Street-rugby-launched

Sean O’Brien the Leinster and Ireland back row forward today launched Street Rugby on iOS and Android soon follow at the Hampton hotel in Dublin. O’Brien who will tour with the 2013 British & Irish Lions later this summer is the central character in the new mobile game.

Imobile’s Street Rugby allows theplayer to control Sean O’Brien as he tackles and side-steps his way around the real streets of Dublin, ranging from The Spire on O’Connell Street to the famous Lansdowne Road, collecting caps and power-ups along the way.

Speaking at the launch, Sean said:

The life of a professional rugby player sees you spend a lot of time travelling to and from matches. A lot of my time is spent on buses, at airports, on flights and in hotels and you end up flicking through your phone playing games! When I heard the Imobile lads were looking to get me involved in  Street Rugby I was very keen to find out more. I’ve got long flights to Hong Kong and Australia coming up so I was looking for something to pass the time on those as well!

Imobile is an award winning mobile application developer who have a strong track record in working with sporting clients such as Leinster Rugby, Graeme McDowell, Retief Goosen and the Aviva Premiership. Street Rugby represents the company’s first time branching out into the fast growing mobile gaming market.

Padraig Shanley co-founder of Imobile said:

It’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading sports star and get the game the coverage it deserves. It’s fitting that in such a great time for rugby in Ireland we can launch the game which features a real map of Dublin that we went out and modelled ourselves. We’ve spent a lot of time researching and developing this game so it’s great to get it in front of people.

The app is available on the iTunes Appstore here from today, with an Android launch to follow.

Innovative New RPG Patchwork Battles Launches Kickstarter Campaign

patchwork-battles-kickstarter

Patchwork Battles published by Ayopa games, is a multi-platform, turn-based RPG with which brings whole new levels of customization and depth to players. Through a set of revolutionary systems, Patchwork Battles can be customized by each player to suit his or her own style of play.

In Patchwork Battles the player becomes young Jaden Toys on his quest to become a Grand Elite Animator and win the Patchwork Battles competition. He won’t be doing this himself though, as he needs his Mimics. Mimics are magical beings that you build and bring to life through the magical art of Animation.

patchwork-battles-wizard-priestes

Every Mimic is made up of various body parts: arms, legs, head, body, etc. These body parts are imbued with a spirit which gives the body part its role or class. The body parts are put together in any fashion the Animator sees fit, and then brought to life!

Some of the distinctive features of the game can be seen below:

  • Build your own Mimic. Use an array of body parts (heads, arms, legs, etc) to create your own unique characters from within a myriad of different classes.
  • Character Development: Every Mimic has its own unique skill tree based off the parts they have equipped. Change a body part, and your Mimic’s entire skill tree will change!
  • Reactionary Battle System: A  progression of the renowned Active Time Battle system. Instead of just acting and then waiting for your next turn, you can now react to the actions of your enemies and your allies. Dodging, blocking, and spell shielding all happen in reaction to an action by another character!
  • Gathering and Crafting: Harvest materials in-game with increasing quality and elemental power. The higher the resource quality, the better item it produces!
  • Community and Social: Patchwork Battles embraces social gameplay. Sell the uber items you create on a centralized Auction House and receive rare or even unique in-game rewards. You can also share your Mimic and Skill blueprints with friends, or sell them at auction!

Patchwork Battles needs help from the community to finish the final 60% of the games development off, and the Kickstarter page can be found here. Thus far only around $500 of the $28,000 needed has been collected, so if you would like to get behind this game, please don’t hesitate to donate!

The 30-day Kickstarter Campaign by Danish studio Full Control for the funding of Jagged Alliance: Flashback, the latest entry in the Jagged Alliance series has come to a close with a resounding success. The goal of $350,000 was not only met but exceeded, reaching a total of $368,614 through Kickstarter, with an additional $12,000 raised through PayPal.

Needless to say, Full Control are thrilled with the support offered throughout the campaign, with CEO Thomas Lund having this to say;

Wow, what a campaign! we’ve been blown away by the community’s feedback and faith in the Full Control team with what is a sacred, beloved franchise to many… We are now looking forward to turning this concept into reality and beginning pre-production – as well as engaging with the community and asking for their ideas and feedback to shape the Jagged Alliance: Flashback.

Support for the project was always high, but it grew when Full Control released a downloadable scene which showed longtime fans of the series, as well as newcomers that it would be sticking to its fundamental gameplay roots that made the series great.

Although the Kickstarter campaign is over, fans can still donate money through PayPal at the official site to help the project reach its stretch-goals (which include a map editor, and a new location off the coast of the main gameplay area). Production on Jagged Alliance: Flashback will begin in a few months time, with a planned release in late 2014.

We have been following the game progress since it first surfaced and will continue to do so right up until release, so be sure to stay tuned to Capsule Computers for more information as it becomes available.
