Latest Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z screens reveal blood-stained locations

Today Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja have released a number of new Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z screenshots and this time around the company has chosen to show off a few of the environments that players will be taking down numerous enemies in.

Besides the blood from the enemies he is killing, it appears there will be a Mayan Temple with something similar to a river of blood as well as some military bases. Check out the screens below and keep an eye out for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z when it is released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 on March 18th and March 21st for the PC.

Cosplay Boom Documentary Kickstarter Ending Soon

Cosplay Boom is a crowd funding endeavour you might not have heard about, aiming to document and explore the pop culture craze in the form of a video series. Having reached 32% of its goal, the project has just five days remaining so be sure to check it out on Kickstarter as well as the trailer below.

It’s not often we get a professional look at the cosplay phenomenon, which has its own tournaments, let alone one that takes a step back and focuses on the art and the people behind it.

“The cosplay phenomenon has always been a favorite topic of mine because of how passionate and talented the community is,” said Todd Kenreck, Founder, Cosplay Boom. “With this documentary, we want to deliver a unique and in-depth look at this fascinating, vibrant and beautiful art form in a manner that honors the spirit and craft of the movement, rather than trivializing or sensationalizing it.”

The Kickstarter begins with Cosplay Boom: Season 1 which is to be shot all around the world by director and cinematographer Todd Kenreck and producer Meagan Sadler. Each episode is planned to be released monthly along with daily content, such as video features, that charts the journey of individual cosplayers and their props.

Four stretch goals are included in stages of $20,000, $30,000, $50,000 and $75,000 that promise convention booths, original music and additional stories. All content will be released for free via YouTube, DailyMotion and the official site CosplayBoom.com.

Ankama to broadcast Dofus TV series in Italy

Ankama Games have just announced that they will be broadcasting the Dofus television series, Dofus: Kerub’s Bazaar, in Italy starting March 10th, 2014. This broadcast is made possible through a collaboration by Ankama and Discovery Italia.

Given the impressive Dofus fanbase in Italy it was only a matter of time before Dofus: Kerub’s Bazaar made its way onto Italian TV screens. The series will be aired on K2, which is Discovery Italia’s free to air kids channel.

No news has broke as of yet as to if the series will make its way outside of Italy and its native land of France but given the recent successful attempt to localize the Wakfu anime in the West, it may not be such an impossibility anymore. Razer Refreshes Black Widow Keyboard with New Razer Mechanical Switches

Traditionally, gamers have a few options for mechanical switches for keyboards. Traditionally, Cherry MX Black, Brown, and Red have all been popular choices for gamers; however, no mechanical switch has been designed with gaming in mind. Razer sought to fill this gap with their new Razer Green and Razer Orange switches. Like the Cherry MX Red switch, the Razer Green and Orange switches require low actuation force, 50g and 45g respectively. The Razer Green switches click when actuated while the Orange switches are silent.

The switches have been designed in house to actuate and reset sooner than the average Cherry MX switch, allowing for faster response times. The manufacturing is done by a third party under the watchful eye of Razer engineers. The switches are rated for a lengthy 60 million key strokes, compared to the traditional 20 million keystroke lifespan of other mechanical switches. The new switches will be available in the refreshed Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, Razer BlackWidow, and Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition. Learn more about the new switches at the official mini-site.

Jack Tretton Stepping Down as Sony Computer Entertainment America President and CEO

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced today that President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Jack Tretton and SCEA have made a mutual agreement not to renew their contractual relationship. This means that, after 19 years in which he oversaw the launch of every single PlayStation platform in the U.S., Tretton will be stepping down effective March 31, with current Executive Vice President and COO of Sony Network Entertainment International, Shawn Layden, accepting the promotion as of April 1. Tretton had the following to say about his tenure;

Working at SCEA for the past 19 years has been the most rewarding experience of my career. Although I will deeply miss the talented team at SCEA and the passion demonstrated every day by our fans, I’m very excited about starting the next chapter of my career. I want to thank the employees, partners and customers for their tireless commitment to the PlayStation brand and, of course, to our fans who have pushed us to new heights of innovation and entertainment over the past two decades. I leave PlayStation in a position of considerable strength and the future will only get brighter for PlayStation Nation.

Edge of Space Celebrates Multiplayer Launch with a 2 for 1 Deal

Handyman Studios released the much awaited multiplayer support for their platforming adventure game Edge of Space. Originally funded on Kickstarter, the game features dynamically generated worlds and strange creatures like Space Laser Sharks. Along with the usual patching and bug fixes, the new update brings multiplayer support, training mode, and crossover content from Terraria. Jake Crane, lead designer and founder of Handyman Studios said:

“This is by far the biggest and probably most important content update for Edge of Space yet. Multiplayer support has been a long time coming and it’ll be awesome to see Edge of Space gamers team-up in some awesome co-op play. TOKYO, MARCH 6, 2014 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. today announced that Jack Tretton will step down from his role as President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) as of March 31, 2014. This is a result of a mutual agreement between Mr. Tretton and SCEA not to renew their contractual relationship.

