hoppetee-logo-01

When we reviewed Hoppetee a good while ago (check it out here), we enjoyed the game and thought it was quite a charmer. Birgit Stock are ready to expand the little grasshopper’s resume however, and have now released the once iOS exclusive runner to the Android, where it can be picked up for free (with optional in-game purchases).

Hoppetee has also received an update on the iOS (download here), adding more dresses, a new Chinese landscape and Chinese themed music, and new challenges and golden coins to collect. Yes, it is quite an update, and you can swoop up either version as of today!

Need a new shirt with Yoshi on it? How about riding a Yoshi? Well, you can do both if you have the coins. Nintendo have been updating their catalog at Club Nintendo as of late, and have added four digital titles as well as some Yoshi merchandise. Now, the Yoshi merch (which is a shirt and a cleaning cloth) have both been up for over a week now, but hey, I’m sure someone didn’t catch it yet. If you haven’t seen our review for Yoshi’s New Island, you can also do that here by the way.

As for the newly added games, Super Mario World has been added for 200 coins (Wii U), along with Mario Golf (N64 Version for the Wii Virtual Console) for 250, Trajectile on the 3DS for 200, and Art Academy: First Semester rounding things off at 200 as well. I do notice the prices are slow climbing for these digital releases, but hey – free is free and you should make haste on adding these titles to your collection today.

The story takes place in the year 9999 on December 31st and this game is not a strategy RPG which is what Nippon Ichi is known for but it is instead a game where players will control a firefly and try to lead a girl named Mion out of danger. It is set to be released on June 19th for the PlayStation Vita in Japan and might get localized by NIS America sometime in the future.

Non Non Biyori Season Two Announced

non-non-biyori-screenshot-01

Fans of the comedy anime Non Non Biyori will be happy to hear some unlikely news about the anime and that news happens to be that the anime is getting a second season. Recently the official Twitter account for the anime announced that a second season had been green-lit, though currently no details as to when that second season will air have been revealed.

As for the first season, Sentai Filmworks licensed it for home release in the West but have yet to announce a release date. The reason I said that this news seemed unlikely is because despite being a cute little comedy, only occasionally do series such as this manage to pull in a second season but thankfully it seems that there will be more nyanpasu in the future.

2K and Gearbox Announces Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

What do you call a prequel to the latest game in the series that also happens to be a sequel to the first game? A pre-sequel apparently, and 2K and Gearbox have announced today that’s exactly the addition they are making to the Borderlands universe with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The game takes place in-between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2, showcasing Handsome Jack’s transformation into the ruthless tyrant fans loved to hate in Borderlands 2 and also allowing players to fight on the other side as they contribute to the rise of the Hyperion Corporation.

The Pre-Seqeuel will continue the franchise’s tradition of co-op gameplay, allowing up to four players to experience low-gravity, shoot ‘n’ loot gameplay on Pandora’s moon. The game will also feature four new playable character classes armed with powerful laser and icy Cryo weapons. These are Nisha the Lawbringer, Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer and Claptrap the Fragtrap.  An array of new enemies to destroy will also be present.

“Gearbox has entrusted 2K Australia with the co-development of their award-winning franchise and we are committed to delivering an all-new shoot ‘n’ loot experience that fans will love,” concluded Tony Lawrence, general manager of 2K Australia. “Fans will see for themselves at PAX East that there’s nothing quite like moon jumping in a low-gravity gunfight, completely freezing a moon bandit with one of the new Cryo weapons, and then shattering him into little pieces that float off into space. It’s pretty epic.”

The marketing team saw fit to put in a TLDR which basically read “Borderlands in space, jetpacks, lasers, freeze-rays. Plus you get to play as Claptrap and it’s being co-developed by the guys at 2K Australia”. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be available in Australia and New Zealand (and we assume everywhere else) come Spring 2014 on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (sorry next gen fans). You can check out the games first trailer below, which is more of a developer explanation but still shows off some great footage and some behind the scenes details as well.

The Evil Within looks like the game survival horror fans have been waiting for

The-Evil-Within-screenshot- (1)

For the last few years fans of the survival horror genre have had to turn to the indie scene to get their fix because outside of an odd release here and there, very few survival horror games have been released on consoles lately. Well if this trailer is anything to go by, The Evil Within is going to be the game that fans have been waiting for.

From the mind of Shinji Mikami, this latest trailer for The Evil Within features all of the grotesque and scary monsters that fans have come to expect from the man. But don’t take my word for it, check it out below and be sure to keep an eye out for the game when it is released by Bethesda on August 26th in North America, August 28th in Australia and August 29th in Europe.
