Code Geass Season 3 to be OVA straight-to-video.

Recently it was announced that a third season of Code Geass was on the way. It has been confirmed today that the third season known as Code Geass Gaiden: Akito of the Ruined Land will be released much earlier than first thought and in a much different capacity.

Code Geass Gaiden: Akito of the Ruined Land is now being listed by Japanese retailers as a straight-to-video DVD release OVA series set for a November 2011 release. This could be a double edged sword for fans though, as fans have speculated that production quality may be higher this way, however episode count may be lower.

Tetris Axis Dated and Detailed for the 3DS…

When the original Game Boy released over 20 years ago, Tetris was responsible for skyrocketing sales of the portable and became a legendary franchise in the process. Fast forward to today and Nintendo are looking to repeat that magic with the upcoming release of the newly titled Tetris Axis for the 3DS. This new L-block connecting romp will feature 20 new and old modes as well as feature the classic puzzler in 3D. Up to eight players will also be able to play wirelessly as well in a multiplayer mode, with only one person actually needing the cartridge due to the single-card sharing function.

Here is a more detailed list of features for Tetris Axis to give you a better idea just what else is inside:

Features

  • Over 20 Tetris game modes!
  • Featured Game Modes: Marathon, Computer Battle, Fever, and Survival
  • Party Game Modes: Stage Racer Plus, Shadow Wide, Jigsaw, Tower Climber, Capture, Fit, Bombliss, Sprint, and Master Mode
  • Augmented Reality Game Modes: AR Marathon and AR Tower Climber
  • Local Multiplayer Game Modes (2P–8P): VS Battle, VS Stage Racer, VS Shadow Wide, VS Capture, and Co‐op Tower Climber
  • Download Play Game Modes (2P–8P): Marathon with Everyone, Fever with Everyone, and VS Battle
  • Nintendo Wi‐Fi Connection Game Modes (2P–6P): 3 variants of World Battle
  • Discover new exciting Items for Fever using SpotPass
  • Since the now defunct Hudson are developing this title, it very well could be one of the most definitive Tetris titles we have seen as of yet based on the massive amount of extras packed in. Thankfully, those with a puzzler itch that own the 3DS won’t have to wait long, as Tetris Axis is set to release on October 2nd, which is now just a bit over a month away.

    Gundam AGE extended trailer

For the past few months since Gundam AGE was announced, there has been various bits of promotional material released building unprecedented hype. But until now there hasn’t been a promo trailer that has shown much. The latest trailer released weighs in at a whopping 5 minutes. That’s right 5 minutes of Gundam AGE goodness.

Gundam AGE is set to make it’s Japanese premiere in October this year, along side various other forms of media based around the new series. Such as manga, model-kits, video games, etc.

You can check out the mecha sized trailer below. It is guaranteed to quench your thirst for Gundam, for the time being at least. Be sure to let us know what you think of it in the comments section.

Professor Layton and the Last Specter Dated For America!

Finally! Professor Layton and the Last Specter was brought out for the Nintendo DS all the way back in 2009 for Japan, and Nintendo have finally announced that this prequel for the series will be coming to North America on October 17th. Set three years before Professor Layton and the Curious Village, this title will tell the tale of how a young Luke met the Professor and also include a “100 hour” bonus RPG called Professor Layton’s London Life, which will be available from the beginning of the game.

I have always been fond of the Layton series, and this new adventure certainly looks to bring new life to the franchise and shed even more depth into both of the main characters. This release also signifies that Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle which launched on the 3DS in Japan should also be in the process of making the trip over shores as well.

Max Payne 3 is Rockstar’s “next big release” plus two new screenshots

Max Payne 3 is a title that has languished in the dark for many years, so much so that the hope of the game ever being released had diminished completely. That is of course until Rockstar started to tease the game by releasing a few images for it a few months back. Now it seems that they have decided to completely throw aside any subtlety.

