Award winning independent game developers KING Art games, best known for producing high quality point and click adventure games, recently announced it is seeking fan funding through Kickstarter to complete its unfinished turn-based strategy game Battle Worlds: Kronos.
A prototype of the game was completed six years ago and fans of the strategy genre have been asking for the title ever since. Creative Director Jan Theysen spoke about why now was the time for his team to return to the title.
“We’re really excited at the thought of finally putting all the pieces of this game together, after having to stop development on the game some years ago. The time wasn’t right for a resurrection of classic turn-based strategy, but now we believe the world is ready”
The game needs $120,000 to be completed and is likely to achieve that goal with its already established community support. Those who support the campaign with a minimum of $20 will receive a full digital copy of the game and gain access to an exclusive beta as well as access to the development forums.
Battle Worlds: Kronos is a turn-based strategy game based on a hexagonal style grid with two single player campaigns, challenge maps and both live and asynchronous multiplayer modes. It is planned for release on PC, Mac and Linux.
If you’ve ever been inside of a GameStop you’ve probably seen the various print-outs they have laying around that show what type of games are coming out soon. Well before those sheets are created, GameStop has a long list of video game release dates stored on a computer. Well today an unknown GameStop employee decided to snap a picture showing Tales of Xillia coming out on July 2nd.
It is worth noting that the “SD” next to certain titles means “Street Date” and considering the Xillia listing does not contain said SD then it may still change, however in the Summer, video game releases are almost non-existent so it would likely be a very smart release window for Namco to target.
If you were hoping for some extra storyline DLC or even some extra tombs for Lara to explore in the single-player then prepare to be disappointed. In an “ask me anything” on Reddit, the global brand director Karl Stewart stated that there would only be multiplayer DLC in the future.
To be a bit more specific, Stewart stated “There are currently no plans in place for any Single Player expansions. All of our DLC is based around the Multiplayer experience for now.” This obviously is disappointing news to fans and only goes to show that Tomb Raider’s multiplayer may have simply been tacked on so that DLC could be added later to wring more money out of gamers. If you haven’t already done so check out our review for the game here.
With Bioshock Infinite set to be released next week, Irrational Games has released a new video for the title that actually takes players behind-the-scenes and shows off how the game’s heroine Elizabeth was created. For example, did you know that she came from multiple women working together to create her voice acting as well as performing the motion capture work? Well you can find out more about that with this six minute long video that covers all of the aspects that went into creating Elizabeth.
Anyways, fans can expect to see Bioshock Infinite on store shelves next week on March 26th for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
