One Piece gets a new OP theme so throw your ‘Hands Up!’

one-piece-we-go
After a long tenure as the opening theme of One Piece, it has now been confirmed that ‘We Go!’ will be replaced by a new theme song after more than a year and a half as the series opening.

‘We Go!’ has been the series opening theme since the beginning of the New World saga back in October 2011. One Piece will say goodbye to “We Go!’ with its final appearance on episode 590. Following that a new theme called ‘Hands Up!’ by Kota Shinzato will begin with episode 591 on April 14th, 2013. Fans of the series may remember Shinzato’s performance of classic theme ‘We Are!’ on the Episode of Luffy special.

It will certainly be sad to see a song such as ‘We Go!’ go after endearing itself into the hearts of One Piece fans, but it is undoubtedly time to throw your hands up as we farewell ‘We Go!’ and welcome ‘Hands Up!’.

Wargaming Announces Update 8.5 for World of Tanks

World-Of-Tanks-Update
Wargaming today announced details for Update 8.5. This latest update will  bulk up both the German and the Soviet tech trees, adding new medium and light tanks into the game, as well as bringing additions to the in game economy.

The German tech tree will see a new line of  medium tanks added to their ranks, topped by the Leopard 1, a deadly Tier X all-rounder effective in both long-range and close combat. The Soviet tech tree will also see the introduction of three new light tanks, including the T-60, T-70 and the T-80. Originally constructed during the early moments of World War II, each tank provided the Red Army with excellent battlefield presence with decent armor and deflection angles, while their small stature helped them stay concealed from enemies.

The update will also bring more changes to the in-game economy with players now being able to purchase all premium consumables with silver credits. In addition, all players, paying and non-paying, will be able to create 3-member platoons and companies. Items like large repair and first aid kits were previously available for purchase only with gold credits.

In addition, the game will also be updated with one new map-Pearl River. Three existing maps will get revamped visuals and shading effects, including Siegfried Line, South Coast and Malinovka. Lastly, the UK tech tree will be bolstered by the Sexton, a new premium SPG known for its surprisingly fast firing speed and quick reload times.

Prepare Yourselves for Gaist Crusher

Gaist-Crusher-Cast-Screen-1
We all love Capcom. That’s the truth. If you don’t love Capcom then, well, your childhood needed about 100% more Megaman but that’s a different story. Let’s talk Gaist Crusher. This soon to be 3DS action title aimed at kids is set to revolve around armours which players will collect, upgrade and transform throughout the game. The game is similar to Monster Hunter and also gives off a very Megaman vibe. (Or maybe I’m just a Megaman fan with nowhere else to vent his Megalove)

Gaist Crusher isn’t just going to be a game, no, Gaist Crusher is going to be everything. It is set to be like a bridge across all areas of modern multimedia; Games, comics(Manga), cartoons(Anime), toys and action figures, basically it’s going to be a whole lot of everything. It it’s gonna drive parents broke. Capcom aims to mix it’s “expertise in producing content for children,” which we’ve seen in many Megaman games, with the “high-grade multiplayer capability that generated a strong response for the Monster Hunter series.” I don’t doubt Gaist Crusher as a game, it may be aimed at children but I still think that, coming from Capcom, it will be great. They have enough experience under their belt to not disappoint.

The Garden of Words To Premiere at Gold Coast Film Festival

The-Garden-of-Words-Takao-and-Yukino-screen-1
World premiered! The Garden of Words is Makoto Shinkai’s latest work in collaboration with CoMix Wave films. This film is about “love” but not the love you and I believe in, it’s more of an out-dated and somewhat twisted love, based on the traditional Japanese word of “love” written as “Koi” which roughly translates to “lonely sadness”, kind of daunting in a way. Over time the Japanese word was modernized and changed to become the word “love” (ai) as we see it now. The Garden of Words is set in modern times yet still uses the old, meaning of the word.

CoMix Wave describes the story:

“We have met, for each of us to walk forward.

Takao, who is training to become a shoemaker, skipped school and is sketching shoes in a Japanese-style garden. He meets a mysterious woman, Yukino, who is older than him. Then, without arranging the times, the two start to see each other again and again, but only on rainy days. They deepen their relationship and open up to each other. But the end of the rainy season soon approaches …”

Mr. Shinkai started in the industry creating video clips for graphic design and games at “Falcom”. His first ever anime title was self animated, directed and produced which was a five-minute short and called She and Her Cat, this was in 1999. It received grand prize in the 2000 DoGA CG Animation competition. He then went on to quit his job and began working on Voices of a Distant Star, a 25 minute film which was, once again, done entirely by himself, Shinkai and his fiancee also voiced the main characters of the film. He went on from there doing The Place Promised in Our Early Days in 2004, 5 Centimetres per Second in 2007 and Children Who Chase Lost Voices in 2011. So even if you didn’t know Makoto Shinkai before reading this you can see this movie isn’t going to disappoint.

Information on the premiere is as follows:

It will be held at the Pacific Fair BCC Event Cinemas, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia on Sunday the 28th of April, 2013 at 4:00pm. For tickets and further info head to the Gold Coast Film Festival Website.

The Garden of Words will also be receiving a manga adaptation done by Midori Motohashi in Kodancha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine from the June issue to be published in April.

The Garden of Words will open in Japanese theaters on the 31st of may this year.

Neverwinter-Online-Transparent-Logo-01
We have great news for all of those that have not yet been able to access the closed beta for Neverwinter Online. Starting April 30th PC gamers will be able to access the free-to-play title’s open beta! Could this get any better? Well, Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment have announced that there will be no more character wipes after the start of the open beta.

Those who have been dedicated enough to purchase a Founder Pack will receive exclusive access in testing the new professions system on Friday, April 12th. This will mark the start of the 60 hour “Beta Weekend 4” event allowing the Founders to simultaneously advance in four separate professions: Leadership, Mailsmithing, Platesmithing, and Leatherworking. CEO of Cryptic Studios, Jack Emmert had the following to say:

We’ve never been in a better place launching a game. While the entire team is focused on launching Neverwinter’s Open Beta on April 30, we still wanted to thank those committed Founders who stuck with us. Since the beginning of Neverwinter’s Beta Weekends, our Founders have shown us that Neverwinter offers engaging game mechanics, unique features and a gameplay experience that is parallel to subscription or paid games. They have become our biggest supporters and we wanted to give them Beta Weekend 4 as a token of our appreciation.

Upset that you are not a Founder? Don’t you fret because anyone is still able to sign up and purchase a pack (here). Gaze at the new Dungeons and Dragons “What is Neverwinter” trailer below to see what new adventures await you.
