutionary Nintendo 3DS,” said Greg Suarez, SVP of Sales & Marketing at Hudson Entertainment. “The gaming industry is abuzz with high hopes and expectations for the Nintendo 3DS, and these games have been specially developed to utilize the system to the fullest.

Hudson have experience with portable gaming so I am confident these three titles will just be the beginning it what we see from the developer. After enjoying Lost in Shadow as much as I did, maybe we will eventually see a sequel/prequel come into the mix later down the line, there is no doubt it would certainly fit in perfectly with the 3D technology, but for now I am thrilled to see Hudson showing some love to the console with some of their best selling franchises.

Stacking is priced, dated, and gets a video

Stacking – Double Fine’s most recent puzzler is based upon stacking Russian matryoshka dolls. The game revolves around the world’s smallest stacking doll, Charlie Blackmore, who must work his way through a bizarre 1930’s open-world setting, jumping into larger dolls to assume their personalities and solve a variety of puzzles.

Stacking seems like another enjoyable game from the same guys who brought you Brütal Legend and Costume Quest.

Stacking has been priced and dated for XBLA. The game currently has a release date of February 9th and a price of 1200 Microsoft Points. Check out the debut trailer below for a small taste of what is to come.

Yakuza 4 Gets Dated & a Hard Hitting Trailer…

Sega officially update the “Spring” release date on the much anticipated Yakuza 4 for the Playstation 3 to March 15, 2011 (March 18th for the U.K.) today. This date of course should set well with fans eagerly waiting to jump back into the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu yet again as it is just a little under two months away. With the date, a new trailer has also came out of the shadows that shows off not only the four main characters, but the intense battles and fighting mechanics that players will be able to execute.

The four men profiled in the trailer, Masayoshi Tanimura, Shun Akiyama,Taiga Saejima & Kazuma Kiryu will all of course be playable and judging by the trailer, each bring a distinct trait to the table when in combat. Each will also have their own missions which must be completed to gain the 100% mark in the game, so this Yakuza title just may be the biggest yet. Check out the new trailer below and mark your calenders for what may be the true return of the Yakuza series.

Puzzle Bobble Universe Coming to Nintendo 3DS

“PUZZLE BOBBLE UNIVERSE sees brothers Bub and Bob facing more bubble trouble as they stumble across an unmanned spaceship and a distant cry for help.  Unknown to the dinosaur duo, several surrounding planets have “doors” in their vicinity which have been opened, releasing floods of bubbles that are rapidly turning into hazardous space-debris.  With Bob captured by the Boss, Bub must act fast to ensure the future safety of all the planets and their inhabitants.”

Square Enix has announced its next Puzzle Bobble game, and that excerpt above does a fairly good job at summing up a new story for this dinosaur duo.

Ubisoft launching Smurfs movie Tie-in for Wii and DS in august

Ubisoft has decided to launch a movie tie-in game for the movie smurfs. The only details we have so far are from the press release below, but if the movie and the tie-in game stay true to the Smurf’s roots, then we will probably play as smurfs as we run away from an evil guy who is trying to melt us down into gold. Because, you know… you melt smurfs into gold to become rich! Oh, there was also a cat!

Also, since it is a movie tie in, it will probably take place in whatever city the movie is located at. Who knows, but like I said all the details we have now are in the press release. Aside from the systems it will be released on, which is the Wii and DS, there isn’t much information. Oh yeah, and it will be out around august.

You can check out the movies site at http://www.smurfhappens.com/

LAFIG BELGIUM AND SONY PICTURES CONSUMER PRODUCTS, INC. SIGN UBISOFT® TO DEVELOP VIDEO GAME FOR “THE SMURFS®” FEATURE FILM

SAN FRANCISCO – January 20, 2011 – In anticipation of the August release of Columbia Pictures’ / Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D family comedy The Smurfs, Ubisoft announced today that it will develop and publish a video game based on the live-action / CG-animation hybrid film. Designed for the Wii™ system from Nintendo and the Nintendo DS™ family of hand-held systems, The Smurfs video game is scheduled to launch with the release of the feature film.

This summer, the Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen in The Smurfs. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours – in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.

The film is directed by Raja Gosnell. The producer is Jordan Kerner. The screenplay is by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss and Jay Scherick & David Ronn, from a story by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss, based on the characters and works of Peyo.

Commenting on the announcement, Mark Caplan, Vice President, Consumer Products at Sony Pictures Consumer Products, said, “We look forward to continuing our work with Ubisoft in the video game space. The Smurfs video game will provide kids and families around the world with hours of enjoyment.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Lafig Belgium and Sony Pictures on the Smurfs license. Our ongoing partnership with Sony Pictures Consumer Products allows us to create fun and entertaining video games based on some of the most popular family films,” said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. “Ubisoft’s creative team is working hard on crafting the perfect video game experience that will appeal to new and old fans of The Smurfs.”

Brink gameplay shown off to a choir of guns

The sound of gunfire can usually only mean one thing; that somebody or something was just shot. But in this latest video released by Bethesda gunfire can also be music to your ears. Of course people get shot as well. In the newest video for Brink we see plenty of guns being shot which create a musical tune, but we also see the weapon customization in action and we also see the different statistics which each gun will actually have.

Now even though Splash Damage’s Brink hasn’t received a whole lot of coverage since it was announced back at E3, the game is still being released sometime this Spring so better take a good look at the video now so you can know what to expect when it arrives on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer released in English

It seemed like just earlier this week we saw this exact same trailer; except it was in Japanese. Well it was the beginning of the week actually but regardless of that fact, Square Enix has released the trailer for Final Fantasy XIII-2 themselves and it is in English this time around. Bear in mind before you watch the trailer below you should know that it contains spoilers regarding the ending of Final Fantasy XIII. Meaning if you haven’t finished that game then you should go do so now to experience the drama that is FFXIII.

Now in the trailer we can hear that Ali Hillis is returning to voice Lightning again, just like she is for Dissidia 012 [duodecim]. Unfortunately even though the trailer is now in English there hasn’t been much more revealed at this point regarding who exactly that person is and why is he/she Lightning’s new rival. It is worth taking notice that so far however, FFXIII-2 is only showing a PS3 release in Winter.

Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy releasing March 22nd

Square Enix has just announced that their second Final Fantasy cross over fighting game will be released in the US on March 22nd which is only a few short weeks after it’s expected release date in Japan. Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy will arrive on store shelves for a price of $29.99 and bring together some of the best fighters of all the Final Fantasy games.

New additions Lightning, Kain and Tifa join the already easily recognizable roster of characters, and to top that off each one of them will feature top of the line voice work. For example Rachael Leigh Cook will voice Tifa, Keith David as Chaos, Steve Burton as Cloud Strife, George Newbern as Sephiroth and Ali Hillis bringing her voice back to Lightning.

Now that we have a date set we can begin counting the days until we can visit the battle between the Chaos and Cosmos. Besides the main story mode however, Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy will also feature a fully functioning multiplayer battle system so you can take your fighting skills and compete against the world.
