PlayStation’s E3 website reinforces rumors of PS Vita

It seems like the name PS Vita has a lot more backing behind it than we thought. At first there was just rumors of the new name from a flyer that a few people who would be attending E3 received. Now it appears that that rumor may be less of a rumor, and more like an information leak.

Destructoid has received a few tips that Sony’s official E3 website has a few secrets hidden within it. Not the website itself of course, but within the HTML source code. A quick search through the source code for the page pulls up the name PS Vita a couple of times. Of course Sony isn’t saying anything at the moment, because if you were waiting to pull a big announcement out of your hat, then why admit to what that announcement is beforehand?

Ninja Gaiden 3 screenshots released by Famitsu

As always, with every game being developed in Japan, Famitsu has the scoop on a handful of new screenshots for Tecmo Koei’s Ninja Gaiden 3. These screenshots show Ryu doing what he does best, making plenty of blood spill from enemies. Andriasang has grabbed all of these screenshots and also reports that Ryu’s right arm will play a central role in the title.

As you can see in the images, Ryu’s arm looks to be possessed or cursed by something not yet known. She also went on to say that Ninja Gaiden 3 is set for a release in 2012 on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Check out all of the screenshots below, courtesy of Famitsu.

Metal Gear Solid 3D’s user interface revealed by Hideo Kojima

At last year’s E3 we saw a glimpse of Metal Gear Solid 3D and unfortunately not much else has been revealed about the title for over a year now. That is of course until today when Hideo Kojima decided to give everyone a look at what Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will look like when it is being played. Of course there will be playable demo’s next week at E3 for the press, but it is good to see this glimpse beforehand.

The image found below was released on his Twitter account and he also noted that he had crossed a suspension bridge using the 3DS’ gyro controls. Andriasang was the first to discover the information from his Japanese twitter account. From the image we can see how the bottom touch screen will look, including a touch screen inventory and mini-map.

Darksiders 2 announced as July’s Game Informer cover

No your eyes aren’t fooling you. Darksiders 2 will be the feature of next month’s Game Informer. With this cover release of the July issue we learn that the new protagonist of Darksiders 2 will be Death himself. Death is the brother of the first game’s War and is also one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Which of course brings about the question as to whether or not they will make two more games about the horsemen. But then again, famine and pestilence may be a bit weak looking compared to these two guys.

Game Informer also says that the sequel will provide a richer experience as well as more NPC, better loot, and fresh dungeons to explore. Death’s mission will be to restore humankind’s existence, which sort of seems like the opposite thing he would do. Maybe he is bored without anyone to reap? Check the cover out below.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation announced as downloadable title

You may have noticed that last week we reported that Carmageddon’s official website had a countdown clock placed on it. And now that the clock has hit zero there has been an announcement which will delight many who grew up playing videogames back in the 1990’s. Stainless Games which was responsible for creating the first couple of Carmageddon titles has re-obtained the licensing to the franchise and is now working on the next Carmageddon.

Titled Carmageddon: Reincarnation, the game will be released some point next year as a downloadable title. The exact platforms that the game would be released for were not mentioned but one can assume that it will cover both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and maybe even the PC. It is great to see that the Carmageddon name isn’t as dead as we thought, though it has been nearly eleven years since the last entry to the series.

PSN undergoes maintenance today

Another day another PSN news story. Sony has said that they will be bringing the PlayStation Network back to full capacity by the end of this week. Of course there will be some maintenance needed before then and it seems that maintenance is beginning tomorrow. Or today in some parts of the country at the moment.

The UK PlayStation website has posted up a notification that the PSN will be down for maintenance from 4:30 PM GMT until 7:01 AM GMT Thursday. Of course this is only for the UK at the moment and there has been no notification about other regions, including the US, but there is plenty of time left for Sony to make the announcement that it will be a worldwide maintenance. Just fix the Store already please.