At Rockstar’s website, they not only revealed the two screenshots you can see here, one with Max sneaking and another with a broken window but they also said to “Prepare for our next big release on both consoles and PC, the long-awaited return of Max Payne.” Which means that there is most likely going to be a lot of news in the future for the nearly forgotten title.

Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei launch teaser website; reveal next week

Namco Bandai sure loves their teaser websites. Sometimes the teaser website will be something extremely elaborate, and then happen to be a PlayStation Portable game for an anime adaptation that hasn’t even been released yet. But hopefully that won’t be the case this time around, because this teaser website is saying that the game they will be revealing is a Namco Bandai X Tecmo Koei collaboration.

Exactly what type of game or what the game could be is not hinted anywhere on the site, and the only thing on the website besides a counter which will end next Monday, are some black and purple flames in the background. What do you think it could possibly be for? Perhaps a game that may actually have a chance of being localized?

Skyrim to come on one disc for Xbox 360

With the amount of detail that has been put into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, many have probably been wondering what this will mean for a certain console. The PlayStation 3’s Blu-ray discs hold an extremely large amount of content, PC versions are installed and mostly downloaded off of Steam, but the Xbox 360 still uses the same type of discs as before, with limited storage space.

This problem has caused some games, like FFXII, Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect 2 to have multiple discs and cause lazy fans to be upset when they have to change discs. But even with all of the content in Skyrim, players won’t have to worry about changing discs because Skyrim will only use one disc on the Xbox 360. This news comes from Bethesda’s art driector Matt Carofano when asked about the disc count at PAX by Ripten.

Skyward Sword $70 bundle announced; includes golden Wii Remote

Today Nintendo announced some information regarding their release of a limited edition bundle for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The bundle will sell for $69.99 and will not only come with the standard game and soundtrack CD, but also a gold Wii Remote Plus. The soundtrack CD is included in all copies of Skyward Sword and will feature the orchestral versions of songs from the series which will be performed at the upcoming 25th anniversary concerts.

As you can see above the golden Wii Remote Plus is actually very neat looking, but it also serves a double purpose. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will require the use of a MotionPlus or Wii Remote Plus, so if you don’t have that yet, perhaps this bundle is the best way to go. If not then the normal edition of the game will cost $49.99 and will be released on November 20th alongside the limited edition.

Gears of War 3 will use $30 “Season Pass”

Earlier today we reported that Gears of War 3’s first piece of DLC has already been detailed. It appears that the first DLC package will be released sometime in November, but you could secure your purchase of the extremely non-limited (read infinite) piece of digital content the day that Gears of War 3 comes out, as well as that of the first four DLC installments for the game.

Available the same day the game is released, Microsoft and Epic will be launching a Season Pass which will cost 2400 Microsoft points ($30) and will be set for the next few DLC packages coming out next year. The Season Pass will overall provide “33 percent discount on the game add-ons” than if you purchased them individually. Also if you buy the pass you will be rewarded with an “exclusive Liquid Metal Weapon Set” for free. This seems like a good deal for true fans of Gears of War 3, though pre-purchasing content is always a risky move, as there is no guarantee that the first pieces of DLC will even be worth their original price.

    Warp Trailer and Screenshots

Well, what do we have here? Hey, a little alien. He looks like he’s being tested by humans. A little cliched but I’ll go with it. Oh, he looks like he’s escaped. Alright, can he do it? He’s weaving through the different floors. There are others looking for them. I wonder what he’s… Oh dear lord, he sneaks himeslf into their bodies and forces an explosion of blood.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have just described what to expect in Warp, a new downloadable title coming to you from EA via developer Trapdoor. You will control the little alien Zero in this puzzle-based stealth sci-fi game. Your mission: to escape the clutches of Commander after being kidnapped by said character from your home. Yeah, the story is a little bland, but when do you ever play a downloadable game for its story?

There’s no release date for the game but you can check out Zero in the screenshots and trailer below, which was revealed at PAX 2011 except for a few which were released earlier this year. Have your say on the game, especially on his ability to explode enemies from the inside.