Shawn Layden, currently Executive Vice President and COO of Sony Network Entertainment International, will become President and CEO of SCEA, effective April 1, 2014.

Mr. Tretton has been with SCEA since its inception in 1995. As one of the founding members of the executive team, Tretton played a pivotal role in launching all PlayStation® platforms in North America, including the original PlayStation®, PlayStation®2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), PlayStation®3, PlayStation® Network, and PlayStation®Vita. Most recently, Tretton led the record-breaking launch of PlayStation®4 (PS4™), which sold more than one million units in 24 hours in North America and is now the #1 next generation gaming console in North America and worldwide. During his tenure, Tretton was also responsible for achieving several industry milestones, including surpassing 50 million units sold of PlayStation®2 in North America, and aggressively growing the PlayStation business in Canada and Latin America.

The DLC Pack features four new small to medium-sized multiplayer maps, including a mountaintop Mayan temple, a mangled container ship, a giant excavation digger in South America, and a fully reimagined version of Infinity Ward’s fan-favourite map “Dome” from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 – each with their own unique Field Order.

There’s also the all-new “Ripper” tactical 2-in-1 weapon, and “Episode 2: Mayday” – the gripping second chapter in Extinction’s four-part episodic narrative which includes multiple mod-able versions of the Venom-X weapon, and closes with a battle against a monstrous, 100-foot tall Cryptid alien boss, aptly named the Kraken.

Devastation delivers four distinctive new maps with the fast-paced gameplay Call of Duty fans love, each with their own surprises. The first map, “Ruins,” is located on a Mexican peninsula and set amidst the remnants of a mountaintop Mayan temple, with multiple levels providing verticality for longer-range weapons, and underground pathways perfect for close-quarters encounters. Savvy players that find and complete the unique Field Order will be able to trigger the map’s volcano to erupt, and enjoy watching enemy players attempt to take cover as fiery debris fall from the sky.

The map “Collision,” is a mangle of debris scattered atop a container ship pinned underneath a crippled bridge in New York. This small map is ideal for run-and-gun tactics. Players that dominate “Collision” and complete the map’s specific Field Order will be able take control of a heavily armed aircraft and rain down destruction from above.

“Behemoth” takes the battle aboard a massive excavation platform in South America. Long sight lines open this map up to longer-range weapons, while the compact interiors of the control rooms are ideal for SMG’s and Shotguns. Completing “Behemoth’s” Field Order will allow players to control an attack helicopter armed with a deadly, armour-piercing Rail Gun as it circles the excavator searching for enemy combatants.

Devastation’s fourth map, “Unearthed,” drops players into a reimagined version of “Dome,” the fan-favourite multiplayer map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. With a new look and all-new secrets, “Unearthed” is a compact map for all player types, who must navigate an alien artefact dig site in order to unlock the map’s Field Order and unleash the power of the Cryptids, as well as locate the map’s secret alien weapon.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation also arms players with the “Ripper” – a new, tactical 2-in-1 SMG/Assault Rifle that can be used in all of Ghosts’ multiplayer maps. The “Ripper” is a highly unique weapon because of its ability to quickly switch back and forth from SMG to Assault Rifle on the fly.

A deadly addition to Ghosts’ arsenal, the “Ripper” is the ideal companion across a variety of map types and tactics, providing players unprecedented flexibility with medium to short-range capability as an SMG, and medium to long-range as an Assault Rifle.

For Extinction fans, “Episode 2: Mayday,” highlights the Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation DLC Pack. Following the dramatic events that took place deep within the Alaskan wilderness at the Nightfall Program research facility, the Quick Reaction Force team now heads on board a mysterious Chinese research vessel drifting abandoned in the Tasman Sea in the South Pacific Ocean.

Players will uncover a much deeper conspiracy as they pursue Captain Archer and discover what has become of Doctor Cross. Armed with multiple mod-able versions of the Venom-X weapon powered with Cryptid technology, players will come up against yet another new alien species referred to as the “Seeder,” as well as go head-to-head with a massive, 100-foot tall Cryptid enemy from the depths of the ocean…the “Kraken.”

Madman founders buy their company back from Funtastic

Madman Entertainment has just announced through their official Twitter that the company now has its new owners. The company was of course put up for sale earlier this week by Funtastic. The exciting announcement is one that you could say is ‘best for business’. The original founders of Madman Entertainment have officially bought back their company after having sold it to Funtastic 8 years ago.

It has been a total of 18 years since Madman Entertainment’s founding and in many ways this does feel like a ‘coming full circle’ moment for Australia’s largest anime distributor. The company was originally founded in a share-house bedroom by room-mates Tim Anderson and Paul Wiegard and after all these years the ownership of Madman falls back into the hands of the two mad men who founded the company.
