X-Men First Class Sequel Release Date Announced

The mutants are coming, again! 20th Century Fox has announced a release date for the upcoming untitled sequel to X-Men: First Class – July 18, 2014.

Very little is known about the film, other than Matthew Vaughn has signed on to return as director and shooting is expected to begin in January 2013 to avoid scheduling conflicts with Jennifer Lawrence, returning to her role as Mystique, who is also soon be shooting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

What can we expect from this film? Well Fox envisions it to be the 2nd film of the new X-Men trilogy. Also, Vaughn has compared the idea of this sequel to The Dark Knight by stating “First Class is similar to Batman Begins, where you have the fun of introducing the characters and getting to know them, but that takes time. But with the second one, you can just get on with it and have a rollicking good time. That’s the main difference between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Sounds like the next X-Men film could turn out to be pretty X-treme!

Thor 2 and The Lone Ranger Release Dates Rescheduled

Two of Walt Disney Pictures biggest major 2013 releases have now seen a rescheduling in their release dates. The Lone Ranger will now be seeing a July 3rd release date instead of May 31st, and Thor 2 will smash it’s way into theatres one week earlier on November 8th instead of November 15th in 2013.

Thor 2 on the other hand will put the god of thunder be up against The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and the One Direction Concert Movie 3D. Let’s hope Thor and his mighty hammer can smash through those Justin Bieber look-a-likes!

So for those who missed it: The Lone Ranger hits screens July 3rd, 2013 and Thor 2 hits screens November 8th, 2013.

New LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes Gameplay Footage Reveals Awesome Stuff

New gameplay footage of the latest LEGO Batman title has revealed some pretty awesome things!

Firstly, you can play as Superman. Second of all, when he gets bored of flying, Superman can take the Batmobile out for a drive. Thirdly, and most importantly, our favourite kyrptonian can also ride on the back of a gorilla. Why? Why not?!

Just when you thought the combination of Batman, LEGO and video games couldn’t get any cooler, along comes Superman riding a gorilla and driving around in the Batmobile! I seriously don’t remember seeing Clark going for his driving licence on Smallville

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will fly/drive/gorilla ride it’s way into stores on June 19th with over 70 playable characters. For more, check the video below.

DC Comics: Green Lantern Is Gay

Last week DC Comics announced a DC character would not just come back to the DC universe, but also come out. DC Comics has now revealed that character is Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern. This has surprised many. Why? Because the character was created over 70 years ago and has a wife and kids.

Now being reintroduced into the series Earth 2, Alan Scott will be returning with a new sexual preference in Earth 2 #2.

“I’m very proud to be introducing Alan Scott into DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. He was my favorite Golden Age character and one I’m very familiar with so I’m really excited to be updating him for a contemporary readership. Oh, and on Earth 2 there is only one Green Lantern, so Alan’s title is The Green Lantern. Alan’s sexuality is just one facet of him, along with his innate goodness, valor, charisma and skill at leadership that makes him the perfect man to wield the power of the green light in the world of Earth 2.”

I know right?! I’m just as surprised as you are. I also expected it to be Aquaman! Earth #2 is expected to be released on June 2nd, 2012.
